Hey, you're looking good... Stop biting me! I put some food down for you! You're a bad boy! Hey!
That day Masaru was feeding the demon ants and was attacked by them. The ants can be fed with any kind of meat, and the ants are fed by collecting and killing demons and other creatures. Half of the garbage that was originally intended to be food for the slime had become food for the ants. Ants are not very intelligent insects, so there are a few ants that will attack Masaru instead of the safe food given to them. Why are we feeding the ants? Because they are food for the worm.
Worms are one of the most beneficial insects among demons, they don't attack people, they live on insects that are harmful to humans, and their materials are rare, useful, and tasty (apparently). What's more, the worm's habitat is very nutrient-rich due to its feces, and plants grow well there.
In other words, Masaru is trying to create a cycle in which he feeds ants, increases the number of ants, feeds the worms, uses the soil produced to farm and grow plants, feeds them to livestock and demons, and then feeds the ants again when the number increases.
In the process, excess meat from demons and livestock that people enjoy, material for ant shells, material and meat for worms, and crops that have been grown will be left in the city... but it was difficult to keep this up permanently. After all, the demon ants are strong and numerous, making them dangerous, and even if the worms produce rich soil, ordinary people can't replace the soil and transporting it is very hard work. So it's a cheat hunting and farming method only for Masaru.
I'm not sure what to make of it, but I'm sure it's a good idea. I can't believe it.
This kind of complaint comes up every time, and everyone in town tells me it's okay to stop, but Masaru has been playing with ants and worms for six months, three days out of a ten-day cycle.
Why is that? To make money, of course. The best parts of ant armor can be made into light armor at a price that hunters and young adventurers can't afford, and worm material is even more precious and expensive. What's more... these ants are the perfect dupes for Masaru to gain experience, as they keep piling up in the same place no matter how many times he hunts them. The higher your level in this world, the harder it is to die, and the higher your margin of safety...in other words, you're just desperate to survive.
I can't wait to take a bath!
I can't wait to take a bath!" Masaru's torment continues as he cries this out.
