“So, this is your class?” Angelica glanced at the plate hanging above the classroom door. “42S03A, huh…”
I placed my hand on the metal door handle hesitatingly. “Um, are you sure about this?”
“Just go in first, I still have some finishing touches to do here.” Without wasting another moment, she swung the door open and pushed me inside the classroom.
Miss Ang was in the middle of saying something when I entered, so she gave me a surprised look. “Avery…youʼre back. Seraphine told me everything, are you alright?”
“Y-yes, Miss Ang. It wasnʼt anything serious,” I hastily said, feeling everyoneʼs curious stares on me, and quickly took my seat.
“I see, thatʼs all good, then. Weʼll let the school deal with the incident from here.” She cleared her throat and addressed the class again. “Anyway, I know that this is quite sudden, but we have a new student joining us from today onwards. She just transferred to our school from overseas, so please treat her as one of your fellow friends and show her our Singaporean hospitality.”
“A transfer student at this time of the year?” A few classmates began whispering among themselves at this unexpected news.
Miss Ang gestured towards the front door. “Come in.”
A collective gasp rose from the class almost instantaneously. Shocked murmurs permeated the classroom; some classmates in the back row even stood up to get a clearer look at the newcomer, unable to believe their own eyes.
Elegant features. Long, flowing ebony hair tied into a simple but stylish ponytail. Big bright vermillion eyes embellished with thick and long natural eyelashes. Wearing a uniform that should be the same as the group of girls from my class, but still looks entirely different. With a voice like the murmuring of a clear stream which made even the girls swooning over her, she spoke to the class of stupefied students with confidence befitting of a princess.
“I’m Angelica Long Tian Shi. Long means ‘authority’, while Tian Shi means ‘heavenʼs messenger’.” Angelica bowed politely and continued, “I was born and raised in Hong Kong. At the end of last year, my family migrated to Singapore due to my father’s work, so I will be attending school here for a year. Pleased to make your acquaintance.”
Miss Ang whiteboard marker made screeching noises as she wrote Angelicaʼs name on the board: 龍天使

A girl couldnʼt hold back her astonishment and exclaimed to her friend, “she looks just like a model!”
“Look at how white her skin is…” her friend whispered back.
The girls had begun gossiping among themselves, while the boys were busy burning the sight before their eyes into their minds. Even Liam, who was the most boisterous person I know, was unusually quiet as he stared at Angelica open-mouthed.
“All right, let’s see…” Clearing her throat with a slight cough, Miss Ang scanned the classroom and pointed at a vacant back row seat in the corner. “How about you—”
“No thanks, Miss Ang. Iʼll sit in the front row instead.” Without the slightest hesitation, she turned and gracefully walked towards the vacant desk at the very front of my row, right in front of my desk. “If you donʼt mind me sitting here…Avery.”
“U-uh, no, not at all.” My mind was struggling to make comparisons between the graceful, refined lady talking to me right now and the bumbling silver-haired girl who barged into the menʼs restroom minutes earlier.
She gave a demure, sweet smile that made my heart quiver. “Thank you, I look forward to getting to know you better.”
I blinked. “Me t-too…”
Maybe having a Goddess companion wasnʼt so bad after all.
