Chapter 80: Chapter 64 – Infiltrating a Casino

Tonight was the night that Kanae, Edina, and Will would try to infiltrate an Outriders-owned establishment in an attempt to find dirt on Bishop Rudo. They had returned to the Red Harpy to meet up with Renya, who had disguises ready. While having their clothes fitted and make-up done by a group of attractive harpies, Kanae was unable to properly appreciate their beauty from how anxious he was.

"Can you guys not look so nervous?" Edina asked. "It's going to put a damper on my luck when I start high rolling."

"How aren't you a nervous wreck? We're walking straight into enemy territory, you know? The same Outriders that you used to be a part of!" Kanae reminded her.

"It's precisely because they're Outriders that I'm so ready for this! I get a chance to clean house on their own turf. I'm too busy thinking of how to spend all their money after I win it all to be nervous," she said, grinning and drooling out of eagerness.

If only Kanae had an ounce of that confidence. Although, the one who needed it the most…

Will's teeth wouldn't stop chattering. He was dressed in a blue coat with gold trim and floral embroidery. His blonde hair and soft features made him look like a young noble.

He began to pray aloud. "Supreme One, forgive me. Grant me your strength, for tonight I will sin again, but I do so in your name. Worry not! I shall not give into temptation for the sake of sating my carnal desires. This is for a greater cause, to purge the wickedness from your church!"

"Supreme One has no bone to throw into this fight, paladin-boy!" Renya slapped Will hard on the ass, launching him a foot into the air. When her piercing eyes snapped to Kanae, she nibbled on her lower lip and purred. "Now you are a sight. If we weren't short on time, I would throw you onto the bed right now."

Kanae shrunk underneath Renya's compliments and blushed redder than a tomato. In the tall, standing mirror, a beautiful human woman stared back at him. She was wearing a shoulderless red and gold dress, revealing a bare back all the way down to an inch above the crease where the buttcheeks began. If that wasn't revealing enough, the thigh splits in the outfit left nothing to the imagination, and would show everything if the wind blew the wrong way. Instead of the usual ponytail, her hair was let down and done into curls.

This, however, wasn't just someone else. This was himself. It was Kanae Toyomi.

"Uu… Could you have given me something that wouldn't accidentally flash someone?" Kanae asked.

"And miss the chance to dress you up like a high end prostitute? Ha! No way!" Renya cackled.

"You dressed me like a prostitute?!" He groaned.

Meanwhile, Edina was less scantily-clad. She wore an emerald dress and had her tail dyed in a lighter color. That way the Outriders wouldn't recognize her. Fake but convincing gold jewelry chains were attached to the back of her dress, running down the length of the tail. The entire outfit could fool anyone at a glance that she came from affluence.

Renya clapped her hands twice and ordered the harpies out of the room. "Alright, it's almost time to get the show on the road. You three will be headed to Jewel, an upscale brothel and casino run by the Outriders. They have an underground den where VIPs and high rollers are brought. There, assuming Korvo is around, shall be where you find that slippery elven bastardYour task is to attract the attention of the floor managers by winning and betting high, so they bring you downstairs where they play high stakes. I mean like, throwing castles around high stakes."

"Leave that to me!" Edina exclaimed.

"Guh… Or if we're unlucky, that's where we end up losing our savings…" Kanae clutched his stomach, feeling the nausea rising.

They departed for Jewel by carriage and reached an entire block taken up by a single building with a wide front courtyard, surrounded by an iron-wrought fence. People dressed in fine clothing idled about outside, hanging around fountains and benches wreathed by landscaped trees and bushes.

"Right then, off you three go. I'll be here with the carriage, awaiting your return with a charmed Korvo in tow. May lady luck watch over you." Renya grinned.

Edina was the first to leap out of the carriage, beaming and raring to throw their small fortune away. As soon as Kanae stepped out, he immediately became the center of attention. He felt hundreds of gazes, many with lewd intentions that molested his body.

The nervousness Kanae was feeling earlier vanished, replaced by an overwhelming arousal that lit up his groin.

