Chapter 19: Assassin

A boy with a mask with a crown symbol walked in a forest in the deep of the night. He was looking for something as he looked around trying to locate something.

 

“These guys need to draw better maps. I should research about the map making class or skill. Do you smell anything little one" he said as he talked to the pet monster that was taking a piggy back ride in his backpack. He had a storage ring but since he couldn’t put a living being in it, he had to improvise with the doggy backpack.

 

The little fella had his head poking out as he seemed to enjoy the scenes. He barked and Kevin turned to look in a direction where he saw a cave entrance. Of recent he had been able to understand what Onyx was saying trying to say. He could only understand basic stuff; it was like he was a caveman with three simple words like “food" and “bad" and “good".

 

As Kevin activated is whisper skills and just merged with the night, he entered the cave and immediately discovered a rope trap. He glided over it. It was dead dark but the whisper class had night vision. It was not perfect though, it was like he had a flash light so it was not like seeing in daylight. As his level grew, the skills would also become better.

 

He walked as he skipped one trap after another. The person who set them up was very stupid. The ropes were big so as long as you had a light, you could avoid them all. Kevin was optimistic about this . If there was a class for avoiding traps he could probably get it. Speaking of skills,, He had the map skill active since he didn’t want to get lost in the tunnels .

Drip

The caves where very confusing and he got lost multiple times. His map was being detailed so he didn’t go through the same place multiple times.

Are those monster voices he wondered as he activated his cloak. The monster pet in his backpack was also covered by the clock now so they were both undetectable. At the very least that is what they thought. All over a sudden it was like an alarm was set off. Roars , Growling and screeching (.it was like an animal planet strike riot.

 

Kevin stopped for a moment but that didn’t stop the thunder so he moved very fast and found that he was in a giant cave. Lined with cages of every size. Humans and monster beasts were lined up everywhere. On chains or in very small cages compared to there sizes. This was a trafficking horde and from the mood on the human faces. It was not a huge animal-human Christmas party.

 

The monster here were all shapes and sizes even more than the Raider merchant company monster tamers section. This was hundreds of thousands of gold worth of monsters and that was a lot since he bought his pet Onyx at 1 gold and 28 silvers because he was assumed to be a normal common rank beast that was sickly but Gus' A rank monsters Arty was a recognized as an epic class monster pet and he was worth 121 gold pieces. Monsters where very expensive so when he saw all these monsters caged up. Numbers started running in his head and he evaluated at least half a million of gold coins for the pets alone. The human slaves on the other hand were mainly children with a few teenagers. They were about 234 of them. Kid slaves in this world were in between a few bronze coins to at most 100gold if they had a special class or Bloodline.

 

This was a very big stock for a trader in this world and it would be a big loot for his organization after the extermination of the current owners but that greedy thought was not what was going through his head. How can you treat fellow humans like this?
There was a gore cage of people that were rotting in their own excrements. These people looked like moving skeleton. They had half opened eyes and were barely clothed. The animals sudden silence made him snap out of his rage thoughts. He hid near a stack of weapons.

 

A big bold man with a snake tattoo on his left eye walked it with his sword drawn.

 

“aye, what’s with the racket. Who is there" . He yelled as he moved and scanned the room. He moved over to one of the slaves and grabbed them by the neck.

 

Ahh ….the poor guy letting out a cry of pain.

“What made them shout like that?” he asked.

“I….I don’t know. They just went wild. Maybe they sensed an earthquake or disaster.” Said the slave in a scared shaking voice.

 

“Am trying to sleep and your out here making that difficult.” The man said as he slapped the thin boy on the ground.

Cough bleh cough.

The slave seems to cough and vomit out his stomach juices from being slammed in the floor. As the man approached and started kicking him in the belly. A shocking sound was heard then a silence washed over the area. The slave looked up and saw the man gasping for air as he held his neck that was dyed red. The man dropped to his knees and his gasping sounds stopped.

 

Doom Clank clank

 

The sound of the man’s big build and his sword falling echoed in the cave tunnels. The monsters all went wild again. The slave finally saw the short kid sized person with a white mask that had a shadow mist steaming all over him. He immediately crawled away in fear.

 

The masked shadow put a finger on the area where his mouth should be. Ordering him to keep quiet. The masked person just disappeared into thin area. The slave turned and looked for this person but nothing. It was like he was not there to begin with. This freaked him out the more so he run back to his cage and sat shivering as he knew he just saw a reaper.

 

Meanwhile footsteps of about 4 people seemed to be coming over. “Dolce, what in the world are you doing you bastard. “ yelled one.

 

The masked guy was now near the entrance to the cave. He stood still with a dagger in his hands. The four people ended. When they saw the body of Dolce. They pulled out their weapons and rushed towards him. They looked serious and were on high alert since they knew there was an Assassin or more in the room. One of them ran to get back up and report the situation but was met with a dagger in his forehead. When the other three noticed he had stopped moving. They also turned immediately only to see their partner turn to them with a shiny dagger sticking out of his head like a horn.

 

He fell down like a log and these guys didn’t even say a word. This guy had been stabbed next to them but they didn’t hear anything and couldn’t see any movement. Not a hair of the assailant could be seen. They were shaking in pure genetic fear of the unknown.

 

“W-who is ..I. it?” yelled one of them.

 

“Yah….come out and fight!...” said another.

 

“fight us like a ma…” the third man’s words were cut short by a spear stab coming for his face. He reacted in time to dodge the spear. The spear continued and stabbed the cave wall a few meters away.

 

“damn it, it’s an Assassin . Stick together.”

 

The three men stood in a triangle formation immediately.

Suddenly they heard a voice “ its no uses. Your already dead.”

The three men felt their hearts quiver from the cold voice that sounded like it only told the truth. Then boom like thunder 3 arrows came from a cage in the corner of the cave.

 

The man facing them managed to defend against one but the other two hit their targets. The man was shocked. He felt like he was dead from the window coming from the arrows that had just passed by his ears. If he had dodged to the side instead of defending with his sword he would have died just like the other two. One had an arrow going through his ear like a cartoon while the other had one stilling out of his forehead.

 

“ it seems you have a very good grasp of a C rank sword art. Are you one of the generals of the demonic viper sect.” Said a masked boy as he drew his sword.

 

The man looked at this kid with terror in his eyes. All this damage was being done by a kid. He steeled himself. He had heard of slaves raised to be assassins since birth as disposable tools for nobles but he thought that was just a myth or reincarnated demons. Now one was standing in front of him. He felt ashamed that a kid had made his soul shiver in his body so he screamed “am going to send you to back to hell you demon"
