Chapter 107: Arc 3: Chapter 23: Tearing Apart the Stars

"Shoo"

Carol returned to the Dark Aster's command room while glowing with energy and sees Merlin.

The latter was covered in blue blood, his left arm was hung to his neck with a bandage with a blade in his right hand, he stood exhaustedly at the center of the command platform as cut corpses of Kree warriors littered the ground around him.

The flowing blood and stinging smell made the command platform seem like hell.

Clearly, the demon-like warrior in front of her was fighting his own battle as Carol fought with Ronan.

"You alright?"

Carol looks at Merlin with a worried expression, the latter raises his head and lets out a smile on his bloodstained face, he glances at the corpses around him and says:

"I'm fine. Though I'm not as good of a fighter as you are...that doesn't mean that I'll die in the hands of some small-fry."

"Some things have happened, but now's not the time to explain, let me get you out of here first."

Carol steps forward and holds onto Merlin's waist. The latter shrugs and holds onto Carol's slender waist with his still-intact arm.

As blue-red energy surged, she brought Merlin out of the Dark Aster's command room.

Merlin was wearing a blue glass-like head mask that allowed him to breathe in space. Though it isn't exactly the best experience to be taken on a flight by Carol.

Mainly because of Carol's flight speed, Merlin for now could not get used to this near-light speed travel.

He should be glad that there's no air in space, otherwise his body would've burned into nothing from the friction from his body and the air just as Carol started moving.

In a few minutes, Carol brings Merlin back to Mar-Vell's lab.

Seeing the bloody Merlin, agent Barton rushed forward to support his companion.

"Take care of him."

Carol says so to Barton before flying off into space again.

Carol's war has yet to end, this blondie had a staggering amount of stamina that rarely made her feel tired. Merlin sees off the murderous Carol before turning to smile at Barton.

He returns the weapon in his hand to Barton in a pity and says:

"Sorry, Clint, I ruined your weapon."

The bones and armor of the Kree soldiers were tough, added with the impact with Ronan's war hammer, the precision-casted samurai blade had curled up, and there were pothole cracks all over it.

It's a miracle it didn't break in half.

"No worries."

Barton takes the katana blade stained with blue blood and returns it to its sheath behind him, he tells Merlin:

"This turned it into a more perfect collector's item. Here, have a seat and rest."

He supports Merlin to a seat in the cabin, Natasha then walks to Merlin holding a medical kit; she squats in front of Merlin, unravels Merlin's bandaging on his wrist, and starts working on the wound.

Black Widow looks at Merlin and sees the exhaustion in Merlin's eyes, she says:

"You're exhausted, you need to rest."

"Natasha, now's yet the time to rest."

Merlin turns and looks at the command platform in front of him, on the multiple hovering screens, he could see the ballistic missiles launched by the Kree were being sent back into space at a higher speed.

Like retaliation weapons launched from Earth.

The Kree armada also sees their rebound missiles, they begin to try to evade and shoot the missiles down.

But the flight speed of the black missiles was too quick, the Kree had intercepted some of them, but the others struck at their starships.

As Merlin watched, several unlucky starships were struck by the missiles and exploded, like fireworks in space.

Even worse, Magneto had not only manipulated the Kree's missiles, but he also sped up the missiles launched for the Earth's surface, allowing these weapons that never could've reached the orbit to go beyond their limits 

These somewhat primitive weapons in the eyes of the Kree were currently soaring towards their starships through the cold space.

The tides of battle had been reversed, at least, for now.

And the energy-enshrouded Carol was akin to a warrior of destruction flying in the air, her every attack would nearly destroy an entire Kree starship.

"What's with those missiles?"

Merlin looks towards Fury, who explains:

"Pierce invited the leader of mutants, Magneto Erik Lahnsher to reverse the situation with his powers. He's using those weapons to attack the Kree bastard's starships."

A smile flashes on Fury's dark face as he says:

"Those bastards are in trouble."

"No! It's not that simple."

The also covered in blue blood Skrull leader Talos who had just returned to the base shakes his head, walks forward, and enlarges one of the screens.

