On Earth, the North American Continent which was directly attacked by the Kree starships was currently in a mess.

The black missiles falling from the sky could not be hidden from the millions of people down below, despite Carol's best efforts, the smoke-filled sky put the people into mass panic.

The government could not hide this sudden yet terrible situation, facing an imminent bombing, all cities were in chaos.

The people were like animals who've sensed the end of the world, they knew not how to protect themselves and could only follow their instincts. The existing order is pushed to the brink of collapse, maybe it'll snap when the first missile explodes on the surface.

All members of the World Security Council received firsthand intel on the situation from SHIELD.

In front of all the bigshots from different nations and powers, the situation in Mar-Vell's lab was shown to them in the form of live streaming.

In this peacekeeping organization set up a few years ago, there was nothing but silence.

As one of the members of the WSC, Alexander Pierce was currently standing in his office, gazing at the countless missiles frozen in the air a few kilometers in the sky.

On the streets below him, the panicking crowd let out screams like headless flies in the face of apocalypse.

On the screen behind him, multiple important figures of the council were currently waiting for Pierce's remark and suggestion.

All of this was undoubtedly a true danger, yet for someone like Pierce, he saw the opportunity in the danger.

"Everyone, the situation right now is terrible."

Pierce turns around and looks at the representatives on the screen, saying earnestly:

"I no longer have to render some silly threat, because it has already appeared before you. The Kree have declared war on us, the negotiation we expected didn't happen, as the warlike aliens have skipped this process."

"The best agents and warriors under my wing are currently battling for us in the stars, people."

Pierce looks at the screen, the flame goddess-like blonde woman was soaring across the Kree armada like a rocket while causing explosions everywhere; a light flashes in Pierce's eyes as he says in a deep tone:

"But she's outnumbered. So I invited the leader of the mutants to join the fray, right now, they are assisting us in resisting the doom falling from the sky! But this is not enough!"

Pierce places both hands on the table and says to the representatives with different complexions on the screen:

"There's no time for us to hesitate! It's time to retaliate, people!"

"But we have no direct way to launch an attack to space, Pierce."

A female European representative says softly:

"Even if saying so would make us sound cowardly, but even if we amass all of our fleets and ground forces, we won't be able to harm the aliens, we are unable to retaliate."

"We must at least show the people that we can protect ourselves using our weapons."

Pierce points at the sky, then points outside the window, and says:

"We can at least do our best to destroy the weapons falling from the sky as to allow our helpers and warriors to retaliate with full strength! What I mean is, if we do nothing at such times, we will lose the trust of our people."

"Those alien weapons are nuclear!"

Another representative says in a deep tone:

"Even if they explode in the sky, they'll cause violent radioactive clouds; if we take them out using our ground forces, an unimaginable disaster will still occur."

"At least it's better than letting the Earth fall into alien hands."

Pierce retorts:

"We have a way to lock the area of the missile explosions in the atmosphere! I've talked to the mutant leader about this, he made some...mmm, slightly excessive demands, which looks a lot like he's exploiting the situation, but we don't have many choices."

The tough ex-soldier straightens his back and says to the representatives in front of him:

"When I was informed of aliens appearing, I've been thinking, that how much would we have to give out for us to succeed, should both sides go to war, now it seems...that we'll have to give it our all."

"I decided to agree to his demands. And the president had authorized me with command over the fleet 10 minutes ago, people."

Pierce looks at the time on his wristwatch and says to the representatives in front of him:

"We will launch our missiles in 15 minutes, we will launch all the weapons we can launch, to show the people our determination to defend Earth."

"I've no authority to decide on your nation's matters, but the choice is in your hands."

"For now, that'll be all."

As he finishes, Pierce reaches out and turns off the screen in front of him, he then sits on his chair somewhat exhaustedly. He leans against the chair, takes out a cigar, and lights it in the office.

He could feel a heavy pressure, yet he could also feel that once they solve this situation, all the dilemmas faced by him and the SSR will all be broken.

The organization he served for decades would shine a new light.

That is if the war that he commands...does not lose!

"Professor...you there?"

As the smoke arises, Pierce speaks softly while alone in his office:

"Is his Excellency Eric ready?"

"Of course, we're awaiting orders."

A gentle voice resounds inside Pierce's mind like they were conversing. Pierce lets out a smoke breath and says to the voice inside his head:

"Alright, professor, please tell his Excellency Eric this. I've principally agreed to his demands. However, when the dust settles, both sides will have a negotiation as to confirm the details."

The voice in his mind remains silent for a moment, then resounds again:

"Then ready your fleet, your Excellency Pierce, Eric will push the Kree missiles out of the atmosphere after a few minutes."

"Alright."

On the other side, in a quiet yet large estate located in New York Queens, two people were waiting on the grass field outside the castle-like red building.

One was wearing a blue suit while sitting in a wheelchair.

He was a bald elderly man, he looked to be gentle, but right now, his expression was that of a serious one.

The other man had an indifferent expression, there was a unique sense of majesty on him.

He wore a black robe and a strange cape along with a dark red helmet. On the edge of the helmet were strands of white hair, meaning that this was an elderly man.

