Chapter 62: Chapter 48 – Teana, the Goblin Succubus

The sound of chirping birds stirred Kanae awake. The baby Teana to his left and Mitty to his right, like one happy family. Last night, Kanae was unable to resist the horny goblin's libido and just allowed him to do as he pleased while nursing Teana.

"Great… At least I didn't subconsciously turn on Versatile Womb again." Kanae sighed.

Later in the morning while Mitty had gone hunting, Edina, Arenade, and Thedia came by to play with Teana. They watched as the baby chased an undead squirrel Edina had found in the forest, waddling as she tried to catch skittering critter.

"Is it just me, or is Teana a lot bigger than I remember?" Arenade asked, catching Teana to hold in front of her.

"I thought the same," Kanae said. "It's probably due to being born from the Versatile Womb skill that's giving her accelerated growth."

Teana was growing up faster than anyone expected. In just a single night, she sprouted midnight blue hair down to her shoulders, a few inches in height, a row of teeth with two sharp canines, and the color right below her eyes had taken a shade of red like someone brushed dye around it. This must be the accelerated birth from the Versatile Womb. Not only was pregnancy hastened, but also their growth rate after being birthed.

"Auu, auuu!" Teana flailed around in Arenade's grasp, reaching out to Kanae with both arms.

"What's the matter? You want to go to mama?" Arenade let the baby go, and to everyone's surprise, she flew to Kanae instead of walking. Although the wings were small, they flapped and carried her afloat through the use of magic.

When Kanae caught Teana, the baby cooed and giggled at him.

"How come you can fly, but I can't yet?" Kanae pouted and received the same look from Teana trying to mimic him.

"Heh. That's just how it is. The gods basically roll a dice, and it looks like Teana might want to test her luck at a casino," Arenade said.

Coming from the demigoddess herself, the explanation probably wasn't a lie. Deities of this world must really like to meddle in mortal affairs, seeing as how Charron was able to enter their realm and the Supreme One zapped away Arenade's powers.

"Well, at least I know my daughter's safer being able to fly and escape from danger easier." Holding the little bundle of joy, Kanae couldn't help but hug Teana and feel an incredible sense of happiness being with her.

"Awww, you two are almost inseparable! I didn't know you could be such a mommy," Edina teased.

"That makes two of us. My parents never really gave me much attention. Moved out as soon as I hit 18 and never looked back. I mean… I never even thought about becoming a parent," he said.

Even though Teana's horns were only tiny blunt nubs on the sides of her forehead, she rubbed the protrusions against Kanae's grown horns nonetheless.

"So what does this mean about us? You're gonna stay here and be a goblin mama to take care of the baby from now on?" Edina asked.

"That's right!" Kanae gasped, having completely forgotten about their purpose. "We were supposed to get back to Bisk to ride for Lograin!"

A shadow fell across Mitty's face as he returned home with captured rabbits. Everyone in the room went quiet.

"You're not going to stay?" Mitty asked.

"Auu?" Teana tilted her head and as she gazed at Kanae, as if she too was searching for an answer.

"I definitely don't want to live in a goblin village all my life, that's for sure. I want to keep adventuring and exploring everything this world has to offer. Maybe we can bring Teana along?" Kanae wondered aloud.

Thedia finally chimed in with a warning. "It would be far too dangerous bringing an infant succubus into Lograin. Unless she's been crowned with a class at birth, which, judging by the lack of a sigil on her wrist she doesn't and at the right level, she won't have the goblin form skill like you have a human one. Bringing her in risks everyone."

It was said that babies could tune into someone's feelings just by being near them. Teana, perhaps sensing the implications of their discussion, began to cry.

"Ahh! Don't cry! Mommy's here," Kanae cooed, cradling Teana and holding her close to his chest.

"Wait, wait, wait. You're not seriously thinking about leaving Teana, are you?" Arenade asked, her fists clenched shut and anger evident in her demeanor.

"But you heard Thedia. She's not going to be safe with us. It's hard enough for me to stay hidden. Besides, Teana can stay here with Mitty until she's old enough to go out on her own," he reasoned.

"You're going to be no different than the parents of the orphans back in Orturic! Do you know how hard it is for a kid to be abandoned? If you were going to leave her, maybe you should have thought twice before opening your whore legs!" She gasped as soon as the insult left her mouth.

Thedia averted her gaze, and Edina pursed her lips. Mitty remained by the door, quietly twiddling his thumbs.

Meanwhile, Kanae had no retort. There was nothing to say in return, because Arenade was right. He didn't think of the consequences or implications this would have on the baby. Teana began to cry uncontrollably, but no matter how much Kanae cradled or rocked her in his arms, she wouldn't stop.