Look at me more, Kanae thought as his chest heated up.

On the way up to Jewel, they passed by a lot of guards who didn't look the part of the city watch. No doubt they were Outriders.

"I didn't know the Outriders were this rich," Kanae whispered.

"They aren't," Edina said, keeping her eyes peeled. "This is probably one of their most successful legal ventures, but I doubt it succeeded without blood money. Money that I'm about to steal. Hehe…"

The trio climbed up the steps and entered a massive gambling hall, much larger than the Red Harpy. Glass and crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, marble statues and fountains were a common sight, and work girls waltzed around in skimpier clothing than Kanae to hand out trays of alcohol.

"Okay, where do we start?" Kanae asked, taking a deep breath to steel himself.

Before anyone could make a decision, a pair of women who were workers here sidled up to either side of Will.

"Why hello there. I haven't seen your face before," a loppy-eared babe said as she hooked an arm around Will's elbow.

"A visiting nobleman? You must tell us all about yourself!" an elf exclaimed, taking his other arm.

"No, wait— I, uh… help! My faith is in danger again!" Will cried as both of them dragged him away into the crowds.

"May the Supreme One be with you." Kanae prayed out loud.

Now to look for a table to gamble at.

"Hm?" 

Edina was gone. She was standing right next to him just a second ago, watching Will get taken away. Now she was nowhere to be seen.

It wasn't until a series of sharp gasps did Kanae finally find her at a roulette table.

"All in for 00! Let's go, baby!" Edina shoved all her chips into the double zero block.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Kanae cried.

"What? I'm going high stakes. Just sit back and watch me win it all," she said with the confidence of gamblers who usually end up losing.

The roulette wheel, like many of the gambling games, was a game of chance. A ball was spun on the wheel until it landed on a colored number. The player had the choice of picking a color, number, rows, columns, blocks, or a single number to place their bets on, with varying levels of payout depending on the probability. 

However, most players would spread their chips across multiple choices to cover their bases instead of going all in, thus maximizing win probability and minimizing loss.

What Edina just did was throw all her chips into one number, and in a wheel with 37 slots, she had an unfathomably high chance of losing everything.

Even the people who had crowded the table to see what she was doing, gaped in absolute horror. Others laughed.

"Always the beginners who think they can take it all," one man chided.

"It's definitely going to the house. She's about to go broke," another added.

"Ma'am, you understand that all our games have anti-magic enchantments to prevent tampering. Don't try to do anything rash or you will be thrown out,"  the dealer warned, gesturing to the guards behind him.

"I know what I'm doing. Quit stalling and spin that bad boy already," Edina taunted them.

Kanae gulped as the ball was thrown into the roulette wheel and spun. Everyone held their breaths. The ball began to slow down, and Kanae was feeling sick to his stomach again. Edina had 100,000 gold worth of chips on that one slot.

Then it happened. The metal ball clattered wildly across the slots and finally…

Landed on 00. Everyone at the table went crazy.

"H-How…?" The dealer braced both hands at the table, staring at where the ball had landed.

"Pay up." Edina grinned, hand extended to the dealer.

Kanae's eyes started spinning. He watched as the dealer reluctantly slid three black card tiles and seven red chips across the table.

Not wanting to be outdone, Kanae decided to play poker and joined a table of two. He was familiar with this game of bluffs and luck. However, he had an advantage that the human gentlemen at the table didn't— being a succubus.

"Well, well. What a brave woman to join," the younger of the two men said.

"Miss, you don't need to gamble. How about I pay you to come back with me tonight instead?" the other, much older gentleman asked.

They were cocky, that was for sure. They also each had a woman behind them, likely their girlfriends for the evening.

"I think I like the idea of spending your money at a prostitute later instead." Kanae winked, buying into the pot with two 5,000 gold chips.

Once the cards were dealt, Kanae glanced down at his two cards. His eyes went. Edina wasn't the only one blessed with luck tonight. Two fives. This was a good start. If the dealer drew another five, that gave him a three of a kind.

