In Lou Bei’s opinion, it would be too ironic if she had to rely on deception to get into a relationship.

Of course, she didn’t need to be honest about everything, but it wasn’t good to deceive a person who was ready to spend the rest of their life with her—especially when it comes to a child.

However, she had already said everything that needed to be said. If Chen Lan chose to disregard it, there was nothing more that she could do. After all, this was someone else’s business.

Fang Jingzhou was quite happy to be left at the Luo Family’s home for the New Year’s.

He didn’t want to spend the New Year’s alone in a rented apartment nor did he want to be sent back to his Mother’s hometown.

Chen Lan seemed to be in a good mood. She was only going to her boyfriend’s house for a week, but she was very generous and gave Luo Bei two thousand yuan as repayment for taking care of Fang Jingzhou. It didn’t take much to feed Fang Jingzhou, so Luo Bei took him to the mall and bought him new clothes with the remaining money.

Actually, Fang Jingzhou had been frequently eating with the Luo Family for a while now. Chen Lan was so busy with dating that she didn’t even order take-outs anymore. She ate outside with her boyfriend almost every day and rarely came back home. Luo Bei couldn’t stand by and watch so she brought Fang Jingzhou over to eat and sleep at her house. After getting a balanced three meals a day, Fang Jingzhou has gained weight and looked much better than before.

“Beibei, I want ice cream.” Fang Jingzhou stared blankly at the McDonald’s dessert station.

Luo Bei couldn’t help but rub his hair. “Call me Big Sister. Who told you to call me Beibei?”

Fang Jingzhou didn’t want to oblige. He stubbornly called, “Beibei, Beibei!”

“Forget it, I can’t argue with you.” Luo Bei led him to the dessert station and bought two original flavored cones. No matter how many desserts there were in the Golden Arch, she still loved the original flavored cones the most.

One big and small figure walked down the street eating ice cream cones with a satisfied expression.

Luo Bei looked at Fang Jingzhou and thought she wouldn’t make a good mother in the future.

If her child wanted to play, she would surely join in and if her darling baby wanted to eat spicy strips, she was likely to hide in the corner with her child to share the delicious snack…Luo Bei sighed and lit a candle for her future husband who would have no end of things to worry about.

Fang Jingzhou was very close with Luo Bei.

He was eager for his mother to throw him into the Luo family.

The child was very sensitive. He couldn’t feel warmth in his mother’s home, but he could feel it in the Luo family.

The Luo Family had the liveliest New Year that they’ve had in a long time.

It used to be only Grandma Luo and Luo Bei, and although Uncle Cheng would drop in in the afternoon, he couldn’t stay for long since he had his own family with a wife and children.

Jiang Sihan didn’t come empty-handed when he came over to eat the New Year’s meal. He went to the seafood market early in the morning and used the advanced salary he’d gotten from his company to buy crabs and fruits. Zhao Pianpian, on the other hand, took Grandma Luo to the mall when it wasn’t too crowded and bought her a new set of clothes. As for Fang Jingshou, the two thousand given by his mother was enough to pay for him.

Luo Bei made her specialty, fried chicken wings this year. She wasn’t humble in the slightest and patted her chest while boasting, “The Fried Chicken Wings and Roasted Chicken Wings that I made are definitely even better than KFC’s. I still want to eat them!”

As she was frying the chicken wings, Jiang Sihan came to the kitchen. When he saw the boiling oil in the pot, his heart ached a little. “This used almost half a bottle of oil. It’s too wasteful, it’s better to order wings from KFC.”

If she didn’t know any better, Luo Bei would hardly believe that Jiang Sihan would be a rich Film Emperor in the future given how frugal he was.

Perhaps it was because he had lived difficult and impoverished life, but even if he wasn’t short of money, he was still very frugal.

After eating, they watched a movie and Luo Bei didn’t object when everyone insisted on chipping in for it since that’s what the majority of people did nowadays and she could also understand when they packed up the leftover food. After all, the money they earned wasn’t blown into their lap by the wind so naturally, nobody wanted to waste food.

Whenever Jiang Sihan bought a roll of tissues, he would cut it in half with a fruit knife. This was something that Luo Bei had discovered by accident. She had gone to his apartment to look for him that day and had a runny nose because of her cold, so she used his tissue…Frankly speaking, in that instant, Lou Bei was a little disillusioned.

He would also buy bruised fruits at the supermarket for a low price and cut off the bad part before eating them. Even when Luo Bei told him that eating bruised fruits wasn’t food for his health, he still did it.

