When Kanae extended a hand towards the Outriders to charm them, a human mage was faster on the draw.
"Greater Dispel!"
The spell came feedbacking to Kanae's mind, dazing him like someone had thrown an anvil at his head.
"Ow…" Kanae groaned.
So much for using charm. It seemed they were prepared for him.
The same mage began incanting a spell under his breath. Fine. If there was no sense in hiding being a succubus…
Kanae quickly tapped Edina on the shoulder, creating a bond between them and feeling the surge of emotions they uniquely shared. The skill drew strength from their memories all the way back to the cave when Kanae first arrived to this world, to her taking an arrow, and later shoving him out of the way from the poison fang,
Edina shuddered, clutching the staff to her chest and squeezing her legs together.
"Whatever you two are planning to do, it has to be now!" Will warned.
From the mage's staff came forth a jet of flames that threatened to burn them into charcoal.
"Arise, Bone Brute!"
A massive creature rose from the depths of a portal that opened up in the ground before them. Using its body as a shield, the creature shielded the four of them from the torrent of fire. Hiding behind it, Kanae flinched from the licking flames that slipped by, but once the spell had ceased, both sides were in shock.
What Kanae remembered as just a giant monster made of bones was now in a full suit of armor, wielding a double-sided greataxe in one hand and tower shield in the other.
"Are… Are you sure this is a good idea?" Will asked, taking a step back from the bone brute.
"I may have underestimated how much my Bond empowered her…" Kanae gulped.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Edina whooped from the shoulder of her behemoth. "Queen of the Undead, coming through!"
The necromancer ordered the bone brute forward, cleaving away at the helpless Outriders who have all fallen into disarray. Their spells and weapons bounced off the armor. They were thrown around like balls being batted out of the ballpark.
Father Morgan clutched his head and gaped in horror as the undead demolished pews, cracked the polished stone floor, and chopped down pillars to get to its enemies.
"Oh, no! Fighting in the Supreme One's cathedral is sacrilegious! Cease! Cease, I beg of you!" the priestly man cried, but Edina was deaf to his pleas as she cackled menacingly at the stronger summon.
"Kanae, you have to tell her to stop! She's going to destroy the cathedral at this rate!" Will yelled.
"Alright, Edina! You have them beat. That's enough!" Kanae shouted, but she wasn't listening.
"What now, Bardell? Your Outriders are nothing compared to me! Cower before Edina, the greatest necromancer to ever live!"
"I said, stop!" he boomed.
Edina tensed up, threw Kanae an apologetic look, then ordered her bone brute to put a pause to the slaughter. The skeletal beast had casted the shield aside and was holding one of the Outriders, decided to carry him over to them.
"S-Sorry… I got a little drunk on power," Edina said.
"I think you got a little too drunk," Kanae scolded, surveying the destruction she had wrought.
Every member of the Outriders was soundly defeated. Many were buried in a pile of debris, groaning in pain. One was even hanging unconscious on the statue of the Supreme One's outstretched arm. But it was at the cost of half the pews being destroyed and obvious signs that a battle had taken place.
It looked like the cathedral was really in need of renovations now. Father Morgan was going to have a rude awakening once he's released from the charm spell.
One thing Kanae had learned, however, was that bonding with Edina made her summons significantly stronger. They might come into good use later.
"How will I face Father Morgan after this?" Will despaired as he gazed up at the Supreme One's statue.
"Before that, he has some explaining to do. Like why was he sheltering Outriders in the cathedral?" Kanae reminded the paladin.
"I can't imagine. I've known Father Morgan to be a kind man, who has never engaged in such illicit activities," he said, then turned to the priest in question.
Father Morgan pursed his lips and looked away. Kanae was able to feel the priest's shame through the charm spell.
"While he's charmed, maybe he can give us some answers. Well, Father Morgan? Do you have anything to do with the Outriders?" Kanae asked the enthralled man.
"I don't! It's the truth! These thugs barged in one day, threatening to kill me and my clerics if I made a peep about them being here. I had no other choice… Bishop Rudo entrusted his chiefly duties and the wellbeing of the clerics to me so that he could run for mayor. Oh, he won't be happy about the state of the cathedral," Father Morgan sulked.
There was no lie in his words. He couldn't lie anyway. But there must be a reason why the Outriders decided to occupy the cathedral.
Will sighed, almost as if ashamed of himself. "I had no idea Father Morgan was going through such a thing. It must have happened within the past week because I visited not too long ago."