"Heh." The young poker player smirked and shook his head.

Damn. Kanae accidentally let his fortune show on his face. The other two players were going to fold now, knowing that he could have a good hand. He couldn't let that happen.

So…

When the dealer cast his gaze to the young man, Kanae charmed him before he could fold. 

"Raise," he said, tossing in 50,000 and blinking in confusion. "Eh? Why did I…"

"What are you doing? That woman clearly made a bluff!" his girlfriend whispered, shaking his shoulder.

"I-I just thought it was a good idea!"

The older of the two threw them a suspicious look, obviously expecting a fold from him. He also tried to back out, but Kanae charmed him, too. All of them continued to raise until the pot was 350,000 between three players and the dealer.

It came time to finally reveal the cards, and Kanae's hand was bigger than the other two. They put their heads into their hands, groaning over their loss.

"Why did I keep raising?!"

"I don't know what came over me…"

"Well, looks like the new girl wins the pot," the dealer declared.

Kanae compelled the two at the table to leave, and continued to play and charm new players buying in until his total winnings totaled 2,350,000. Eventually, the dealer closed the table and his guards shooed everyone away. Kanae being the only exception.

"It seems you had quite the luck on our winning streak. We at Jewel would like to extend an invitation for you to join us downstairs. Interested?" the dealer asked.

Bingo.

"If it means I get to play against better players, then sure." Kanae smiled.

While following the dealer, Kanae scanned the floor for Edina and Will. Neither of them were anywhere to be seen.

"If it's your companions you're searching for, they have already been invited downstairs," the dealer said.

"They have?" Kanae raised a brow.

Wait. How did he know they were together? Did he see them come in as a group?

"Where are they really?" Kanae asked, charming the dealer and causing him to tense up.

"D-Downstairs… Korvo has them tied up, and I'm bringing you to them to be ambushed," he explained.

"Of course it was never going to be this easy…"

But now was no time to let nerves take over. His party was captured. It was up to him to get them out of this.

Kanae was led down a brightly-lit corridor and into a modest gambling den. The gambles and tables, however, were all pushed to the side. Instead of players, Edina and Will sat bound, gagged, and tied to chairs. Surrounding them were a large number of guards, who parted way to reveal Korvo sitting behind a desk.

"Mmmm! Mmmm!" Edina wiggled until the cloth gag slipped from her mouth. "These bastards took my money— mmrph?!"

"You three are very meddlesome. Did you really think you can waltz into Outriders territory and not be caught? Your disguises are hardly secretive. I'm honestly insulted!" Korvo slammed his hands onto the desk.

"I don't know what you're talking about. We're just here to play at your casino. That's it," Kanae playfully lied.

"Oh, no. No, no, no. As if I can believe that. Why are you really here and who sent you?" he asked.

Korvo was too sharp for his own good, and Kanae was running out of ideas.

A sudden knock startled everyone in the room. Clearly, none of them, especially not even Korvo, was expecting company.

"Mr. Korvo, there's an elven woman who would like to speak to you. Says it's about business," a man on the other side said.

"Tell them to come back later. I'm busy!" Korvo yelled back.

"Uhm… I don't think she's going to take no for an—"

Bang!

A beastman crashed through the door. Kanae sidestepped just in time to avoid getting hit. They stared at the unconscious beastman who laid face down on the ground with a round, magic burn on his back, then glanced up to find Renya at the door holding the smoking barrel of her flintlock.

"Renya?!" Kanae uttered, choking on his own spit.

Renya winked and blew Kanae a kiss. Seven dark elven clones manifested, each standing next to and pointing their guns at Korvo's goons.

"Don't move a muscle! I've got trigger fingers, and I'm not afraid to twitch harder than a virgin's first climax!" Renya warned.

"Renya?! W-What are you doing here?" Korvo jumped from his seat, but the real Renya pushed him down by the shoulders from behind.

From Renya's free hand emerged a bluish magic dagger that she deftly twirled in his face.

"I just told you, Korvo: I'm here to do business." Renya smirked.
