Lin Chaosheng looked up, “When are you returning it?”
Lu Chenfeng: “……”
Lin Chaosheng’s lips curved up as he passed the ID and free items to him with both hands, “I’m kidding.” He pointed at the resting area and said, “Take a seat, give me a moment, I’ll brew a cup for you.”
Lu Chenfeng found a quiet corner and sat down. He relaxed his body and mind, let all the energy drain his body and stared at the chair in front of him tiredly. A few minutes later, Lin Chaosheng brought over a cup of hot tea. He walked slowly and stopped two meters from Lin Chenfeng yet he didn’t notice the sound.
Lin Chaosheng watched Lu Chenfeng who stared blankly and almost melted into the darkness.
Lin Chaosheng lowered his voice and broke the silence, “Sorry, I thought you won’t be able to sleep at night if I made you coffee so I brought you tea instead, it’ll wake you up a little too.”
Lu Chenfeng fixed his gaze on the tea and sat up straight as he placed the cup of tea on the table in front of him, “Thanks.” Lin Chaosheng also gave him a plate of green and purple grapes for free, which was Yunnan’s seasonal fruit in March, “Try some, it’s sweet.”
He drank half a cup of aromatic Pu’er tea, followed by the sweetness of grapes, and his stomach received great care. Lin Chaosheng studied Lu Chenfeng’s state and all the tiredness and distraction disappeared.
Jian Yi turned on the lights and the room suddenly lit up. Lu Chenfeng’s eyes suddenly met a pair of beautiful eyes and both of them felt awkward at the same time, but neither showed awkwardness.
They were both studying each other under the dim atmosphere.
Slowly, Lu Chenfeng looked down and when he picked up his cup again, Lin Chaosheng asked, “Mr. Lu, where are you from?”
Lu Chenfeng pursed his lips slightly and tasted the sweetness before replying honestly, “Beijing.”
Lin Chaosheng leaned back into the chair and glanced at Lu Chenfeng’s fingers distractedly. Lu Chenfeng’s fingers were refined, his nails were all cut and polished neatly. He then exclaimed, “Big city.”
Lu Chenfeng finished drinking the tea and didn’t know how to respond to this ambiguous exclamation.
“There are many chances and hopes in the big cities,” Lin Chaosheng touched his chin with his index finger and muttered the second half of the sentence, “And there are many disappointments that people are impotent of changing.”
These sudden words made Lu Chenfeng clench the cup tightly and frown.
“Are you having dinner here?” Lin Chaosheng seemed to notice Lu Chenfeng’s feelings and quickly changed the topic.
“Mhm,” Lu Chenfeng replied and reached for the phone in his pocket, “Anything would do, I’ll go pay for it first.”
“You are a VIP guest,” Lin Chaosheng quickly stopped him, “All three meals are free.”
Jian Yi, who just rushed back to the counter from the kitchen, stopped in his tracks and stared at his boss in astonishment. Since when did a one-night ocean room guest become a VIP guest? Jian Yi narrowed his eyes with complicated feelings, what shocked him more was that all three meals were free? He never heard of this since the guest house opened!
Lin Chaosheng stood up and rolled up his sleeves naturally, “I’ll bring the menu over, I’m good at all of Yunnan’s specialties.”
Jian Yi was keeping accounts of things and his pen almost stabbed through the paper. He mumbled in a tiny voice, “This is surreal. He is even cooking himself? That isn’t a guest, more like a God.”
Just like before when Lu Chenfeng left the decision of the destination to the driver, he now left Lin Chaosheng the menu for dinner.
Jian Yi rested his arms and head on the counter when he saw Lin Chaosheng coming this way. He stretched out a hand to stop Lin Chaosheng, stealing a glance at Lu Chenfeng and covered his mouth with a hand while complaining, “Brother, I’ve only had your cooking twice at New Year’s Eve these two years.”
He knew what he shouldn’t ask and tried to earn some benefit for himself, “May I freeload of the G…… That guest’s good luck and let me have some of that fine food too?”
Lin Chaosheng gently rubbed Jian Yi’s buzz cut and smiled, “Give me a moment.”