On that screen were larger-than-average dismantling ships; on both ends of the Kree armada, the main cannons of the dismantling ships have entered their final charging sequences.

The people in the lab could see the glow emitting from the swirling main cannon.

It was an unknown yet terrifying glow.

"That's the dismantling cannon!"

Talos grits his teeth as his wife patched up his wounds while pointing at the screen to explain:

"The most powerful weapon of the Kree armada, they were originally devices used for intergalactic mining, but they've been modified to what you see now a few hundred years ago by the Kree. The thing is used for dismantling planets, from my memories, not even the Kree would use it unless it's a real war of destruction."

"It can convert the starship's energy into a nuclear ray of extreme heat with extreme penetration capabilities."

Talos says with a deep expression:

"All it takes is a few minutes of impact and it'll break through the planetary crust and destroy the planet's core, thus causing the planet to break apart. This thing is an inhumane weapon, and it's very unstable; even the terrible Kree generals wouldn't use it until the very last moment...it seems that you've really pissed off Ronan."

"Carol's trying to destroy it!"

Merlin extends his finger and points at Carol, who was soaring towards one of the dismantling ships.

The female warrior enshrouded in golden-red energy flew with difficulty, around the massive dismantling ship were 6 Kree starships acting as convoys. They saw the threat brought by Carol so they poured all their fire onto Carol.

The blondie was practically charging through a storm of bullets.

The missiles, lasers, and cannons cannot harm Carol, but the frequency of them firing those weapons had greatly reduced Carol's speed.

As long as she retained physical form, she'll be affected by the impact; under the full coverage of firepower, Carol flew slowly like she was swimming against the stream.

"It's too late!"

Talos stares at the glowing cannons of the dismantling ships and says:

"Even if she destroys one...there's still another, it's too late."

The atmosphere in the lab turns silent, even Fury had been clouded by despair. He grabs the communicator and shouts to Pierce on the ground:

"Pierce! Tell Magneto to throw the weapons to both ends of the armada, there are planet-killing weapons there! Hurry!"

Fury's shouting echoes in the lab, but everyone knew...

It was too late.

The cannon of the dismantling ship was glowing like a burning sun, perhaps it will fire within the next minute.

"Meow!"

As they watched the course of the war on the screen worriedly, the orange cat Goose was squatting on the other side of the observation deck, this cat, seemingly full of secrets, kept meowing in an attempt to attract the other's attention.

Merlin turns to look at the orange cat lying on the edge, he had a heavy feeling in his heart and was in no mood to play with the cat.

But as Merlin saw Goose, he also saw what was happening in the direction Goose was looking at.

It was the moon.

Goose was facing the moon, but right now, there was a strange glow flickering on the surface of the moon.

Merlin instinctively stands up and walks towards Goose, the cat pats on his leg with its tail. Merlin gazes at the moon in the distance, then turns around and says to the others:

"Fury, turn the observer to face the moon! Something's there!"

Nick Fury does not hesitate, he reaches out and taps on the screen, one of the observers on Mar-Vell's lab turns to face the moon, and as it zoomed in, a not-very-clear image appears before them.

"Is that...a person?"

Natasha looks at the fuzzy screen before her, in the screen, a black figure was standing atop a mountain range on the surface of the moon, he seems to be accumulating some kind of energy, white light flickered as the energy converged.

"Who is that?"

Merlin frowns and asks:

"Why's he on the moon?"

"I don't know."

Fury also frowns as he says:

"No one knows what he's doing..."

"He's preparing to attack!"

The knowledgeable Talos glances at it a few times, then he lightly taps on the screen, and an energy-detection chart appears.

On the chart, the energy levels on the surface of the moon were quickly rising.

"Who's this? Another one of the superpowers of your planet? Hell! The energy level he's accumulated is nearing Carol Danvers! Another superhuman?"

"No, we don't know him."

Fury says:

"And I don't think Earthlings can just stand on the surface of the moon as casually, that's probably an alien just like y..."

"BOOM!!!" 

Before Fury could finish, the entirety of Mar-Vell's lab begins to shake violently as if it's been hit with a level 10 earthquake.