Sighing, Arenade got to her feet and went for the door.

"I just thought you were better than that," she said before leaving.

"Arenade, wait! Where are you going?" Edina chased her to the door.

"I'll meet you guys at Bisk. I don't think I can stand another minute being bathed in all the goblin stank anyway…"

With the mood having taken a somber turn, Kanae figured Arenade had the right idea and it was time to leave. Staying any longer than necessary was going to make it harder to part ways from Teana.

"I'm sorry, Mitty. Will you take care of Teana for me?" Kanae asked.

"Not to worry, I'll protect our daughter with my life! And I don't blame you for wanting to leave. If… If I wasn't a goblin, maybe… you would have wanted to live with me," Mitty quietly said.

"It has nothing to do with you! Y-You're dick has been my favorite so far, and if I could bring you and Teana with me to Lograin, I would. There's just so much more I want to do before settling down," he explained, then knelt down to Mitty's height to kiss him. "You said… you wanted 10, m-maybe… one day in the future."

The goblin lit up like the sun, rejoicing that his desires for a big family might one day come true. After having several babies already, it was hard for Kanae to ignore the pleasures that came with pregnancy. However, he was going to need to be careful from now on with that skill, or Arenade would really never forgive him.

They exited Mitty's home to see a group of goblins trying to hit on Ingrid, who was sitting by one of the firepits and smoking from a cigar stolen from the Outriders. Takumi defended her with a rusty sword and wooden buckler, keeping the horny goblins at bay, even though she didn't look like she needed defending and was just trying to smoke in peace.

"Come on, man! We can be brothers from another mother who shares the same woman!"

"Let's tag-team the babe, buddy!"

"How many times do I have to tell you goblin monkeys? Ingrid isn't interested!" Takumi shouted.

"You're a goblin, too, ya idiot!"

Fed up with the goblins and having finished the cigar, Ingrid flicked the butt into the fire. She threw an arm around Takumi's shoulders, glaring at the other goblins with enough spite in one eye to make up for her missing one.

"The only green-skinned freak I'm interested in is this one. Rest of ya can buzz off and fuck ya own asses," Ingrid snarled.

"Eh?" Takumi blinked in confusion, quickly turning red in the face.

The rest of the goblins let out a collective defeated groan. A few of them saw Kanae and his party emerging from Mitty's cabin, and so thought to try their luck elsewhere. However, seeing the goblin baby in Kanae's arms brought them to despair.

"What the hells? Mitty's gone and knocked up a chick before I did!"

"What about us?"

"Let us put a baby in you, too!"

Thedia and Edina grimaced.

"They're all yours," Edina said, backing away. "You're the one with a taste for goblin dick, right?"

"They have no redeeming qualities for me to even consider having sex with them." Kanae turned the other cheek.

Some of the keener goblins saw the baby in Kanae's arms and, like a moth to a lantern, came closer and realized what Teana really was.

"Is that a female goblin?" one asked.

"Thank the Many! The future of our village is saved!" another declared.

Kanae stomped the ground to silence them, his eyes glowing with magic.

"I swear with every succubus cell in my body if any of you think about doing anything— even just looking at my daughter wrong, I'll come back and charm you all on a death march into a poison fang dire beast." Kanae guarded Teana tighter in his arms, threatening the goblins with a fury only a mother could show and causing many to go back to minding their own business.

As the goblins cleared away, they were replaced by Grint, the elder of the village. With his cane, he slowly made his way up to them.

"Leaving already? Here I was hoping to put a baby in that womb of yours. Want to pop another one?" Grint asked, rubbing his bristly chin and flashing lascivious grin.

"I'm going to be honest. Even if we did, I don't think you'd survive," Kanae said.

"Snu-snu is a goblin's favorite way to go out, but oh hells. Fine. Don't worry about Mitty and Teana. We'll make sure the baby's safe until she matures at the age of five and is ready to leave the nest." He patted Teana on the head.

"Wait, Teana's going to become a full grown adult at five?!" Kanae's jaw dropped.

"Three hells, look at me. I'm lucky to be 32, but death's door is right around the corner!"

"Uu… I just wanted my daughter to be small and cute forever…" He wept.

They walked to the entrance of the goblin village, and Kanae handed Teana over to Mitty.

"Before you go," Kanae's goblin lover began, who revealed a bouquet of uniquely-scented flowers from behind his back. "I wanted to give you these… They have really strong medicinal properties."

"Thanks, Mitty. The rest of your village might not think so, but I think it's amazing that you take interest in flowers. It's also why I know Teana will be in good hands." Kanae smiled.

