Xu Ziyao looked steadily at Sheng An’ning. Her eyes were clear and one could not guess her current emotions.
“Why, do you think that Haoxuan isn’t good enough for you?”
When the light female voice entered the ears, it was heavy, pressing on Sheng An’ning till she could not breathe.
Sheng An’ning’s heart tightened. The hands she hid under the blanket trembled. If Xu Ziyao insisted that she married Jiang Haoxuan, then did it mean it was impossible for her and Jiang Xuecheng to be together?
Sheng An’ning knew very well that Jiang Xuecheng was a clean freak and would not use things that others had used. It would be the same when it came to a life partner.
At this thought, Sheng An’ning felt that her heart was seized by a big hand. She tried very hard to suppress the fear in her. Her smile was slightly bitter.
“No Aunty, how could I have this thought? Haoxuan is a good man and treats me well but I do not have feelings for him…”
Xu Ziyao’s eyes were calm and there was coldness on her face. “Love can be cultivated.
Because no one talked at that moment, a dull atmosphere spread in the empty ward.
After two minutes, Sheng An’ning smiled bitterly. “But…”
How could love be cultivated so easily?
If love could be cultivated, how could she not walk into Jiang Xuecheng’s heart and why did Jiang Haoxuan fail to win her heart?
Sheng An’ning’s brain worked fast and suddenly, she remembered something important.
“Aunty, Brother Xuecheng’s and Sis-in-Law’s wedding hasn’t been held yet, has it?”
The Jiang family was such a prestigious family. How could the registration of marriage alone be considered an official marriage?
If there wasn’t a dazzling wedding ceremony, Su Wan would not be recognized as Jiang Xuecheng’s wife in the upper social circle…
“Why do you ask about this all of a sudden?”
Xu Ziyao paused and held Sheng An’ning’s hand/ “Xuecheng’s and Wan’s wedding will be held in October. They’ve registered their marriage, there’s no rush.”
As she spoke, she looked steadily at Sheng An’ning. “Your marriage with Haoxuan is what I care about most now.”
Upon hearing this, Sheng An’ning looked down. At an angle Xu Ziyao couldn’t see, there was a trace of cruelty in her eyes.
Huh, October!
Luckily it was in October. It turned out that she still had lots of time!
It looked like she did not need to hurry. From June to October, as long as she gave it a thought, a turning point might be possible…
After brewing the thoughts in her mind, Sheng An’ning covered up the hostility in her eyes. She raised her head slowly to look into Xu Ziyao’s eyes.
“Aunty, could you give me some time to think about it? I’ll promise you after Brother Xuecheng and Sis-in-Law’s wedding ceremony. In the meantime, I’ll try to cultivate feelings for Haoxuan.”
“It’s better this way. According to seniority, you and Haoxuan should come after Xuecheng.”
As she spoke, she darted a glance at Sheng An’ning. She held her hand and said, “An’ning, I’m telling you all this because I hope you won’t think about what you’ve missed. You must remember to cherish the present. You’re an obedient child and should understand my pain.”
Hearing the implicit words, Sheng An’ning gritted her teeth. She had not expected Xu Ziyao to stand on Su Wan’s side. Why else would she say such words to her?
However, Sheng An’ning had it all wrong. The reason Xu Ziyao talked to her today was all for Jiang Xuecheng’s sake.

Because Jiang Xuecheng liked Su Wan, Xu Ziyao chose to love the person he loved. That was all.
Sheng An’ning suppressed her agitated emotions. She curved her lips and a smile appeared on her face.
“Aunty, don’t worry, I understand.”
Xu Ziyao saw Sheng An’ning’s impetuous look and knew she might not have taken in what she had said.
Xu Ziyao sighed in her heart and suddenly, the sound of door opening made her turn to look. Jiang Haoxuan had walked in with cherries which he had just bought.
“An’ning, what did you and Mother talk about just now?”
Sheng An’ning smiled and with a bashful look, said, “Aunty and I were talking about you.”
When Jiang Haoxuan saw Sheng An’ning blushing, he was stupefied. Then, a little joy sprang up in his heart. Had his mother been matchmaking for him?
Jiang Haoxuan took out a cherry nervously and with a flattering smile, asked, “Mother, you did not speak ill of me in front of An’ning, did you?”
Xu Ziyao stood up and darted Jiang Haoxuan a look, “Am I such a person? The cherries I’ve asked you to buy are for An’ning. Alright, I’ll make a move first. You take good care of An’ning.”
When Jiang Haoxuan got to know that he could be alone with Sheng An’ning, the happiness on his face could not be concealed. He nodded hard and his eyes were smiling.
“Mother, be careful on the way home.”
Xu Ziyao smiled faintly and then walked out of the ward. Immediately, only Jiang Haoxuan and Sheng An’ning were left in the huge ward.
Jiang Haoxuan took a stool and sat beside Sheng An’ning. He passed the cherry in his hand gently to Sheng An’ning. “An’ning, don’t you like to eat cherries?”
Sheng An’ning absent-mindedly took the cherry and sent it slowly into her mouth. The minute Xu Ziyao left, her thoughts had flown beyond the clouds.
Sheng An’ning clenched her fist under the blanket. She still had time. She had to put in effort in time because in October, Jiang Xuecheng would have his wedding ceremony and her marriage with Jiang Haoxuan would be put on the agenda too.
No matter what, as long as there was still hope, she would not give up.
It looked like she should find a time to contact her ally, the man named Gu Zihang. Didn’t he still love Su Wan?

The next day was Monday again.
Towards the end of working hours, Su Wan walked into Jiang Xuecheng’s office as usual and was about to ask him to go home with her.
Unexpectedly, she saw Jiang Xuecheng talking over the phone the instant she opened the door. He looked extremely cold and indifferent.
“Congratulations, Sheng An’ning, you’ve been discharged. Wan Wan wouldn’t be willing to see you. If you genuinely wish to apologize, you don’t have to call me.”
As he spoke, he ended the call.
Su Wan pursed her lips and asked, “Ms. Sheng called?”
Jiang Xuecheng nodded faintly. He walked toward Su Wan with a sudden guilt in his eyes, “I’m sorry, Wan Wan…”
Upon hearing this, Su Wan put her finger on his lips.
She looked steadily at the man in front of her and with a smile like spring breeze, she said, “I don’t like you to say sorry too.”
Su Wan knew Jiang Xuecheng treated her well and understood his family background. Hence, she would not find fault with him for no reason.
Jiang Xuecheng was taken aback and then smiled with his head down. Just when he wanted to say something, Su Wan’s phone rang.
Su Wan took out her phone and saw a message. “Wan, I’m going to Dong Chen Country. Goodbye.”
Lin Fei’er was leaving so hastily!