Without warning, everyone in the lab is sent flying as the lab spun and rolled.

Merlin abruptly transforms into black fog, he maintains his form and looks outside the rolling lab.

At the end of his sights, the 6 starships firing at Carol seem to be struck by an invisible fist, suddenly exploding in the stars; even the dismantling ship that was prepared to fire was struck by the sudden shapeless force.

The large starship spins as if it was being pushed, in Merlin's gaze, he could see the outer deck of the dismantling ship being torn apart, with the fully charged main cannon seemingly affected by the interruption of the force as out-of-control energy began to burst apart; in a few seconds, the large dismantling ship had self-destructed into nothingness.

The accumulated energy even tears apart everything around it.

Merlin could even see the messy Carol being struck by it as the energy flames covering her body were suppressed; luckily, Carol had flown out of the blast zone before it exploded.

"What was that?"

Fury rubs his bleeding forehead as he got up from the ground, he looks at the explosion among the stars and asks the others:

"Anyone knows?"

"Now's not the time to ask this!"

Merlin reappears in human form beside him, he grabs the communicator and shouts to Carol:

"Carol, the other dismantling ship! Someone's helping us, use this chance to..."

"BOOM!!!"

Another shapeless force like just now shook the lab, but the people were prepared so they didn't end up like a mess as before.

Among the stars in front of them, the Kree starships seem to be torn apart by a shapeless force and explode once again; no one knows what's happening, but it's reasonable to guess that it's related to the person on the moon.

That...was definitely someone no weaker than Carol.

"BOOM"

Just as the people began to feel hope, the fully charged dismantling cannon on the other side of the armada abruptly opens fire.

As they watched in despair, the sun-like heat ray soars directly to the Earth's surface and a sharp blade that tears apart the stars.

Its landing area was not on the North American Continent but was in the pacific ocean. And as the destructive ray struck into the Earth, an Earthling fleet just so happens to witness this.

They saw a heat ray descend from the sky that even clouded the sun's ray of light.

The moment it landed, millions of tonnes of seawater were evaporated, what's worse was that following the impact of the dismantling ray, terrifying nuclear energy began to spread all over; the storm formed by the brutal energy sweeps across the ocean surface, throwing up the heavy fleet.

"Detecting violent nuclear reaction! Unable to evade! Unable to evade!"

"Brace for impact! Brace..."

"Nuclear reaction is disappearing! Something...something under the water is absorbing it! Holy sh*t! Something's emerging from the waters! Look!"

Following the screams of the sailors in the fleet, under the threshing seawater, where the dismantling ray had struck, a large, monster-like figure silently appears.

It quickly surfaced, swimming towards the sea surface while withstanding the steel-melting ray.

"BOOM"

As the seawater threshed, in the terrified screams of the sailors, a monster akin to an ancient dinosaur emerges from the depths of the sea while withstanding the dismantling ray.

Just the body exposed on the surface was nearly 60 meters, it's sure to say that its true height was more than 100 meters!

Since when did the Earth give birth to such a terrifying monster?

A creature that can withstand the dismantling ray!

"Its scales are glowing! Look! Blue light!"

The sailors on the warship shouted; the general on the bridge of the ship picks up the telescope and sees streaks of blue light glowing on the dorsal fin plates on the emerging monster's back under the ray, they looked like some kind of strange runic lights.

It gave off a somewhat terrifying beauty.

As thousands of people watch on in a daze, the monster seemingly has fully accumulated energy yet no one could see the monster due to the bright light; the people could only see the monster raise its head, and followed by a deep roaring, it shoots out a blue ray from its mouth.

Like a fish swimming up against the waterfall, the terrifying blue ray withstands the dismantling ray shot down by the Kree and blasts towards the sky.

The ray shot from the mouth of the monster that emerged from the sea had turned the flame-like dismantling ray completely blue.

This scene is caught by the observing devices on Mar-Vell's ship and it made everyone's eyes go wide. Talos even made a fearful expression as this Skrull had been terrified by the continuous appearances of monsters on Earth.

"This..."

"This is the war beast trained by you Earthlings?"

"How...terrifying."
