‘You need to calm down’. My breathing was quickened, and the pain in my back wasn’t helping my rage. I felt calm wash over me several times before I gained control back over my body. I was still on my hands and knees, and the pain in my back had stopped, but I felt a new sensation coming from my back. Looking behind me, I noticed the new protrusions. They were black wings.

I stood up, but I didn’t look around for too long. I still felt anger even after the calming effect. I didn’t do much to quell my rage. I flapped my new wings as hard as I could. Immediately the ceiling above me was broken apart. As I took to the skys, I started to spread my shadow as fast as I could. I felt a spike in someone's magical signature a kilometer away from the city. I looked over, and with enhanced eyesight, I could see lightning coming from their mouth as well as their sword. Next to him was someone with a shield and sword.

“You must be my opponents!” I could tell they were looking at me ready for a fight. I also felt people running away from them. I could feel Emma’s magical signature among them. They must have kidnapped her to get me out. “I will not let any of you escape. You will know hell!” I decided I would try and fly straight towards Emma first. The lightning katana user tried to intercept me by jumping in the air. In an instant he was right next to me. I’ll admit he was fast, but it wasn’t enough. Time slowed down as I pulled out my sword staff. When the blade of my sword staff met his katana he smiled at me. With as much force as I could muster I sent him hurling back towards the ground.

He was sent flying, and when he landed on the ground there was a large crater from the impact. I was surprised his bones hadn’t shattered, and if it wasn’t for my sense of urgency I would probably take my time with this fight. Instead in the next instant Ilya began to attack him from the ground. I had heard the sound barrier break behind me, so she must have launched herself from the walls of the city. I looked behind me to see part of the city wall falling apart from where she presumably lept. I could see Rela running like a bullet from the entrance of the city as well. She quickly arrived at the guy's companion.

—-----------

My lightning clad sword whistled through the air as it collided with a ceremonial sword gripped by a clawed hand. I see, so she was a beast too. The filth that was in front of me had clawed hands like that of a dragon. Every hit she sent towards my sword was heavy. Her face was full of rage. Mine was full of happiness. This woman was excellent. If I let my guard down for a second I knew I would die. She scowled at me.

“You human trash! Learn your place!” I sped up my attacks as she spoke to me. Every time I attack my attacks get faster. This and the lightning clad sword is how I earned my nickname. Still, even when my attacks sped up she kept up like it was nothing. A sweep of the sword diagonally was blocked. Any way I swung my sword was blocked. I knew if this fight would come down to endurance there was no way I could win. I was already using a lot of my power. I could tell she was holding out on me. The next time our blades collided she sent me flying with her hardest strike yet. I flew backwards with more inertia than an arrow.

In an instant she was back in my face. Shit! I blocked her downward swing, but the force sent me flying downwards with enough energy to kill a drake. That single strike contained more power in it than Eliah’s swing earlier. As our blades collided my katana snapped in two as I plummeted towards the ground. I started to wonder if this was all my strength amounted to.

Hadn’t I already killed one of these filth? That beastkin hadn’t had near this amount of strength. I would not die here! I needed to face Eliah. I needed to face my nemesis. Lightning arced across my whole body as I hit the ground and coughed up blood. I could tell that some of my ribs were shattered, but I didn’t care. In a mad dash I sprinted at the beast before me. The instant before I arrived she let go of her sword.

In the next instant I felt a searing pain in my stomach. I looked down to see her entire arm lodged inside. I coughed more blood onto her face and tried to say something, but all that came out of my mouth was more and more blood. I didn’t want to die like this! Not without facing her. I should have followed the others. I started smiling at my stupid self.

“Why are you smiling, insect!?” I grabbed onto her arm with both of my hands. Because it was a brilliant fight I wanted to say. Instead, I will be taking her with me. The lightning around me started to whistle as it began to follow my last order. It glowed white hot before I blacked out…
