It's been seven years since I was left with Aunt and Uncle. I still remember everything from then until now. I don't remember everything from my past life, including what it's called to remember everything, but it's danged convenient... Or at least most of the time it is. I once walked in on Aunt and Uncle 'wrestling' in their bed. Can't forget it even if I tried, and trust me, I've tried. Anyway, today is my first day of school. The local wizards guild set one up for recruiting purposes. If I show some aptitude for magic ether because of my blood or through study I'll be able to join advanced classes and eventually get my class as ether wizard or sorcerer. Personally I'd rather be a wizard, more diverse spells and I can add spells to my book as I find them.

The world I've been sent to is technologically similar to Eberron, though the land masses and general terrain are very different. Culturally it's typically the usual monarchical structure with a king at the top and various ministers and nobles below down to commoners like me. There is, thankfully, no slavery. It was outlawed several generations ago by the current king's great grandfather. I'd like to think he was being compassionate, but it was evidently in order to bolster the kingdom's economy, which at the time was tanking. The kingdom I'm in is known as The Kingdom of Rustria. It's one of the largest nations in the area, and yes, the 'the' is capitalized; don't ask me why. Right, well, to the north is the Dwarven Thyrdec Kingdom, which is responsible for most of the metal and metal goods in circulation around the region. They basically occupy the mountain range in the center of this little part of the continent. To the north-east is the Celerie Kingdom which has something of a rivalry with Rustria. And to the west is the smaller, Elvish Bastia Kingdom which mostly keeps to itself. To the south is basically just the ocean with various islands that mostly belong to Rustria. The reason I know all this is because Aunt and Uncle have been teaching me stuff. Just the basics mostly out of history and math; though I'm already better at math than them, I just needed to learn this world's notation.

Anywhoozle, I'm currently standing in front of my mirror making sure my uniform is okay. It's basically a blue robe that hangs down to under the knees with gray accents around the collar, sleeves and around the hem. Speaking of appearances, I look a lot like my mother. Same mocha skin, same blond hair, even my horns are shaped similarly as they curl around and over my head. Makes styling my hair a pain so I keep it short. I have my father's red eyes though. Solid in color, like most Tieflings. My feet are like most humanoids so I can wear shoes. Thank goodness too, I'm not sure how I would have handled having hooves.

I look fine so I hurry out to the living room / dinning room and see Uncle sitting at the table reading a newspaper. “Good morning, Uncle.” I say as I head towards the kitchen.

“Morning, Allure. You look like you're ready for school. Are you excited?” He asks while looking up from his paper.

“A little.” I reply while grabbing something to eat from the kitchen. Something I'm immensely grateful for is the technology of this world allows for a refrigerator. It was expensive but Uncle said it would be better to have one for the hot summer months. I wholeheartedly agree too. I was ready for medieval society when I asked to be put in this world but magical technology is amazing! There's even trains! They call them “Lighning-Rails” but a train by any other name. Cars are a thing too, but their not very popular since the driver has to attune to it to move the thing.

“Since I have to go out, why don't I walk you to school?” Uncle asks considerately.

“Sure Uncle. I'll keep you company.” I say, “Where's Auntie?”

“Out in the garden. Probably her druid coming out.” He answers. Yeah, Auntie's a druid and Uncle's a fighter. Fairly high level too, though they say my parents are even stronger. They've told me a bit about their adventures together and my parents sound like absolute beasts. My mother's a rogue and my father's a sorcerer. At least level 16 for each of them too based on some of the thing's they're said to be able to do.

My stats are basically just tiefling commoner. Racial bonuses count for something so my charisma is okay, but most of my stats are just baseline tens. When someone finally gets a class I hear they get a number of ability points to spend based on their potential and can take points from other abilities to reassign them elsewhere. Hopefully I get a lot of points; I'd like to think I have a lot of potential. I was reincarnated after all.

After I eat, me and Uncle head out into the town. We pass by Auntie in the garden and leave with a wave. Our town is called Petra. It's a smaller town, too big to be a village but too small to be a city. It's nice though, very quiet for the most part. I really stand out as the only tiefling in town though, there are a lot on non-humans but kids will be kids and they tried to pick on me. I don't let it get to me, I know what and who I am and I don't need their validation. We walk through the center of town with its many stores then make our way to the other edge where the school is. Uncle walks me to the gate and says goodbye. I reciprocate then make my way towards the center building.

The school is made up of several buildings and looks like a school from my old world, though the towers kinda break that image. There's a tower for each wizard school scattered around the grounds, those are where the special classes are held. I hope to get into the evocation tower, more boom booms and less boom booms on friends. Anyway, the central building is larger than the other buildings on the grounds and houses the class rooms, it's also where I need to go to find the class roster. I'll find my name on the roster then head to the room listed.

I enter the building and see the roster hanging on the wall just past a swarm of other children. Two human males turn around and get a nasty smile on their faces. They come up to me and one says “Well, well if it isn't the local devil.”

“I don't have time to help you feel better about yourself today. I have places to be.” I respond dryly. I'm not even irritated honestly, just focused on getting where I need to be.

“You should know better than to talk that way to your betters!” he yells as he throws a punch.

“Human supremacy huh, in this town? I'm sure your parents would like to hear about this.” I say as a lean out of the way of his clumsy, telegraphed punch. Then I grab his arm and pull on it causing him to stumble. My experience with martial arts from my past life is finally paying off. Though I have to be careful with it or my first class will be monk so I've only practiced a little.

“Wait! Don't tell my parents!” He yells, dismayed. Honestly he showed that side of himself to the wrong person; plus there's a small crowd of kids watching so even if I don't tell it'll still probably make its way back to his parents eventually. I've had problems out of this kid before, mostly just simple teasing, this is the first time he's tried hitting me. Others have tried that before but that's the reason I practiced martial arts. I always managed to diffuse the situation by doing something like I just did, it makes them realize I'm not an easy target and they usually give up.

Aaand the whispering has started. I'd bet the whole town will hear of this by the end of the day. I leave the awkwardly standing there kid and head to the board. I find my class easily and start making my way there. The building only has two floors and my class is on the first. I make my way through twisting halls counting room numbers and eventually find my class room. I head inside and find a handful of kids horsing around with no teacher. I find an unoccupied desk and sit myself down. None of us have any books since those are a precious resource. They'll ether be supplied per class or the teacher will read from it for us to copy notes onto paper. Paper is considerably less expensive than books so that's supplied to us liberally. Thankfully someone in the last thousand years thought to invent the ballpoint pen, which is something I did bring from home. Magical technology for the win!

Soon enough the teacher came in and class started. I'd be receiving an education on par with most nobles here. I must say I'm looking forward to it; to learn about my new world and all the magical secrets it contains. I can't wait!
