The sound of a heavy thud could be heard through the commotion.
Qi Qiming never knew that the world could be so quiet that it seemed as if there was no sound at all around him. His mind went blank and he could only hear the thud echoing in his ears…
Beep beep!
As the emergency alarm system went off, there was the smell of blood in the air. It was the coppery smell that would bring out the fear in people…
However, Qi Lei was rushing over to the International Exhibition Centre at this very moment.
Screech!
The car brakes squealed loudly!
Bang!
Qi Lei slammed forward as he was looking through the documents in the back seat when his driver suddenly hit the brakes. The documents in his hands flew everywhere and a gust of strong wind blew the sheets of paper out of the car window!
“What happened?” Qi Lei demanded with a frown. He felt a little heavy-hearted and he could not quite grasp what he was feeling.
“Master Qi, there seems to be a car accident in front!” the driver in front said to Qi Lei as he stopped the car.
Qi Lei’s brows furrowed when he heard that. He looked at the documents that had already flown out of the window and checked the traffic by looking behind him before opening the car door to pick up the documents.
Silence. There was complete silence…
Qi Qiming felt as if the whole world had calmed down, and the sky suddenly felt closer to him.
“President Qi! President Qi! Wake up! President Qi!”
He could hear Secretary Wang Chun’s worried and anxious cry.
Qi Qiming could taste the strong scent of blood when he swallowed, and he was trying hard to keep his eyes open. Secretary Wang Chun could almost catch such a glimpse of death in his eyes, but Qi Qiming reached out and held him tightly by his collar as he struggled to find strength.
“Remember…to take…the documents…the certified documents…to the general meeting…before it starts…Watch over Qi Lei…watch over him…” It took Qi Qiming every ounce of strength left in him to say that. Blood streamed down the corner of his mouth and he slowly lost consciousness.
“President Qi! President Qi!” Secretary Wang Chun held Qi Qiming’s blood-stained body as he desperately called out to him.

At this moment, Qi Lei had just retrieved the documents. When he heard the cries, he quickly turned around and searched for the voice.
All he could see was red, and Qi Qiming who looked like a fallen leaf swaying in the wind. He obviously could recognize his own father and the secretary next to him.
Qi Lei never thought that this would happen. He thought he would hate Qi Qiming who he thought was not worthy to be his father, but after seeing what happened, why did he feel like he was suffocating?
Why was he sad?
Why did his mind go blank? He could not control himself as he anxiously rushed over before grabbing Qi Qiming from Secretary Wang Chun’s arms.
“Are you okay? Are you? Are you okay?” he cried, horrified by what he saw, and he embraced Qi Qiming into his arms.
Qi Qiming seemed to be able to suddenly regain his consciousness when he heard the familiar voice. He struggled to keep his eyes open, and when he saw Qi Lei holding him, there was a hint of solace on his pale old face.
He never knew how warm it felt in the arms of his son. At least, he would not feel so cold.
His son still cared about him, and it proved that the father-son relationship could not be erased that easily. Still…
“I…I’m sorry…It’s okay, I want to see your mother again…and make it up to her in our next life…She’s…a good woman…After she left, I…I’ve been thinking about her…and I’m going to see her soon…” Qi Qiming’s voice was almost too weak to be heard.
Qi Lei was in a daze and he could not control the warmth in his eyes. He was in distress as he said, “If you go, Mother and I will never forgive you! Do you hear me!”
“Ambulance! Call an ambulance!” Qi Lei picked Qi Qiming up and rushed forward as he shouted.
At the reception of the International Exhibition Centre, Mu Yuchen and Xi Xiaye had just gotten out of the car and were making their way up the stairs. Li Si walked over with a solemn face and whispered to Mu Yuchen anxiously, “Master, something terrible has happened. Qi Qiming had a car accident on his way here and Master Qi has taken him to the hospital. He’s in critical condition, and I’m afraid that he might not survive. The perpetrator has been caught, but the situation is still critical and the opening ceremony is about to start. What should we do”
Mu Yuchen frowned when he heard the news from Li Si. He turned and gave Li Si a cold look. “What did you just say?”
“Master, Qi Qiming had a car accident and is in a critical condition. Master Qi has already taken him to the hospital. What should we do now?” Li Si took a deep breath and reiterated.
Mu Yuchen’s face darkened and Xi Xiaye looked at Li Si in disbelief.
“How could this be?”
“It is what it is. I’ve heard from the hospital that he was severely injured and things don’t look too good, but we still have the opening ceremony coming up, so what should we do?” Li Si felt nervous and anxious for Qi Lei. He had worked so hard and finally gotten to this point. How could this happen?
Mu Yuchen took a deep breath, and he could not help rubbing his aching temples. After a moment of silence, he said calmly, “You need to inform Vice President Liu immediately so that he can keep the situation under control and let Zimo step up if necessary. Also, just briefly explain to Yang Sheng about the matter so that they won’t panic and can try to keep the guests under control. You must also arrange for Ah Bao to investigate the driver who caused the accident. Su Chen should be able to get the surveillance video, but you must act fast,” he explained calmly in a logical manner and turned to look at the woman beside him.
He comforted her, “Don’t panic. Just go to the hospital now and check on the situation. Qi Lei’s there alone, so just console him. I’ll be there later.”
Xi Xiaye nodded and said, “Be careful. I’ll check what’s going on and call you back.”
“Okay, now go. Wear a coat. It’s a little cold.” Mu Yuchen took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders as he said that. She was in a black toga evening dress, so the cold weather and icy breeze were certainly a little unbearable…
