The fresh spring air breezed through as the flowers swayed in the wind. The rays of the sun shone, enhancing the colors of the world. Along a dirt road traveled a long caravan, dozens of carriages accompanied by imperial soldiers traveled through the land, their destination, the capital Ciel. Amongst the fleet was a carriage containing two women.

Evet sat in the carriage, a black rod by her side.
"How many pasa's are in a Bo Lily."

"1000"

"How many Bo's are in a Zo."

"500"

Evet continued to test Lilly; the questions became more difficult as Evet began to ask a broad range of questions.

"Good, it seems that your father was Indeed honest."

Lily's expression shifted, appearing displeased.

"Do not take offense, Lilly; as a merchant, you must always question the intentions of others." Evet smiled. "You will learn soon enough."
The carriage became silent as Evet closed her eyes to rest.

Lily looked outside the carriage; the view of her world welled up a feeling of excitement from within her. As time passed, Lilly recalled her father's last words "Lilly, once you get to the capital, make sure the first thing you do is visit your mother."

Lily began to reminisce on her early childhood in the capital. The capital for Lilly held the happiest memories of her life. She recalled the pastry shop that she and her father would often visit. She remembered her family gathered around the fireplace; Daemon leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, a grin on his face as her mother would read her stories. The friends she would run and play with, then at the age of nine, her family left the city, and along with the move, lily had lost all of the connections she had made. Initially, Lilly felt lonely. However, Lilly would eventually meet new acquaintances and make new friends.

When Lilly began to feel comfortable in her new environment, issues started cropping up at home. Daemon began drinking heavily and would often argue with Ciara. Her mother had eventually left, Lilly felt responsible for the separation, and the guilt weighed heavily on her. Lilly stayed with her father, believing her life could return to how it used to be around the fireplace, everyone smiling. When Lilly and Daemon moved for the third time, she was twelve. When she settled in her new village, Lilly could not build friendships with others. Other children would ask her about her father, who would walk around town drunk every day. Lilly would become defensive, eventually closing herself off from others. Loneliness began to plague Lilly's heart, and a hidden rage dwelled beneath. Lilly started to call Daemon by his name, yet her father said nothing about this, infuriating her evermore. Looking outside the carriage, Lilly smiled; despite her struggles, she truly felt happy at this moment.

Beneath the setting sun, a prominent merchant Caravan was entering the town of Lombardia. A carriage stopped in front of an inn, and two women exited. "Lilly, we will stay at this inn for three nights. We will be working from morning to afternoon. After we finish work, you can use your time as you like." Lilly nodded her head

"Good; any question" Lilly shook her head. "No."

The two women headed towards their rooms "Good night Lilly, make sure to get plenty of rest."
"Good night Evet," Said Lilly, exhausted from the long ride.

Lilly entered her room, a simple room with a bed, a window, and a small closet. Lilly jumped on her bed, and stared at the ceiling; she closed her eyes. Five minutes later, Lilly opened her eyes wide; she became restless. The whole ride towards Lombardia, Lilly had sat in the carriage and, as a result, could not sleep. Lilly rose from her bed and left the inn; night had set; Lilly walked along the pebble road, looking at the wooden buildings, lost in thought. Suddenly something bumped into her and raced past; Lilly quickly looked up and saw a figure in a pure white robe covered head to toe. Lilly could only see the right hand of the oddity and in its grasp was a purse remarkably similar to hers. Lilly paused and began to check her pockets; not feeling her purse, she began to search her person more frantically. Then Lilly looked towards the figure veiled in white and yelled, "THIEF."

The white figure began to run, and Lilly followed not far behind. Through the twist and turns of town, Lilly arrived at an abandoned lot. In the center stood erect a stone tablet, and in front sat her purse. Lilly quickly darted toward her bag, opened it, and counted the coins 'it's all there.'

Lilly felt terror as she scanned her surroundings; The lot was empty, silent. Lilly then turned towards the stone tablet; inscribed upon it was a poem.

One is a part of the whole
all sacrifices one for all
when death approaches, stand tall
no escape, one falls
through time all fall and returns whole

Lilly felt chills run through her body, despite not comprehending the poem's meaning. Lilly turned her head towards the night sky, the stars shining down as she stood mesmerized by the constellations. Her head became dizzy, and she felt as though the world had turned on its head.
