-??? POV-

I have a little brother.

He is also the most outstanding person I have ever met.

We are a family of two. Our father and mother died when we were still young, and because we didn't have any close relatives, we were left alone.

Sometime after our parent's funeral, an overseas family decided to adopt us. But in the end, they were just after the money left from our parent's will, and it was not long before they gave us an independent house just for us to live in and not cause much trouble.

At that time, I had conflicted feelings. As a consequence of the sudden change in my living environment, I had no one to direct my feelings of anger and stress. Except for my brother.

I wasn't very kind to him, I used to blame a lot of things on him, although he had no responsibility or control over them.

But instead of coming back at me with insults, he pampered me, he understood my pain and suffering. The reason he was able to do so is rather obvious, he was also going through the same situation as me. The difference in our behavior is only due to one factor: he was stronger. Not physically, but mentally. He realized the dire situation we were in and decided to take action. Instead of venting his raging anger and sadness toward me, he gave me the love we were both missing.

I was the older one, but inside me, I always felt like the cheeky little sister.

With time, I began to change because of him. I became more honest, and behind my brother's back, more hard-worker. I wanted to give back what he did for me, and in the future, be the one in charge to provide our family necessities.

Well apart from these positive changes, I must admit I became a little 'possessive' of my little brother, and I didn't enjoy it when he went playing with friends I haven't been able to check on yet. More than once, I asked for his mobile phone to check his contacts and see if any thief cat was reaching out to him... Really, is there a big sister that won't be worried if a bitc- woman comes closer than two feet or fewer to her dear little brother?!

*Ehem* That will be a story for the next time.

Meanwhile, I also noticed my brother had a dream. He used to explain it to me every time we were about to sleep (together, of course): when he grew older, he would become the greatest engineer of all time.

And when I asked him why, he answered saying: "Because that way, I will be able to solve every problem of ours!" and we both laughed childishly.

What I didn't expect is that he would fulfill his dream at a monstrously fast pace.

He was average in all subjects, but in terms of technology or robotics, he was the personification of the term prodigy. Professionals became aware, and he quickly climbed through school grades. He started writing serious studies, which eventually became worldwide revolutionary. Before I noticed, thousands of contract offers appeared at our house door out of nowhere...

Of course, my brother was still the same kind brother as always, and I was as happy as I could have ever been. Until...

"W-Why are you not answering, brother?"

One day he was late from his workplace and I had already sent thousands if not millions of notifications to his number.

I decided it would be better to go look for him myself and ran out of home.

I went to the laboratory he was working in. When I arrived, my face was clad with despair.

Police cars and ambulances were all around the laboratory doors, and a truck was embedded into a nearby building.

I made my way through the curious crowd and saw a lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, his eyes were opened with surprise as if he didn't expect this one coming. I immediately recognized the victim. He was Alan, my dear little brother, and now he was also dead.

I wasn't able to come out of my room for the next day, and if I hadn't realized something was not right about his death, I would have probably spent there the rest of my life.

Yes, as I said, something of his sudden death didn't fit together... Why was a truck going at an unnaturally high speed, near a guard-protected laboratory? Inside it, there were a ton of reactive chemicals and other valuable designs, so all the heavy transport with the laboratory as a destination was redirected to a secondary building.

The first thing that came to my mind was murderer, but I quickly discarded it: what would anyone gain with this overcomplicated kill? Even if they had a valid reason, they should have done it at his less-protected home.

So I went back and checked the medical and police register of the accident using my position as the older sister of the victim.

As I thought. The driver and main suspect at the moment, while being interrogated by the police, told them his mind went blank, and he wasn't even going to the laboratory in the first place. The police concluded he was just drunk, but when they did him the alcohol test, it resulted negative.

And the medical file was full of questions and illogical information, but the main point was that he wasn't supposed to be dead for the hit he received! As it turned out, he avoided the fatal impact at the last second, and the remaining injuries were not enough to end up the life of a healthy human being.

After confirming my suspicions, I went to my laboratory and got my equipment.

As my brother studied for his engineering career, I was also studying. But not only one specific career, as he did. I wanted to become an overall professional, more centered in science and politics though, the paths which would help my brother the most.

So after using some light spectrums and other molecular waste detectors, I traced back an unknown source of energy coming out from my brother's body death location.

I proceeded to analyze it with the facility supercomputer, and the results began to show: it was dark matter. But that was impossible, because the dark matter could only be found outside planet Earth, and not inside.

So I went further and tried examining its properties. And to my surprise, although a ton of people have already tried seeing exactly what is dark matter, I was the first one who managed to extract accurate information from it. It seemed as if this sample of dark matter worked as a teleporter, and the side I was analyzing was the entrance. I couldn't believe it. If that was the case, despite my brother's body standing here, in this world, his soul may have traveled through this unconventional dark matter and might have ended up in another world.

Fufufufufufufufufu...

This was intentional. I don't know who tried to take MY brother away from me, but this is not the end. I will find a way to duplicate the process, and I will also go. Be prepared otherworld bastard, I am going to meet you sooner than you expect. I will be taking back my Alan...
