Chapter 8: The Hunt for the Zorgons: Adventures in a Post-Apocalyptic World

Alex and James set out on their herb collecting mission, hoping to earn enough units to purchase food for the month. Alex was unranked, unable to use mana like the rest of the population, but he was determined to do his part and contribute to their community. James was ranked F, the lowest rank in the Adventurer Guild, but he was a loyal friend to Alex and always had his back.

As they journeyed outside of the safety of the Hive, they encountered a Zorgon, creature that fed on human flesh and had the ability to use mana. One of the Zorgon, unranked, had strayed too far from the pack and attacked Alex and James. The two friends were caught off guard and struggled to defend themselves.

As they fought for their lives, they realized that the Zorgon was weak and not as powerful as the other Zorgons they had encountered before. They quickly took advantage of this opportunity and managed to defeat the creature, earning themselves a valuable reward for their bravery.

However, their victory was short-lived as they soon realized that the Zorgon had been a scout for a larger group of creatures. The two friends were forced to run for their lives, dodging attacks from the powerful Zorgons as they made their way back to the Hive.

Once they arrived at the safety of the Hive, they reported their encounter to the Adventurer Guild. Alex was hesitant to join the Guild, knowing that his lack of mana would hold him back. But James encouraged him, reminding him that they had defeated a Zorgon together and that anything was possible with determination and teamwork.

And so, Alex made the decision to join the Adventurer Guild, hoping to make a difference in the post-apocalyptic world and protect the remaining humans from the threat of the Zorgons. He may not have had mana, but he had something even more valuable – bravery, determination, and the will to survive.
