The Inverse was inspired by two things. First, the general themes of the series. This series leans on hermetics and buddhist thoughts as it develops its own mythology. Parts of that can be spotted with Svilran talking about the thought of deity VS the existence of deity and whether the thought creates the deity or the deity inspires the thought. The Inverse is the place where more exploration of the interplay between thoughts and reality can happen.

The other thing that inspired the Inverse has to do with Heroes. There's so many stories where heroes dive into the dreams or subconscious of others. Persona 5 would be a good example of a game with heroes that do that. Since this is a series about Heroes, there just HAD to be a way to get heroes that can dive into dreams/inner worlds involved.

So here we are, the Inverse. Heroes of the Conscious and Heroes of the Unconscious, Heroes of the Exoteric and Heroes of Esoteric have now been made possible. Though, how they'll play with the Inverse might not be the way you expect.

The Inverse has many rules that govern it, some which have already be seen here.

The Inverse also has many ways of being modeled. Narlivs chooses to use the topside and underside model, but do keep in mind its just a representation of a multidimensional space in a three dimensional space. A more accurate model is just the Inverse being overlaid on the regular world, but existing in a dimension that can't be perceived. The model doesn't really matter since the spatial relations will never be plot critical, but I'm just letting readers know how wonky this can get. Other beings wouldn't perceive the Inverse/Outverse as the Topside/Underside model and that might come out in their dialogue.

Also, one of the commenters mentioned an interesting word.

mirror world

As we see in this chapter, what's being Inverted are the positions of conscious and subconscious.

So thanks to Sion_Dracul for making me think about this. There's plenty of heroic stories about Heroes fighting Doppelgangers... Should mirror worlds, where morals or alignments are flipped, exist? Should there be a world where Elma is morally inverted, where instead of being Lawful Angry, she is Chaotic Patient?  I had to give this one a lot of thought. I've got my answer, now is just a matter of seeing when it comes up. Would such a world be part of the Inverse? Kind of depends on how the world comes about.

Anyway, there's a ton more left to be discovered!

Oh, one last question for the readers. Would the Inverse be the Inverse if Fainn wasn't there to observe it?
