The sky darkened slowly in summer. Although it was six in the evening, the red sunset could still be seen in the sky. When the night breeze blew, the fragrance of flowers filled the air.
Su Wan pointed at the door not far away and asked Uncle Fu, “Are Grandfather and Grandmother home?”
“Yes, they’re both home”
Worry appeared on Uncle Fu’s aged face. “Young Missy, Senior Master has not been in a good mood lately. Is there a reason you’re looking for him?”
“Don’t worry, Uncle Fu. I’m here to pass him the wedding invitation. I’m not here to provoke Grandfather.”
As Su Wan spoke, there was a certain firmness in her eyes. Then, she held Jiang Xuecheng’s hand and walked straight into the house.
When Su Wan and Jiang Xuecheng walked past the entrance, she saw her grandmother, Zhao Ruolan, holding a thick photo album. She moved her reading glasses a little and was carefully turning the pages of the photo album.
When Su Wan saw her skinny and old grandmother, she felt a sensation on her nose. She immediately walked toward her.
“Grandmother.”
Zhao Ruolan was slightly deaf. So, Su Wan greeted her in a slightly louder voice but she dared not call out too loudly because she was afraid that she would disturb her grandmother’s thoughts.
Zhao Roulan did not hear Su Wan clearly. She could vaguely feel someone talking around her. She shuddered as she raised her head and very quickly, Su Wan was reflected in her eyes.
“Wan, why are you back?”
Her voice brought about an unconcealed pleasant surprise.
When Zhao Ruolan saw Su Wan, she was so excited she almost cried. She wanted to stand up immediately and touch Su Wan’s face.
Ever since the day Su Jiankai and his daughter went to jail, there was less vitality although the furnishings in this huge house was still luxurious.
Su Wan had not expected her grandmother to treat her so nicely. She choked and quickly stretched out her hand to hold Zhao Ruolan’s hands.
“Yes, Grandmother, I’m back.”
Zhao Ruolan was not in good health so Su Wan supported her to sit down on the sofa.
A relieved smile appeared on Zhao Ruolan’s wrinkled face. She couldn’t help nodding and her eyes were narrowed into a slit as she smiled.
“It’s good that you’re back.”
“Grandmother, this is my husband, Jiang Xuecheng.”
Jiang Xuecheng who had been standing near the entrance walked forward quickly and nodded politely at Zhao Ruolan. “Hello, Grandmother.”
“Hello.”
Zhao Ruolan supported her reading glasses and examined Jiang Xuecheng from head to toe. Then, she started babbling, “This young man is quite good looking. You’re the eldest son in the Jiang family, aren’t you? You’re indeed a young talent.”
Upon hearing this, Su Wan couldn’t help laughing.
Zhao Ruolan’s eyes swept across the flower tea on the tea table which had cooled down. Suddenly, she remembered something. She held the cup up and asked, “Would both of you like to have some tea?”
When Su Wan saw Zhao Ruolan’s dry hands, her eyes were dim and dull. She quickly took the cup from her grandmother and put it down on the tea table.
“Grandmother, let me make tea. You may talk to Xuecheng.”
Su Wan shook off the bad associations in her mind and smiled at Zhao Ruolan. Then, she went to take three cups of hot water at the water dispenser before putting in Jasmine tea.
Although Zhao Ruolan was old, her mind was still alert. She soon asked Jiang Xuecheng lots of questions.

Jiang Xuecheng gave simple answers to all her questions and did not disappoint the old lady.
Su Wan looked at Zhao Ruolan who was chatting with Jiang Xuecheng from far and mixed feelings spread in the bottom of her heart.
Everyone, no matter who, couldn’t escape aging. She had not returned to Jing Yuan for quite some time and she felt that her grandmother was more haggard than before. She was like a flickering candle in the wind that would go out when the oil ran out.
The vapour from the tea curled up and the heat entered Su Wan’s eyes, making her feel like crying.
Su Wan pursed her lips and a dim light flashed through her clear eyes.
She put the tea plate down and started to serve Zhao Ruolan and Jiang Xuecheng some jasmine tea. “Grandmother, how are you and Grandfather?”
“We’re still the same. We’re old now and no matter how good medicine is, we won’t be as energetic as young people like you.”
Although Zhao Ruolan was joking, Su Wan felt upset when she heard this. She shook her head, “Grandmother, you’re still young. Living up to a hundred years old shouldn’t be a problem for you.”
Just when they were chatting, a strong voice came from the back.
“Who allowed you to come in?”
Following that question, Su Wan heard sounds of powerful footsteps from the staircase.
Su Wan’s heart missed a beat uncontrollably. She was taken aback and looked toward the staircase.
The one who had spoken was undoubtedly Su Heng.
Su Heng was seen walking down the stairs and rushing toward Su Wan. Although he was nearly eighty years old, he still had an indescribably majestic aura.
His pair of hale and hearty eyes were especially fierce, as if they could pierce through one’s heart.
Zhao Ruolan stood up shakily and was not happy with Su Heng’s remarks.
“Old man, how can you talk like this? This is Wan’s house. If she wishes to come here, does she need to seek for permission?”
When Su Wan saw Zhao Ruolan defending her, she was touched but at the same time felt bitter.
“Woman, what do you know?”
Su Heng walked over angrily. In his sharp eyes was strong hostility.
“She’s young but she has forced her own uncle and cousin sister to a dead end. Now, she has the Jiang family and she could lead a carefree life, but what about Jiankai and Yurou? They are still in prison!”
“Grandfather, I…”
Although Su Wan knew Su Heng was not happy with her, her heart still ached when reprimanded openly in front of others.
Just when Su Wan wanted to explain, Su Heng’s eyes swept across her in disdain with a face full of anger.
“You dare to even attack your own relatives, are you trying to piss me off? Your mind is so vicious, do you wish to see the Su family die without descendants?”
Before his voice died down, Su Heng trembled uncontrollably. He stared at Su Wan fiercely and without thinking, he grabbed a cup from the table and threw it at Su Wan!
Su Wan had not expected Su Heng to be so angry when he saw her. Feeling the whizzing air, she wanted to back off but it was too late.
Seeing the cup about to hit her, Su Wan blinked her eyes in shock.
However, in the blink of an eye, Jiang Xuecheng pushed her from behind and caught the cup.
There was no thumping sound of broken porcelain cup as imagined.
Su Wan’s eyes widened. When she saw Jiang Xuecheng catching the cup, her heart tightened.
She had just taken three cups of hot water!
Silly Jiang Xuecheng, why did he catch with his hand?
