"Why were you holding back?"

She asked with authority in her voice.

"Huh?" I said as mode three stopped working.

'What is she talking about?'

"You were... Holding back. Your body always relaxes when you are about to attack but gets tense when you were about to defend. You also adapted to my attack pattern yet you didn't exploit them skillfully. Your dodging skills are fast, almost reaching my speed yet you don't attack as fast as you are dodging. So tell me, why are you holding back?"

Oh, so that's what she meant by holding back.

"Hmm, a bit of a habit I supposed?" I said in a thinking position. To be honest, I don't know myself.

"I need another answer."

Kinda unfair don't you think?

"As I said, it-"

*boom

I wasn't even able to finish my sentence as she interrupted me by attacking me with a laser.

The world slowed down as I saw the laser slowly coming after my head. I tilted it a little bit to dodge her attack but I was too slow and it grazed my cheek. It wasn't that painful so I just ignored it.

I then look behind me with a surprised expression just to see the laser continued to travel in a straight line as it continues to destroy everything on its path. Fortunately, the attack was made on the rooftop of a 17-floor building and it was a pretty small attack so it didn't hit any people, I think.

"See, you could've easily dodged an attack that can travel at insane speeds."

Yeah, now I'm pissed.

"Okay, first of all, why can't you accept my answer? Second, I didn't even know I was holding back and third, why are you so pushy about it huh? And even if I was holding back that should've benefited you right? Fourth, why do you need to prove something with a drastic method? You could've killed many people! And Lastly, WHO THE FUCK CARES?!!!!"

I said the last sentence at the top of my lungs after I brushed the blood off my cheeks. Like seriously, I always try to be professional on this stuff but she just clicked my limit for being this dumb.

She then made a surprised expression after seeing my outburst but quickly calms down as she says...

"I... don't want to fight a none serious opponent. It just feels like... They are mocking me for doing so."

"SHOULDN'T YOU BE THANKFUL THAT I WAS HOLDING BACK?!! JUST KILL THEM WHEN YOU HAVE THE CHANCE!!!"

"Then why didn't you... Kill me?" She said as she tilted her head.

This time I stayed silent and quickly calms down.

"Hmm, the way you contradict yourself is very confusing. Maybe what you only speak of is the one that you aspire to be? Nonetheless, you are a very confusing-"

"Because you seem like on the good side." I cut her off before she could even continue.

She then gave me a questioning expression.

"Why do you think so?"

"It's... A part of my talent. It lets me see the true colours of some people."

This was the easiest explanation I could give to her. Although it isn't confirmed, I'm willing to bet that she isn't a bad person.

"That's a... Rather convenient talent to have."

"*sigh* yes it is."

Talent is an ability that you could do and train in a short amount of time. Mine is instincts, it allows me to read a specific person's feelings and predict an upcoming event that may or may not happen. Talents are still a mystery as to why and how it works and I hope it stays that way.

"You know... I only fought you to test my current strength."

She then goes back to her normal form as she walks past me with no Ill intent. Now that I have thought about it, she never released her killing intent. I guess that she never planned to kill me in the first place.

Everything said above, I still have a grudge against her and it's so obvious. Why aim for the head exactly?

She then sits at the edge of the building behind me while looking at the setting sun.

I also reluctantly sat at the edge of the building but a bit farther away from her. I don't want to fight again.

Now that I think about it...

"You could've just had asked me to spar with you right?"

This time, she stayed silent. Oh, so she didn't think of that? LIKE THIS IS COMMON SENS-

*Please stand by*

"Well, I wanted to... Feel the thrill of the match." She said as if she isn't lying.

"*sigh* you know what? Fine, you win. I'm still angry about what happened earlier alright?"

She just nodded like a kid listening to her mother.

"So, where did you come from?"

It's pretty weird to casually talk to your enemies like this after you tried to kill each other but it seems like I'm used to it.

"I'm from another world." She said without pause.

'Huh?'

"Really?"

She just nodded as if that were the most normal thing in the world.

'Another world? Like aliens and stuff? wait, aliens are real? Then, did they already invade us?'

Such Random thoughts crossed my mind. She is also being honest so she could be telling me facts or she is one delusional girl.

"So, what are you going to do now?"

She started at the city as she thinks deeply about the answer.

"I can live with you."

Her answer made me rethink my life.

"I don't... have any means to survive in this world without common sense and money so you could take care of me while I'm learning about these things."

Wait a minute.

"When did I become a babysitter?" I asked with a stern voice. Like, I get that you might be a good girl and all but why do you need me to babysit you?

She just silently sits there like a sitting duck waiting for something.

*sigh*

"Fine, you can live with me... It's also a very good chance to observe you." I said the last sentence in a silent voice.

"Thank you"

...

Awkward silence emerges as we stared at each other. I couldn't make any advances in the conversation and neither is she. Now that I think about it...

"What was your name again?" I just now realised that we still didn't know each other's names. It's also a great subject to dodge the awkward atmosphere.

"Hela. It's hela lazuli, yours?"

John noir, just call me John or something," I said as I waves my hand to let her know that I really don't care about it.

She just nodded as she went back to watching the city.

The silence also re-emerges as I have now realised that I have not solved the awkwardness after all.