Right now, the elderly man in a black robe was raising his hand in the sky with his black gloves on and fingers spread.

Shapeless magnetism burst from his will, forming a conjunction in the air that shelters the entire North American Continent with a magnetic field that imprisons the missiles launched by the Kree in the sky.

He had protected the entirety of the North American Continent with his power alone.

His name was Erik Lehnsher, the leader of the mutants hidden amongst the common people, he also goes by the name, Magneto.

The bald elderly in the wheelchair next to him was no ordinary person either, he was the other leader of the mutants, Charles Francis Xavier.

The famous Professor X.

The two were long-time friends, yet also opponents whose ideals have clashed with each other for decades.

Magneto advocates that mutants should be free, while Professor X advocates that mutants should assimilate into human society.

One was a war hawk, the other a dove.

The two's ideal struggles had kept them away from each other for dozens of years, yet in the face of danger, the old friends had reunited. Because both of these wise men had seen the opportunity hidden beneath the danger.

"Erik."

Professor X opens his eyes and says to Magneto beside him:

"Alexander Pierce has agreed to your demands, but he'll be initiating a negotiation after the war ends to confirm the details."

"Hmph, politicians!"

The grim Magneto says in disdain:

"They come for my help when they're in danger, but I'm certain that once the danger has been sorted out, they'll start pulling tricks on the negotiation table...they've always thought of us as a threat, maybe I should 'leak' a few missiles and blow up some cities to let them understand their current situation."

"Don't do that, Erik."

Professor X raises his head and looks at the frozen Kree missiles in the air, his gentle bald elderly says softly:

"What's important isn't them, Erik, what's important is the people."

"Mutants would become the saviors of the world, our image will greatly improve, this will allow our kin to no longer be marginalized...this is a real chance to show society our sincerity."

"That's sincerity you need, Charles."

Magneto snorts:

"What I need isn't just sincerity!"

"Erik!"

Professor X's expression becomes serious as he says in a deep tone:

"When those missiles explode, normal people won't be the only casualties. Are you going to use the blood of our skin to achieve your goal again?"

"I love them."

Magneto shakes his head and says softly:

"I love them as much as you do...forget it, I'll listen to you just this one time."

As he spoke, the ground beneath Magneto began to tremble.

This magnetism-controlling power begins to assimilate his magnetism with the Earth's, to launch so many missiles back into space, his abilities were somewhat lacking, so he needed to borrow the power from the Earth.

"Buzzzz"

In the low yet odd trembling, Magneto spreads his hands towards the sky, as his magnetic field assimilated with the Earth's magnetic field, his powers had greatly improved.

He glances at Charles, who presses his finger on his forehead and nods at him.

Magneto's body then starts to levitate above the ground. Under the force of the shapeless magnetism, he soars into the sky like a true savior, and as he turned his hands, the Kree missiles which represented destruction, slowly begin to turn direction.

Piercing towards the sky like a multitude of swords.

At the same time, Professor X's massive spiritual power spreads across the North American Continent with him as the center like a tide.

At this moment, in the minds of the panicking people, in the minds of everyone, Professor X's gentle voice resounds:

"Do not fear, citizens!"

"Raise your heads and look up at the sky."

As of this moment, the panicking crowd raises their heads, they could faintly see the terrifying black weapons in the sky being slowly pushed back from which they came from.

"Mutants are also a part of humanity, in this hour of near-destruction, we will protect our world with our strength..."

"There's no need to be scared...go home, this disaster will soon be over."

Under the spread-to-the-limit mind interference powers of Professor X, the chaos across the entire North American Continent is soon to subside.

With two of the most powerful mutants joining forces, they quickly eliminate this terrifying disaster in a short few minutes. This was not their first time joining hands, nor was it their first time saving the world.

Just as the expert Cyber had said to Carol, the hidden powers in the seemingly poor Earth were not as easy as so.

The people on the ground looked at the sky in a daze, they saw the weapons that were going to destroy them being pushed back into the stars by an invisible force. And on the ocean surface outside the continent, as well as on the other continents, missiles were being directed at the sky.

Just as the female representative had said, even if these missiles are launched into the atmosphere, they'll likely do little to no damage to the Kree starships. But for the politicians of Earth, it's unimportant whether or not these missiles can harm the enemy; what's important was that these weapons represented their retaliation, it represented their will to protect the Earth.

In this time of crisis, the symbolic meaning behind this would calm the hearts of the people and re-stabilize the existing order.

"Return."

Above the sky, the godlike Magneto senses the black missiles imprisoned in the magnetic field, he retracts his hands to accumulate power, then pushes them outwards.

Terrifying magnetism bursts out like countless invisible hands smashing at the black missiles. The massive kinetic energy granted these missiles terrifying speed which allowed them to break free of their imprisonment and soar into the sky.

This scene caused the alarms of the Kree starships to go off, as well as let the agents in Mar-Vell's lab let out a sigh of relief.

At the same time, on every continent of Earth, the missiles aimed at the sky are launched, soaring into the sky with a trail of fire and smoke.

Seeing this made the panicking people on the ground let out an irrepressible cheer, they finally knew they would not be destroyed so easily.

Earth's Retaliation...

Has come!
