When Merlin first learned magic, the first beginner's book he read was <Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them>.
It was a picture book introducing hidden magical creatures across the world, including 90% of known magic creatures and some assumptions on legendary creatures.
In that book, the Magizoolgist Mister Newt Scamander used a lot of pages to introduce the many types of dragons currently existing in the world.
According to what Mister Newt was saying, there are around 3000-5000 fire dragons in the world, and this legendary creature is not as rare as people had thought.
Deep in the mountains of Wales England, were the nests of Welsh Greens, and rumors of the appearances of dragons still lurk there.
There were the even more aggressive Hebridean Black dragons living in the islands of Britain, those black dragons living in the sea were extremely dangerous, as they would attack even human ships when hungry.
In the far east where Eastern Dragons delved, wizards called them the 'Lion Dragon', supposedly these large snake-like dragons were rather docile, and they had the same origins in the Kunlun Mountains of the East.
There were also the Opaleyes in New Zealand, they were the prettiest docile dragons in the world.
However, the one Merlin was currently chasing after was not the cute and pretty docile kind, he was chasing one of, if not the most, dangerous and hard-to-deal-with types of fire dragon in the world.
"It's a Hungarian Horntail."
Next to Merlin's black fog, the senior Auror Crow was currently flying on his broomstick, seemingly planning on assisting Merlin in capturing the hungry fire-breathing dragon ahead of them.
He used a type of spiritual link to introduce the ferocious monster in front of them.
"The temperature of the flames it spews out can reach 1000 degrees, and its range is about 50 inches, the Horntail also has superb strength which can allow it to lift any large creature from the ground. It has a superb vision that supposedly allows it to see the ants on the ground from hundreds of meters away; anyways, it's very dangerous and melee confrontation is ill-advised!"
"Stop complimenting our enemy!"
Merlin's black fog locks onto the flying black dragon before him, under the shining sunlight, a cold glow reflects from the copper horn on the head of the raging fire dragon. Its large shadow projected onto the ground like a bomber plane that was flying across the ground.
On the ground, the people watched in astonishment as the fire dragon flew across the air, and in the horntail's deep roaring, chaos spread wherever it flew.
And this was without the horntail spewing fire at the ground.
Merlin looks at the senior Auror next to him and shouts:
"Any way to effectively deal with it?"
"Yeah!"
Crow casts an eagle eye on himself and carefully observes the Horntail, moments later, he tells Merlin:
"The good news is, this Horntail is only 20 meters long, and it seems to be recently mature, so it cannot maintain a prolonged fire breath; its scales aren't as tough as old dragons and can be shattered through magic or bullets. But that is under the circumstance that we lead it to a secluded region."
The senior Auror looks down at the bustling New York street and says in worry:
"It'll be a disaster once the horntail starts spewing fire to the ground."
The fire dragon's fire breath is a type of magic fire, its temperature is far higher than average flames and can light up its prey more easily; most importantly, this fire is lethal to all ordinary life.
Pretty much instant death upon contact.
"I'll draw its attention, you get ready to contain it!"
Merlin shouts at Crow, his threshing black fog begins to speed up and enshrouds toward the roaring horntail in front of him.
Behind him, Crow on his broom quickly turns a direction and prepares to approach the flying fire dragon from a different spot. The senior Auror's palm was sweaty as he held his wand.
North America was not a place for fire dragons to be born, this was also his first time seeing a real fire dragon.
"Alright, baby, come with me."
Merlin says so in a low tone, in the whistling wind, gathering black fog enshrouds the flying horntail from behind; he injects mana into the fog as he attempted to cause a mana explosion to attract the horntail's attention.
But the fire dragon was a top predator amongst the Fantastic Beasts, its sharp senses caused the horntail's large, yellow eyes to shrink as it noticed the rising mana in the black fog around it; it lets out a roar, flaps its wings, and soars higher into the sky.
After quickly breaking free of the black fog, the horntail hovered in the air, it raised its spike-filled head and spewed its dragon breath towards the approaching black fog coming from below.
Like a flaming pillar that came from the sky, Merlin's black fog was quickly enshrouded by the heated dragon breath.
Hot!
Burning hot!
Merlin felt as though it was flying close to lava, bright flames filled his vision which cloaked everything around him.
He grits his teeth, gathers his black fog, and quickly storms out from the area of the dragon flame.
If he had not received the ability to control fire from absorbing Morris' shard of power before, this dragon breath would've been enough to heavily wound him.
And as Merlin stormed out from the dragon breath, Crow who had finally locked onto the horntail waved his wand; a green flow flash on the tip of his black wand, and a Crucio is cast towards the horntail.
"ROAR"
The newly matured dragon was affected by the curse and quickly began to feel excruciating pain echoing through its body. This caused its body to stagger and fall downwards a dozen meters before stabilizing its body.
Crow waves his wand repeatedly, and as he injected mana, the pain caused in the body of the horntail begins to stack; in a short few seconds, the fire dragon then turns its head and lands its cold yet ferocious gaze on Crow.
"Time to go."
Crow realizes this, he then grabs his broomstick and speeds towards the suburbs of New York like a rocket.
Behind him, the horntail that's been infuriated by the pain gave chase.
Spewing flames shoots towards the flying Crow up ahead, the senior Auror begins to thresh about in the air like a sportscar driver to keep himself away from the dragon breath.
He wasn't Merlin, his resistance towards fire was only a tad higher than regular people, if the dragon's breath lands a hit on him, it's certain to be a near-lethal wound.
