"Are you sure this even exists?" Mallow pondered aloud for the umpteenth time.

"Yup." Said our fated protagonist, Aria.

"We've been searching for hours... Do you really think this is what's important right now?" Prodded Loretta.

"Yup."

Aria, the hero of legends, was in his own personal party, on a personal endeavor, looking for an extremely personal item. He was accompanied by his childhood friend and support mage, Loretta, and also a hired rogue, Mallow. The whole city was waiting, not so patiently, for Aria and co. to defeat the Demon Lord and bring peace to humanity, but it could wait. Aria had something in mind he could just not ignore...

He had found out about an exquisite potion, in the Valley of Bewilderment. The myths surrounding the potion state that it could satisfy the desire of the user to be any form they wished. Popular opinion, or common sense as so frequently stated to Aria, was that it was too dangerous to let somebody consume it, lest they become so powerful they could not control themselves. That they might lose sight of their humanity and act as a beast. Aria knew, however, that this was a risk he was willing to take.

"What are you even planning to do if we find it? What then?" Asked Loretta, with all the compassion of a brick flying through a window.

"You'll see." Replied our hero.

Aria had always been rather withdrawn from others, preferring to have as little human contact as possible. This gave a stoic impression, if it weren't for his eyes. Wide yet narrow, his eyes gave off a feeling of judgement if peered into, causing many conversations to end before they could start.

"Wait." Mallow held his hand up high, signalling the group to wait, hoping at least one of two signals would work. "I can sense a creature with immense power up ahead. We should scout it out before getting close."

He drew out a magical sonar device from his knapsack, hoping to intercept the pulses with the creature's own magic power, to check on its location and try to find a better vantage point. Mallow was a methodical and calculated individual, who always wanted to leave the odds in his favor before approaching an unknown situation.

"Let's just get on with it." Replied our ever present hero.

"Let me at least cast some buffs! H-hold it!" Loretta specialized in healing and support buffs, similarly to a cleric but without the restrictive constraints of the church that she didn't like. Her main job was to make sure the hero didn't get himself killed, something that was increasingly difficult the more brazen he became. Both herself and Mallow agreed to come on this personal venture, but she often regretted being the only responsible person in the group.

Before Loretta could cast, before Mallow could gather information, Aria walked at a leisurely place into danger, straight into a trap. Vines sprouted from the ground and grasped his ankles, as a bald man's head slowly bobbed up into view from his magical sofa as he saw what his trap had ensnared. The old man peered through his glasses with a smirk, though it was hard to tell just from his expression what he thought.

"...Ah, aha! What fool has walked into my kitchen? I'll have you making desserts for me, until you perish! Your mystery inspiration shall be - Guahh!"

Unfortunately for the old man, Aria was just too overpowered to stay controlled by simple plants. He threw his legendary sword straight at him, stabbing him through the chest.

"B-but, how? How could such a sweet genius such as myself be defeated so quickly..." The bald man choked on his own blood, falling, and his spell falling apart as well.

"Sigh..." Aria sighed in response.

"He really just said sigh..." whispered Mallow, mostly to his own amazement.

"You... You idiot!" Loretta hissed, walking up to smack Aria on the cheek. "You could have gotten killed!"

Aria shrugged his shoulders. "This happens every time. I'll be fine even if something does happen."

"That's not the point! We could have helped you! We could have-"

The hero majestically walked forward to the den of the old man, ignoring his childhood friend. It appears that this old man was an alchemist, making various cakes and suspicious pastries. Among them were more traditional potions, though decorated in whimsical theming. There were also many corpses nearby, seemingly random passersby who were forced into his cooking games, but perhaps did not win their freedom. He was lucky that this person was alone, although likely he would have acted as reckless even if there were a group of people. He was finally getting to the potion of his dreams...

"This... This is...!"

"Yeah yeah, you found it I gather? Can we go home now?" The friendly rogue Mallow, still annoyed from being ignored, offered his suggestion.

Gulp "Guhc-guhc-guhc-guhc-guhc!"

"Did you just..." Mallow stared in wonderment as Aria immediately downed the contents of the potion, without even confirming that it was the right one.

"W-wait, this wasn't the plan," Loretta stated, worry coloring her voice like a kaleidoscope.

"Ahhh..." Aria let out of a sound of refreshment, as the only one without worry of the consequences of his actions.