In the future, Jiang Sihan would be a popular young actor. He would be a great god with tens of millions of fans on Weibo. He would be very rich and popular. Later on, he would even invest in movies as a producer and start a company. Luo Bei couldn’t help but wonder if he would still be so frugal when he got rich.

But he was only frugal with himself and wasn’t stingy with others. For example, when he bought fruits for Grandma Luo and Bei Luo to eat, he would go to the fruit stores and pick out fresh fruits.

Even Zhao Pianpian praised his ability to scrimp and save.

There’s no point in saying that now, I already tried it.”Luo Bei calmly put chicken wings wrapped in bread crumbs into the pot.

Jiang Sihan’s heart still ached, but he didn’t say anything else. Instead, he said, “I’m going to the set on the 4th. Brother Liu said that I’ll be there for a month or two, I wonder if there will be any breaks in between.”

Luo Bei replied, “That’s pretty good. You only earn money when you work for it.”

“That’s what I think too. I won’t be back for a month or two, but please keep my apartment for me. I’ll rent it as usual.”

“You can move to a much better neighborhood after you get paid for the drama. Why bother to continue living in this slum? You might even become a celebrity after the drama is broadcast. What sort of celebrity lives in a basement for 500 yuan a month?”

Jiang Sihan, on the other hand, had his own thoughts.

“That, you’re wrong. After we finish filming this drama, what about the next one? It is better to economize what I can. Let’s say after this drama, there’s going to be another one and I’ll be on set for most of the time. If the house is left empty, that’s the money going to waste. The basement is only 500 yuan a month when 1 bedroom apartments are several thousand yuan a month. Obviously, 500 yuan a month is the better deal. Besides, I’m not picky about where I live as long as there’s a place to sleep.”

Luo Bei: “…”

Most people would choose a better place to live once their financial situation got better, but Jiang Sihan didn’t seem to think so. Out of clothing, food, housing, and transportation, he thought of housing to be the least important. Naturally, if he could spend less on it, he would do exactly that.

Jiang Sihan is becoming more and more different than when she first met him. She used to feel that he was cold and alienated and was rather difficult to approach. But now, whenever he opened his mouth, Luo Bei would feel concerned for his future fans.

After all, in the novel, Jiang Sihan gave off the impression of a cold male god…

On the evening of the third day, Jiang Sihan set off for the set. He gave Luo Bei his keys and asked her to help him to look after his apartment when she was free. Luo Bei agreed and told him to go conquer the stardom.

Luo Bei went back to work on the seventh day of the lunar calendar. Most of her colleagues at the company including her boss weren’t in a good state and they spent the day in a daze.

Although the national holiday was over, many workers still hadn’t returned from visiting their hometowns. The streets weren’t as lively as before and most of the shops on the street were closed.

It was also very quiet in the neighborhood. Many tenants and even some of the landlords had gone back to their hometown for the New Year’s. Although the ambiance of the holiday was slowly fading, it was still the holiday that Chinese people attach the most importance to.

Before Lou Bei could enter the building her family-owned, she saw a tall man with a snakeskin bag in his hand.

She took the key from her bag and asked,” Sir, who are you looking for?”

She finally got a clear view of the man’s face.

His appearance and temperament didn’t match his outfit at all.

His eyes were deep and upright and his temperament was elegant and noble. He didn’t seem like an ordinary person at all. If she had to make a comparison, Jiang Sihan was the male senior that girls would secretly admire while this man was an unapproachable and noble young master.

However, he was wearing a set of fake sportswear, and the pair of sports shoes on his feet was also a knock-off product. He held a snake-skin bag in his hand, and by his feet, there was a plastic bucket and a basin holding a toothbrush and a cup. It looked too incongruous.

“I’m here to rent an apartment.” The man said,

“But I haven’t bought a cell phone yet and have no way to contact the landlord. I can’t enter the door. Would you happen to know who the landlord is?”

There were still young people without cell phones these days? It must have been stolen.

Luo Bei perked up. Every time New Year’s rolled around, there would be a couple of tenants who returned to their hometown for good. Right now, there were several empty rooms.

“Hello, I’m the landlord. Please come this way. What kind of room do you want to rent?” Luo Bei enthusiastically opened the door and led him into the apartments available for rent.

The man’s next sentence was even more incompatible with his appearance and temperament.

“I want to rent the cheapest room.”