"The guy can't lie, right?" Edina asked. "Then he's probably said all he knew. Maybe try working some succubus interrogation on these assholes."
The assholes being the Outriders. Unfortunately, they were all knocked out to be of any use.
"Will, can you heal them?" Kanae asked.
"I can, but my healing spells merely restore wounds. It doesn't bring someone back to consciousness," he explained.
Maybe the Outriders being passed out was a blessing in disguise.
"Wait here," Kanae said. "I have another idea."
After informing Renya at the Red Harpy of what went down, she was a little too eager about lending a hand. Her crew rolled by to load the Outriders onto two wagons. Unbeknownst to the public, a pile of criminals was being transported from one end of Lograin to the other, covered only by a leather tarp.
Kanae and Edina found themselves back at the casino, but with Will tagging along this time around.
"I, uh… do not feel comfortable entering an establishment of ill-repute," Will said from the sidewalk.
"You blew your gold on prostitutes, but gambling's where you draw the line?" Edina asked.
"Okay, hey… I-I am endeavoring to reform back to my righteous ways!"
A few prostitutes who were soliciting outside their brothels took notice and came their way. One pretty elf sidled up next to Will, hooking an arm around him.
"Why hello, cutie. Interested in committing a few sins tonight?" she asked.
"Maybe I'll take my chances inside," Will said, hastily snapping away from the prostitute.
When they entered, the blue harpy at the front named Klee recognized Kanae and Edina immediately.
"Oh, hello again! Ms. Rown is waiting for you in the back. Same room as last time," Klee whispered.
Kanae and Will were about to walk ahead until Edina pressed to the glass window.
"I'd like to exchange gold for gambling chips!" Edina exclaimed.
"No, you're not!" Kanae said, dragging the squirreling away by the shoulders.
"Awww, come on! Money is earned to be spent and gambled!"
Holding Edina in one hand, Kanae was about to knock on the door with the other until he heard the sound of struggling within. He traded uneasy looks with his companions, who swallowed hard with hesitation.
"It's open! Come right in!" Renya called from the other side before his knuckle reached the door.
Kanae opened the door to find Renya massaging the shoulders of a lone Outriders member, who was bound to a chair. The muscular human man, shirtless and only wearing a pair of trousers, was almost too comically large for the small wooden seat. His face was bruised up, evident signs of having been acquainted with Renya's fists were obvious by her bloody knuckles.

"W-What have I gotten myself into?" Will stammered.
"Welcome!" Renya threw her arms toward them. "Take a seat. Enjoy the show. Can I offer some refreshments? Maybe we can play another round of Red Harpy and have the squirreling bankrupt me?"
"Meh. Kanae wouldn't let me," Edina said, taking front row seats to the beating.
The pirate lord pulled out a handkerchief to wipe her knuckles and descended the stage from some steps off to the side.
"By the way, Kanae. Thedia and a few of my most trusted have set off for Bisk. You have my word as a Rown that your daughter will be safe," Renya said.
Kanae felt a weight leave his shoulders.
"You don't know how much that means to me, Renya. Thank you."
When things calmed down in Lograin, they might be able to bring Teana here.
"I thought you were trying to at least stay on Bardell's neutral side? Can't imagine this is going to be good for business when you beat up one of his men," Kanae said, walking up to the edge of the stage.
"Like gambling, navigating who your friends and enemies are is about as dangerous as being out at sea. You will never know when that gentle wave in the distance becomes large enough to topple your ship. It's all in the luck of the draw, casting the die, and calling bluffs. I asked for your help in finding clues about Bishop Rudo, and you found me Outriders taking residence in one of his churches."
"That's to mean the tide's turning, right?" Edina asked.
"Winner winner dragon dinner!" Renya flashed a smile and amusedly fired finger guns in Edina's direction, clicking her tongue as she did so. She turned the fingers at her Outrider captive next, which was bristling with magical energy. "But I need to be sure. Am I being played? Or am I overthinking things? Which is why I need Kanae to help draw the answers out."
"I ain't saying shit," the beaten man said, spitting on the floor
"We'll see about that." Kanae flew onto the stage and landed gingerly in front of him.
If Bardell and the Outriders had any association with Bishop Rudo, then they all had Arenade fooled. Kanae had no interest in letting anyone mess with her except him. However, when he tried to charm the captive, the spell didn't take effect. Kanae went behind to check his bound wrists, and sure enough there was a sigil.
