A long bell suddenly invaded his ears. Lu Chenfeng looked up into the distant waters and thought it was his illusion. Then he heard it again. He looked around and finally turned back, he saw a bicycle stopping by the road across the light gray mist. Someone with a straw hat stepped down from it and waved at him.
Lu Chenfeng subconsciously walked towards him, but Lin Chaosheng waved his arm, pointed at his feet and pointed at him, gesturing to Lu Chenfeng to wait for him there.
Lu Chenfeng fixed his gaze on Lu Chaosheng’s slim and tall silhouette. He watched Lin Chaosheng brush off the tree branches with the back of his hand, crossed the bushes of flowers, stepped across the mud, layers and layers of weeds slowly but steadily. When he stepped onto the dock, a smile appeared on Lu Chenfeng’s face as he watched Lin Chaosheng pressed his hands on his chest to adjust his breathing and beamed.
Lin Chaosheng reminded jokingly, “Swimming is prohibited in Erhai Lake.”
Lu Chenfeng took a second to comprehend and smiled.
Lin Chaosheng stood on the shore and breathed the fresh air deeply. He lifted his arms above his head and exercised his shoulders as he stretched. He slowly breathed out and glanced at the mountain hiding in the fog, “I forgot to ask you this morning, did you like the food last night?”
Lu Chenfeng hmmed, “Yes.”
Lin Chaosheng waited for a few seconds, “Is that all?”
Lu Chenfeng was confused, “What?”
“Is that all the comments I get?” Lin Chaosheng raised an eyebrow and pretended to be unhappy while crossing his arms, “Do I get any compliments?”
He then smiled again. Lu Chenfeng racked his brain and finally reviewed his cooking seriously, “Your cooking was great, it’s the type that people would remember and want to try again.”
Lin Chaosheng finally replied with satisfaction, “Thank you.”
Lu Chenfeng nodded and spoke again after a while, “Should I say, ‘you are welcome’?”
The sky was full and gray, but Lu Chenfeng felt different. He stood with Lin Chaosheng and discovered that Erhai Lake had a beautiful mood which was different from a sunny day.
Lin Chaosheng’s smile ceased a little and asked, “Did you forget to bring an umbrella?”
Lu Chenfeng replied, “It’s fine, the rain’s not…”
He felt something pressing on his head. He looked down and saw a pair of feet standing on tiptoes. Lin Chaosheng’s voice sounded under the straw hat next to his ears, “It’s not big but you don’t want to get wet. It’s a lot of trouble if you get sick during a trip.”
Although that was reasonable, Lu Chenfeng wouldn’t let him go into the rain because of his negligence. He lifted the rim up and wanted to decline the offer, but he stopped at the sight in front of him.
There was another hat on Lin Chaosheng’s head.
Lu Chenfeng, “……”
“It’s almost lunch time.” Lin Chaosheng ignored Lu Chenfeng’s expressions and laughed. He put his hands on his waist and said, “Jian Yi’s going to make braised chicken for lunch, got any stomach for that?”
Lu Chenfeng shook his head, “Breakfast was too luxurious, I haven’t finished digesting that yet.”
Lin Chaosheng, “Does Mr. Lu have any other plans?”
Lu Chenfeng, “No, just an idle man.”
“Then I’ll keep you company while you digest,” Lin Chaosheng said, “You can keep me company to grab some mushrooms.”
