Chapter 16: First Gear

Tobi frosted his body over, as onlookers poured in taking pictures and asked him questions.

He jumped back towards the water, freezing a path up.

Then used it as a launchpad and flew off.

Keep away from the public as much as possible.

Sarah had drilled that into them, before the mission.

"Sarah, what's the update?"

He asked his comm, as he flew back into the city.

Sarah responded back, in a not too thrilling voice

"Tobi you've got to hurry... Osei is not doing too well, against the both of them."

Tobi took a deep breath.

"Tell him to hold on, I'm on my way. Send me the coordinates."

He looked at his arm and the armour split in tiny pieces of nanotech revealing a screen.

The screen updated, with coordinates on a map of the city.

Tobi zoomed towards the new direction.

Main battle site...

Tobi arrived at a clearing, descending on three figures below.

He had avoided looking at the screen in the sky, fearing the worst.

Regardless, what he witnessed before him, was his brother on his knees, bloodied and bruised.

He had serious cuts, showing through his armour and burn marks.

Kalista was slightly injured, standing behind Zaryon, who had one sword drawn pointing it at Osei.

Tobi's mind went blank.

He recalled a memory.

He was training with Osei and Osei had used a dirty tactic.

While they took a break he spoke up, still bothered by it.

"You know Osei means honourable, in Ghanaian."

Osei chuckled.

"That's interesting... it also means honourable warrior in Rennayan and you can't be a warrior if you die."

Zaryon's voice snapped him back.

"Well, we've been waiting for you. Your bitch of an android has ruined my entire show!"

Tobi growled.

"Let him go."

The ground broke up all around him, static electricity crackled streaking through the air.

Snow fell in their area, as lightning struck over and over in the sky  and around them.

It was cold, but it seemed as though Tobi was standing in the middle of a heatwave.

A mixture of orange and blue veins snaked their way all over Tobi's body, pulsing like neons.

Kalista noticed the change happening on his body and whispered under her breath.

"He is ascending."

Zaryon completely ignored Tobi's request and the situation around him.

He looked back down at Osei, who was barely conscious.

"Furthermore, this traitor, did not bother reporting back that there was a Rennayan out here. One that can use more than one ability too..."

He paused and looked back at Tobi.

Only the thunder broke the tence silence.

The world continued to watch the broadcast.

Osei was disoriented, falling in and out of consciousness, but he was aware of what was happening.

"Or that my brother was dead. For that he must die."

Zaryon raised his sword.

Flames covered it, blazing bright.

Then he swung at Osei's neck.

In that split second Tobi had drew his sword and stepped hard.

Leaping towards them and destroying the ground, he stepped on.

Cloud rings trailed him.

He swung with his full might, covering his blade in hot flames and electricity.

The strike aimed for Zaryon's sword, but sent both him and Kalista flying.

Erasing the landscape, with a sea of flames and electric currents.

He dropped down hugging his brother.

Then proceeded to heal him little by little with his ice abilities.

Osei noticed his brother in front of him and his transformation. 

He gave him a faint smile.

"What's with that look bro. It seems like, you've ascended too... What did you want to call it... 'First Gear?' After your favourite MC?"

He struggled to laugh.

Tobi just wanted his brother to rest, he quickly glanced at his hands and realized what his brother had meant.

"Now you can be just like him... you need to save us. You need to win. That girl, Kalista. She's not bad, but kill her if you have to."

By then two androids in blue and white, BSF medic outfits, dropped down out of the sky and landed nearby, with the jet thrusters through their soles, cushioning their landing.

They ran over to the brothers.

Noise cackled in Tobi's ear and Sarah spoke up.

"Leave Osei to the medics, we'll save him. Focus on the enemies at hand."

He asked Sarah, before letting them take Osei away.

"Can you leave one unit on standby, Sarah."

Tobi stood up seeing Kalista, race back to him on a floating rock.

She summoned over 30 golems, as she got closer.

Tobi responded by summoning the same amount, but a bit more.

Both of their golems, charged at each other, breaking each other apart.

Tobi then shaped his hand in into a pistol

Pointing the finger at her in the air.

"Static: Desert Eagle."

Bullet shaped flames, charged with thousands of volts of electricity, seemingly shot out of his fingers.

The first bullet grazed her right arm, the rest missed as she dodged them in midair.

"So you are what the royal family, has been hiding out here!"

Kalista yelled out, holding her arm.

Tobi stopped firing and responded back.

"If you're a Rennayan, why are you fighting for the enemy?"

Kalista smirked.

"It's not like I have a choice... See this?"

She pointed at her bracelet.

"It explodes, if I ever try to leave. Your family failed us and all the children of Rennaya!"

She was angry.

A gigantic golem, twenty ft tall, rapidly grew out of the ground.

Metal flung towards it, covering it like an armour.

She snarled at him.

"King Zenu, should have brought all the civilians and children here, maybe we could have had a fighting chance. What can you do alone?"

The golem charged at him.

Tobi looked at the charging golem, it was crushing, all the other golems beneath it, making its way towards him.

He raised his hand pointing his palm towards the giant.

A fireball formed in front of it and shot at the giants head, wiping it clean off with an explosion.

Tobi followed up by leaping onto the falling giants statue.

Using where it's head used to be as a launchpad, he launched himself at Kalista.

Destroying the giant under his feet.

Kalista was taken back by, her golem being defeated.

She backed up forming a floating rock wall between herself and him as he closed the distance.

He touches the wall and from where he touched, a ball of ice appeared all around her.

"Static: Shock Dome".

Thousands of volts tased her inside the ball, knocking her out.

He descended with the ball, melting it to reveal her unconscious.

"Sarah."

He said softly, still looking at Kalista.

A medic android came quickly to pick her up, put her in chains and flew her to a nearby shuttle.

Tobi turned around.

Zaryon was there, furious.

Part of his face and body was still reforming.