"Damn. Too high level for me, huh? Maybe I'll just help myself then."
Kanae stripped himself naked and heard the sound of wine being poured into glasses. He glanced over his shoulder to see Renya making herself comfortable for the show, while Edina and Will were red up to their ears.
Licking his lips, Kanae pulled off the Outriders pants to have his way with him, but he was disappointed to come face to face with a flaccid penis.
The Outrider grinned. "Heh. What now, succubus? Can't work your mojo, can you? That's too bad! I have erectile dysfunction! Ahahaha!"
"That's not something to be happy about!" Kanae retorted.
Frustration welled up in his chest. It was insulting that this man wasn't getting hard. Kanae was quite proud of his seductive body, but this turned out to be a hit to his pride instead. He pointed a finger at the penis and casted Turn Horny, but nothing happened. Still limp like a dead snake.
"Alright, fine… Time to try a little heavy-handed tactic. Will, I'm going to need you to heal him so we can keep going until he breaks."
"Now you're involving me in your torture schemes?! Oh, Supreme One… please, forgive me…" Will grumbled.
Kanae uncoiled his whip, allowing the dragon-scaled tip to clatter on the floor at the Outriders' feet. The man gulped hard.
"Do your worst, succubus." He growled.
Brandishing the whip, Kanae cracked it hard against the Outriders' chest and left a gash wound. He howled in agony, but as quickly as the injury bit into his skin, Will healed it right up.
However…
Crack! Crack! Crack!
With each snap of the whip, the man's penis throbbed harder until it became erect.
"Ahh! Yeowch! It… It hurts! But somehow… it… O-Oh… a little more to the right chest please— ow!"
"I didn't sign up to grant you pleasure!" Kanae exclaimed.
"Please keep going! It's working! I didn't even know this was possible, but you're curing my erectile dysfunction… I can go to brothels again at this rate!" he pleaded.
"Tell us what you Outriders were doing at the Cathedral of One, or it's back to being a limp noodle!"
Conflict raged in the man's heart and mind, but mostly his dick. He looked down and gasped that it was beginning to go soft again.
"K… Korvo! Korvo told us to!"
Reina and Edina leaned forward in their seats.
That bastard Korvo was here?
"Why? And is Korvo in Lograin?" Kanae asked, cracking the whip on his thigh and making his penis stand again.
"Aahh—! Y-Yes! But he didn't tell us why… only that we take over the cathedral and wait for orders!"
Kanae cracked the whip again.
"Where is Korvo hiding?" He pressed harder.
"Korvo didn't say… he knew you coming… he knew what you were capable of… so Korvo's being careful about who he lets in on his plans!"
Disappointed, Kanae didn't whip him. A sad, puppy-dog look appeared on his face.
"Please! The other guys make fun of me all the time for my erectile dysfunction! Not even healers or doctors can fix it… You're all I got, and I'm so close!"
"One more question: is Bardell and Korvo trying to make Bishop Rudo the next mayor?" Kanae asked.
"I-I don't know, but before being ordered to come to Lograin, Bardell did say he planned to come here to celebrate after being knighted by the Knights of Colors. That's all I know, really—"
Good enough.
Kanae flourished the whip over his head and brought it down hard on the Outrider, then one more time—
"Thank yoouuu— aahhhhhhhhhhh!" He trembled like an earthquake and projectile ejaculated so hard that his load hit the ceiling, then passed right out.
[Congratulations! You are now level 52!]
"Wait… Why did I level up from that?!" Kanae cried.
"Fuck me in the crow's nest of my ship. You got more answers out of him in five minutes than I did beating him up for an hour. Well done!" Renya applauded.
One among them didn't share the same excitement. Edina was shaking in her seat, clutching herself and quivering as she breathed.
"Bardell… is coming to Lograin?"
"Why would Bardell come all the way to Lograin?" Kanae asked aloud.
"The knighting ceremony takes place in Radevic," Renya began. "It should end within a few weeks. Though now that I put some thought into it, he will be coming around the same time as the election. Quite the coincidence…."
Chances are, the two really were in cahoots. But why?
Renya paced to the front of the room to grab her tricorn hat, twirling it on one finger.
"Change of plans. The Outriders actually runs a brothel in Lograin. We may find some answers there. How would you three like to partake in the city's darker vices? On my coin, of course."