Mitty blushed, but he was suddenly troubled by trying to keep Teana under control. He was having a hard time holding her, since she kept trying to fly back to her mother. It wasn't until Kanae knelt down and pressed both hands to the baby's chubby cheek did she stop crying. 

"I'll come back for you one day, Teana. Until then, stay here with your dad." Kanae kissed her on the forehead, then rubbed their horns together. "Bye-bye, mommy loves you."

Two tiny green hands grabbed Kanae by the index fingers and refused to let go. The silent and sad look his daughter gave him whittled down the resolve to leave. But it had to be done. He pulled away from her hands.

As Kanae and his party left, Teana started crying again. He stopped at the gates, looking over his shoulder to the baby he had given birth to and had no choice but to leave behind. Turning a deaf ear to those cries was a bigger punch to the gut than anything he had fought until now.

They finally reached Bisk village, a modest place that was built against the side of the Imperial Span, next to the ramp that leads back onto the road. Bisk had a townhall with several brick and wooden houses arranged facing into the village square. Along the stone ramp was a carriage stable from which their coachman, Jarvy, was fixing harnesses onto the steeds. The building, with the large wooden emblem of minotaur horns signpost on the roof, serviced vehicles coming in and out the village.

"Thanks for saving us," Takumi said. "Don't worry about me and Ingrid. We'll hitch a ride back to Orturic."

"Never thought I'd be working under a succubus, but ya helluva lot kinder than Bardell. If ya ever see him, give that bastard hell for all the shit he put us through." Ingrid extended a hand to Kanae.

"That makes two of us. I never thought the woman who sold me into sex slavery would be an employee of mine," Kanae said, clasping her hand.

Together, Takumi and Ingrid tried to speak with a departing wagon pulled by a single horse. Seeing a goblin and someone who looked like a bandit herself, the lupine beastman on it refused and told them to screw off. Kanae caught up to them and stopped the wagon, charming the beastman to accept the passengers.

"Oh, ya sure as hells took your sweet time coming back." Jarvy greeted them with a scowl, both hands on his hips.

Kanae glanced up at the carriage window, where Arenade sat within. They locked eyes, but she turned away sharply. The ride to Lograin was going to be awkward.

"Teana will be fine," Thedia consoled him, sensing his worries. "You have given more love to her than most succubi have received at birth. I'm sure she will grow to become a fine succubus."

Kanae narrowed his eyes on her. "You say that like it's from experience." 

"Auu! Auu!"

Familiar cries startled everyone, and when they turned around, Teana was flapping her tiny wings as she flew into the village.

"Teana?!" Kanae caught the baby, who rubbed her snotty face into his chest. Held tight in her green hand was a flower, with yellow spots on its red petals. She was holding it up to his face.

"Sorry! Teana just started flying, and I couldn't stop her!" Behind Teana, a panting Mitty was racing to catch up.

Several guards and Bisk villagers were taken back by the sight of Teana and Mitty, but more so the goblin succubus. Two guards immediately drew their swords.

"What is a succubus doing here?" one of them asked in panic.

"Get away from that thing before it charms you!" another shouted to them, inching forward with every intention to hurt Teana.

"No, wait! She's harmless!" Kanae backed away.

"There is no way in hell a succubus is harmless!" the angry guard said. "Now let that thing go, and let us do—"

Thick vines entangled the guards' feet and reeled them to the opposite end of the village. When Kanae turned to the carriage, the window had already been shut.

"Kanae, we gotta hurry!" Edina exclaimed as she and Thedia boarded the carriage, and Jarvy jumped onto the driver's seat.

"Just give me a minute!" Kanae shouted back, then tearfully embraced Teana who was still waving the flower in his face. "You're making it really hard to leave you. I wish I could bring you with me, but I can't…"

"Auu!" Teana hugged him back.

It was her final attempt to get him to stay, but it just wasn't possible.

Kanae took off the Enchanted Bracelet that had helped him survive until now and slipped it onto Teana's wrist. The INT stat went from S to A, but the decrease in power didn't matter to him. In exchange, he grabbed the flower that she was trying to give him and smiled.

"I won't forget you, so don't forget about me, okay?" Kanae kissed his daughter's forehead, and in doing so, charmed her to listen obediently to his orders. "Now, stay with your dad."

Calmer now, Kanae returned Teana to Mitty, who held the much quieter succubus baby. He jumped into the carriage where the others were waiting inside, and Arenade was gazing down at her tightly clasped hands and avoiding eye-contact with him.

The carriage began to move. Kanae looked out the window to see Mitty running from the village, carrying Teana in his arms, who was glancing over his shoulders. Even though she physically couldn't resist the charm's effect, tears rolled down the baby's eyes, and it hurt Kanae that he wasn't able to be there to comfort her.
