[Axcl POV]
I am kneeling before the King of Ender as I have just finished delivering the report of what had happened. “I see… so they are dead. You did well to make it back here alive. I will send an envoy to the king of Somber, but I am not sure what to expect. This has gotten bad. Maybe the allied countries should convene. I am sorry… I am rambling. Go get some food and rest at the inn for nobles. I will send a letter and it shall be covered by myself. I imagine you need it at this point in time, and I give my condolences for the comrades you lost.”
“Y-yes, your Majesty.” I left the castle escorted by some guards and boarded a carriage to the inn. I was glad that the prince hadn’t seen through my persona. I was holding back laughter as I was explaining the death of those fools. When I got to my room I couldn’t hold it in anymore, and I just started laughing. I almost broke down in tears from all of the laughter I had been holding in. “That prince is more of a fool than I thought he was.” I put away my things in the lavish bedside dresser, then I fell into the large comfortable mattress before sleep took me.
When I awoke I had a brief meeting with the king before boarding a carriage headed for Leo Kingdom. The next people I would inform would be the church. They were the ones I feared most. They could take my head for the report that I am going to give, and I am sure my lord wouldn’t even bat an eye at my death. I wouldn’t mind though. It has been an honor to serve her. The resurrection of the true lord has always been her greatest wish.
I still remember when I stumbled into her greatness. I was but a little brat, lost in the forest. I stumbled upon a cave that housed her. At first I was confused why there was a beastkin living alone in a cave; however, she showed me the truth of the world. The truth that I learned that day was world view shattering, and at the time I could barely handle it. I remember crying like a baby when I learned of the true sadness that my lord had to endure. Separated from the one she cared about, sealed away by someone she thought was her friend. My heart still aches when I think of everything she has to endure. The only thing I can do is be of use to her. That is my true purpose. Ever since she showed me the light, that has been the only reason for my being.
Reid joined us years later after he had a falling out with the country of Ender. I have only ever seen him with a burned face, but I think he used to actually be a handsome figure. He was known throughout many kingdoms as a sword saint as well. Now such an amazing person serves our lord. The group he brought with him are all his faithful followers, and they too pledge their loyalty to the lord.
The carriage bounces on the road as my thoughts continue. Joining the scholars guild had been an easy feat, and increasing my rank was also easy due to the guidance of my lord. She taught me how to use various weapons, but the weapon I was most skillful in was the bow. Even the first time I used it, I hit the target almost dead center. I was elated from the praise that my lord showered me with. Everytime she would compliment me I would strive even more to be better. She is such a caring person, but she does like to crack jokes. Her joyful personality and the pranks she plays on Reid’s servants makes her even more charming.
The carriage bumps again as I start to think about the church and their stupid ideology. The church has spread its roots through every human nation. They are like a parasite trying to strip what is beautiful in this world. They have rules against everything that my lord loves.
They banned shadow magic due to the strongest user in history being an immortal vampire. They say it is because of the potential usage of manipulation magic that is common in shadow; however, I think humans are just terrified of everything different. This is also the reason for the vampire hunts following the true lord's death.
Thousands of vampires have been pursued and slaughtered by paladins of the church. I think it is bulshit. Even if you believe in the gods, hadn’t the gods placed the vampires here in the first place? Was it not all of our world to share? I fail to see how the people don’t see that.
The religious zealots at the church will believe in everything the archbishop says. I just have to put on a smile and pretend to be a faithful believer in the gods. The ranks of the church will all be torn from this world soon anyway. The time will be upon us, it will be a new era where Eliah strips all of the ugliness from this world. Of that, I am certain.
The only person who could stop Eliah is long since dead. My lord tells me that there is no way that the true lord would have lost to a human paladin within the church. Even if that paladin reached the rank of a true hero. From what I saw of a little of the true lord’s power, I am inclined to agree.
The carriage passes through several cities as we make many stops and the days go by before we reach the edge of Ender.
The carriage finally arrives at the Kingdom of Wulnir’s border. It is the last kingdom before I get into Leo. The church runs extremely deep in the two kingdoms, and the leaders of the kingdoms are both members of the church. The pope is the ruler of Leo kingdom, and a bishop rules Wulnir. I hate this kingdom as much as I hate Leo, but I must put on my act. I must adopt my persona. I will not disappoint, my lord.