But compared to a dragon's flight speed, the speed of a broomstick was not very quick, and his continuous dodging of the flames caused Crow to not be able to raise his speed.
In a short few minutes, the horntail had narrowed the gap between the two from several hundred meters to a mere 30 meters.
This was a very dangerous distance, Crow could even feel the burning temperature behind him which nearly scorched his hair.
But luckily, Crow was not fighting alone.
"ROAR"
The horntail had become irritated by this chase, it raises its head and takes a deep breath, a visible expansion appears in its scale-filled belly. Then, a pillar of dragon fire breath much more powerful than the last is spewed forward.
It was like a curtain made of threshing flames, enshrouding all before it.
"God damn!"
Crow looks back, the flames appearing behind him had sealed off all space for him to dodge.
This senior Auror could only raise his magic shield with all his might.
He was like an ant under the tide of fire, soon to be consumed by the threshing dragon flame.

But at the same time, the black smoke following behind the horntail had found its chance.
It sped next to the horntail and quickly expands, enshrouding the horntail's wings, body, and neck; fully charged mana then begins to erupt under Merlin's control.
Like a bomb hanging on the horntail's neck had been triggered at this moment.
"Boom"
A deep boom like the sound of a lightning strike resounds in the air.
The sparks in the black fog near the horntail's body quickly gather into a heated fire cloud, and as the mana and flames erupted, it poured its large force onto the terrifying creature.
"Shla"
Like metal being torn apart, dozens of wounds appeared on the horntail's back, belly, and neck; its tough scales were torn apart, burning lava-like blood mixed with torn scales and flesh begin to fall onto the ground.
On the horntail's neck, there was even a horrifying wound that revealed the dragon's bones.
"ROAR!!!"
The fire dragon was injured.
Its destructive dragon breath was forcibly stopped in this way.
Its body could hardly maintain its flight in the air as its wings flapped randomly, but the pain of torn muscles had temporarily incapacitated its ability to fly, and as blood splattered around, the fire dragon crashed onto the ground while howling.
Rage and fury filled its yellow pupils, like a wounded wild beast.
The battle was far from over, but the good news was that under Merlin's accurate attack, the fire dragon had lost its ability to fly and was falling into an open yet empty stadium.
The bad news was that Merlin and his friends were about to face a fire dragon driven mad by pain.
"Shwa"
Merlin's black fog quickly soars down and catches Crow, who had been knocked unconscious from the dragon's breath, moments before he fell to the ground.
The Auror was in a terrible state.
His pretty coat and sophisticated suit had been burnt, scorch marks filled his body, his well-tidied hair was nearly burnt out and his face was filled with wounds and fire ash, even his wand was almost completely destroyed.
But he was alive.
Thankfully, Merlin's support came just on time, as he would've truly died if he had stayed in the dragon breath for 2 more seconds.
"Sorry, buddy."
Merlin places Crow on the top floor of a large building and serves him an agent meant for burn wounds. He then rushes into the air and flies towaerds the stadium which the horntail had fallen into.
Looking from afar, the stadium had begun to burn, the black smoke caused by lit-up buildings were very eye-catching.
This meant that the horntail had begun to destroy everything around it randomly.
"Fury! I need fire support!"
Merlin levitates in the air and watches the ravaging wounded fire dragon in the ruins of the stadium, he shouts to the communicator:
"Cannonfire or missiles will do."
"Those escaped dark wizards are holding a lot of hostages in a standoff against us in Hell's Kitchen, I'm dealing with this problem now."
Fury replies in a deep tone:
"But Natasha and Barton are heading to you with a new weapon, just hang on for a few more minutes!"
"New weapon?"
Merlin asks back:
"You sure that thing can punch through a fire dragon's scales?"
"It's a replica of some energy weapons we got from the Kree, they're highly destructive."
Fury explains:
"As long as that fire dragon isn't as thick skinned as a starship, that thing can deal with it! Hell, those reporters spread the news about the appearance of the fire dragon, even the president now knows about this, and he's given me three calls! Anyways, deal with it quickly, alright?"
"I'll do my best."
Merlin hangs up the communicator, he then takes out his wand and descends towards the stadium down below.
When the horntail crashed, it smashed the grandstand of the large stadium; it was currently lying on the rublle while spewing flames all around it like a berserking demon, causing the place to look like a hell.
As Merlin descends the ground, the entire stadium had already began to burn.
"Bang"
The horntail's spike-filled warhammer-like tail smashed onto the debree, the powerful force sends the rubble flying.
It tilts its head with the wound on its neck still bleeding, but its bloodshot eyes were staring directly at Merlin who had just landed in the stadium.
The horntail recognizes him.
It was him who caused it injuries.
"ROAR"
The grudgeful beast raises its head and roars at Merlin, clumps of fire begin to gather in its sharp teeth-filled mouth.
"Reducto!"
Merlin waves the crimson red wand Lola forward, causing it to whistle through the air.
Merlin threw out a Reducto, which hit on the fire dragon's head like a fist, tearing apart its scale while causing it to spew its fire in another direction; the flames land on the ground a few inches behind Merlin.
Merlin lifts his head, takes off his glasses, and looks at the fire dragon in front of him; he exercises his body and holds his wand like a true combat wizard.
He looks at the fire dragon's raised head and the threshing flames behind it, it was like he was battling a infernal beast that had just walked out of hell.
"Come on, baby."
Merlin squints his eyes and says softly:
"You're not the only monster here."
