-Princess POV-
As I continued working, a guard suddenly opened the door.
"Princess, the people have started a revolution! They have already reached the palace doors!"
"What? Well, it isn't that unexpected... How long can we contain them?"
"The new congress created by hero-sama has already redeployed most of the military power from the capital, so not for much longer!"
"Understood, prepare immediate evacuation. Tell my father to follow the suit."
*Ha!*
As the guard ran away and my private military force enabled the backdoor hidden in my room, I looked back at the window for a minute.
Not even in my wildest dreams would I have thought the ones who were going to dethrone me would be my citizens and a dumb hero...
I don't think father will agree to abandon the capital. I know he will remain here, with his citizens until the last second. I only wish they will treat him under good conditions.
The backdoor connected to the capital sewers, where we could proceed to a temporary safe-house the royalty had previously set up for unprepared occasions.
The people had gone crazy. The her- no, the madman, gave them too much information, too much freedom. In itself, that seems like a positive change, but our citizens weren't prepared, they didn't have the power and knowledge to handle it sensibly. And as things turned out for the worse, they blamed royalty. They thought if they obtained full control, all their problems will vanish from their faces...
The hero wasn't a blessing, it was our demise, I think it is clear by now.
Still, there is no going back.
I will try to reunite our most trustful ministers and take back the reigns of the situation.
At least demons will be ecstatic about the current human empire state. They have us right on a silver plate.
"Father... Please, take care of yourself."
After I got out of the sewers, dark clouds began filling the sky, rain was pouring down my cheeks.
-King POV-
My citizens took down the throne room doors.
I was waiting for them with a smile.
I knew clear as water their reasons as to why they were here, but...
"My dear citizens, tell me the motive behind your rushed arrival."
The newly appointed prime minister, Joseph, former director of the most popular casino in the capital, closed up the distance.
"Unnecessary. You heartless, corrupt, king already know the motive behind our intrusion. We want you to resign and move all your power to us, the citizens of the empire!"
"No problem."
"We are even going to resort to violence if it means-" *Huh?*
"Yes, take the remaining of my political power, not like there is that much." *Hahahahaha!*

The prime minister Joseph looked dumbfounded.
I already thought of this decision long ago. This was my poor atonement for my countless mistakes.
But then in the back, I saw the hero entering the room.
He had a troubled face, but it did not seem as if he cared that much.
"Well, king, sorry for the trouble but... Yeah, it seems as if you are not needed anymore."
My rage piled up, throbbing in my beating heart, and when I was conscious again, I wasn't able to hold back.
"You... You foolish, dumb-looking, cretin! You made this! Just from you coming here, innocent citizens doing their jobs as guards and soldiers are all dead! You ended thousands of lives for your amusement and self-satisfaction!"
My face contorted in anger.
I unsheathed my sword and ran toward the man in a desperate attempt to murder him.
The confused citizens saw me approaching at a quick pace, and someone, probably Joseph himself, penetrated my chest with an iron spear.
Blood spurted out as I regretted my poorly thought actions.
I am sorry, my dear daughter, this sinner of an old man is leaving first.
"You idiot! You wasted your life trying to kill the only man who fought for the noble cause of giving us true freedom! Not unlike yourself, who only cared about, luxuries and property!"
My life was never easy-going, I had to face countless challenges to protect those dear to me, but in the end, I was foolish.
I gave the goddess my responsibilities, the king's responsibilities.
If I hadn't placed that much trust in a person, I just met, maybe... I should have taken matters more into my hands, and avoided relying on unknown factors who presented as the saviors of this country just because of a title.
The worst part was that people were crying out loud warnings to stop my actions.
*Haaaaah...*
The hero was smiling with a complicated expression in the background, meanwhile, the surrounding followers started cheering for my dictated death.
I just hope this serves as a lesson for those rulers coming after me. Before you put all your worries, time, and effort into dealing with your enemy, you might as well first get trustworthy companions around you.
Well, my daughter knew that from the beginning...
I love you, Irina.
With this, the human empire fell, and it became the first to ever exist republic in this other world.
But this world wasn't prepared for the change. To begin with, it wasn't even needed.
For now, the main supporters of the monarchy are retreating, including Irina, the first princess. And I wonder where they will be going...
And for those wondering, unlike Irina's thoughts, the demon empire was also facing its issues on its side...
