Liam quickly ran into the school hall, shouting, “guys, did yʼall just hear that explo—huh?”
I was in the middle of restoring the damage done to the floor, while Seraphine was sternly reprimanding both Angelica and Therese, who were both forced to kneel down and apologise before her feet.
“Do you understand just how dangerous that was, you two?”
“It was all Lukterasiaʼs fault! She provoked me first, you saw it yourself! ”
“HAA?! You threatened me first and launched the first attack, donʼt pretend that you are innocent!”
“Stop fighting like kids, will you??”
At such a bizarre scene, Liam simply froze in shock, his mouth opening and shutting like a goldfish out of water.
“Sorry, give me a moment…” I straightened the last of the wrapped floorboards and approached the flabbergasted Liam. “You’re Averyʼs partner, right? Please take care of him on my behalf.”
He stared at me as though I just said something mad before nodding his head uncertainly.
“You have my gratitude.” With that, I closed my eyes and collapsed into his arms.
“W-w-whaa?! A-Avery, get a grip on yourself!”
Liamʼs panicked voice roused me from my drowsiness; I slowly opened my bleary eyes and gazed at his stupefied face.
“Good…morning?” I mumbled, blinking in confusion. “Did I die?”
Liamʼs lips trembled for a moment before smiling. “Morning, Avery, youʼre still alive. And please get off my chest.”
“O-oh, sorry!” I hurriedly stood on my feet and glanced at my surroundings. “Was all that just a dream…eh? S-Seraphine?”
She looked at me upon hearing her name and tilted her head to the side. “Oh, you want to scold these two idiots as well? Be my guest.”
“No, uh, well…” I stared at the pouting Angelica and indignant Therese still lying prostrate on the floor and felt a little pity for them, so I told them to stand back up to their feet. “Donʼt ever do that again, do you understand?”
Therese sulked. “I did nothing wrong—in fact, if I hadn't created that dimension, your Goddess friend here would have caused irreversible damage to the world…”
“Go and die already, will you?” Angelica spat, scowling like a mean rat. “I canʼt go back to Heaven as long as you exist in this world, you demon…”
I exchanged exasperated looks with Seraphine as the two glared daggers at each other.
“T-Teacher, over here!” A student hurried in through the hall doors, followed by a female teacher wearing a grim expression. “Just now, there was some kind of explosion in here, t-then the floor…floor…?”

We all stiffened at the sight of the young teacher in a white blouse unbuttoned just low enough to suggest cleavage and tight black skirt; taking a quick look at us, she locked eyes with Therese and sighed ever so slightly.
“Iʼll take it from here, thank you for notifying me,” she said—and to our sheer astonishment—she raised her hand and knocked the student out in one swift motion. “Your Excellency, Vezilecia told you not to do anything stupid before, did she not?”
“Why do you also assume that I created this mess?” Therese snapped, pulling at her hair in frustration. “Is this how lowly you think of your master, Vezilecia?”
Meanwhile, Angelica snickered a little too loudly. “Poor Demon Lord, your subordinate is now your teacher?”
“Shut up.”
“Your Excellency, should I deal with this rouge from Heaven?” Vezilecia asked politely, summoning a large black mass of mana in her hand as she stepped towards Angelica.
“Ooh, another challenger, eh?” she said haughtily, her hair glowing silver with a powerful surge of divine magic. “Come at me—”
Seraphine and I smacked her on the head in unison, whereas Therese hastily waved Vezilecia down.
“Fuck, that hurts!” Angelica cried, holding on to her head tightly with both hands as she hobbled away to a corner in pain (no one but Liam bothered to comfort her).
“Whoʼs that human boy?” Vezilecia asked quietly, throwing a cautious look at Liam.
“Liam, heʼs my best friend…but uh, he can be quite weird at times,” I mumbled, shrugging.
“Hmm, the Heroʼs best friend must be strong too…oh, my apologies, I have forgotten to introduce myself.” She gave a courteous bow. “Iʼm Vezilecia, the chief Demon General under Her Excellency. Please call me Faye, my human name, in public. I believe we have met once before, Hero, but you killed me so swiftly I doubt you remember who I was.”
In all honesty, I killed so many demons in my past life that I couldnʼt recall either how the Demon Generals I came across looked like or their specific names; regardless, I managed a friendly smile. “Of course I remember you…you were a fearsome opponent second only to Therese.”
“Iʼm honoured to receive such high praise from the legendary Hero,” she said, returning my smile. “I hear you are also consistently on the Deanʼs List of this institution for the past four years, as an educator I canʼt help but admire your talent, Avery.”
“Thank you, um, Miss Faye.” I shifted my gaze to Seraphine, who had been listening to her iPod this entire time. “Then…Seraphine?”
Therese also stared at her suspiciously. “Right, we all know each other from Eltshion, but I donʼt recall anyone like you…and you seem to know how to utilise Eltshionʼs magic as well. Who are you?”
Removing her earphones, Seraphine blinked and smiled sheepishly. “Uh, how should I put it…Iʼm not from Eltshion.”
“Huh?” Therese, Miss Faye and I uttered unanimously.
“You see, before Stefania was born, there was actually a Hero summoned from another world to defeat the Demon Lord…” she said slowly. “...and that Hero was me.”
