Chapter 186: Arc 5: Chapter 29: Capture

It was near midnight, but the entirety of Los Angeles was still in an uproar.

The loud bang and bright flash that appeared in the direction of the sea were still vivid, the people are curious as to what had happened as every news channel continuously reported about this incident.

But the power of the government was beginning to show, none of the news channels had reported about the giant robot that had appeared on the outskirts of Los Angeles, and the news hosts used all sorts of false assumptions to misguide the viewers, placing them on those odd statements and dragging them away from the truth.

As for the video on the internet, that has disappeared for a few hours already.

Like it had never happened before.

The DoD also knew of their mistake, the area around the signal tower had been locked down. They did not utter a word in the face of SHIELD's cover-up, they even helped eliminate the traces left by the Cybertronians.

The soldiers weren't foolish.

"Multiple DoD search teams are heading here from other locations."

In the mine cave in the mountains beside the seaside town, Coulson tells Merlin:

"They're equipped with different equipment, and they've locked down the desert area of Nevada, where according to the satellite, was Shatter's last known crash site. It's clear that they don't want us to participate in the hunt for Shatter."

"How overbearing, right?'

Merlin pouts:

"Incompetent yet overbearing."

"Director Fury wants us to, if possible, find Shatter before the DoD do, and bring that wounded Decepticon back to SHIELD."

Coulson says:

"Dropkick's remains are already being transported back to our base with Melinda on the task. But a live sample is necessary if we wish to learn about the Cybertronians."

"He's quite good at troubling me!"

Merlin frowns:

"He's asking me to take something from the DoD in broad daylight, that's impossible."

"The capable do."

Coulson smiles, he follows Merlin's gaze and looks at the still-sleeping red and yellow Cybertronians deep within the cave. On the screen of the miniature computer on the table, the progress of Bumblebee's memory database restart is stuck at 99%.

"They're almost awake."

The exhausted young girl Charlie lies on the table and says to Merlin weakly:

"This work is quite torturous, so, this is what your daily work is like, right?"

Curiosity flashed in the girl's eyes as she asks:

"Do you converse with strange things like this every day?"

"Pretty much."

Merlin says so ambiguously:

"This is our life, full of...mmm, ecstasy. What? Are you envious?"

"Not envious."

A certain light flashed in Charlie's eyes as she says:

"It feels interesting, much better than handling paperwork in an office."

"You won't feel that when you have to risk your life fighting those irregulars."

Agent Coulson sits by the table and tells Charlie:

"Though, I'm rather curious about how you brought an amnestic Cybertronian back home? Can you understand it?"

"I washed the car because it was all rusty."

Charlie tells Coulson:

"It started when I turned the car keys. Speaking of which, I should've been suspicious about how I drove it home despite not refueling it."

The young girl shrugs:

"But I was too excited at the time, it was my 16th birthday present after all, so I ignored that. As for Bumblebee, it doesn't talk much, but it's easy to get along with it, it's just like a child, innocent yet fun."

"Fortunately it was in an amnestic state."

Merlin on the side suddenly interrupts them:

"From what I know, B-127, or Bumblebee as you call it, was the best agent under the Cybertronian Rebels; it even had a duty given to it by its leader. Do you know how an agent would act under such a situation?"

 Charlie did not answer.

She was a smart girl and understood what Merlin was implying.

She looks back at the sleeping Bumblebee worriedly.

As Merlin had said, once Bumblebee recovers its memories and becomes the agent it originally was, would it still play with her?

Would it even remember her?

"Bam"

As the three waited quietly, the miniature computer on the table makes an odd noise and the progress bar on the screen finally reaches 100%.

"Shwa"

Cliffjumper was the first to wake up.

The large creature opened its blue eyes, and in the rattling sound of metal, it sits up weakly and unplugs the metal cable from its chest.

The pressure exerted by the mechanical lifeform was very different when it is asleep and awake, and under the mountain-like pressure, Coulson stands up anxiously and instinctively puts his hand on his holster, but is then stopped by Merlin through eye contact.

"You're all here...that's great."

Cliffjumper's voice resounds in the cave, it glances at Charlie and Merlin before looking at the nervous Coulson, but it did not ask about Coulson's origins, instead, it asked:

"The Decepticons haven't discovered this place, right?"

"Dropkick's dead, Shatter is heavily wounded and is on the run, I need to find it as soon as possible."

Merlin looks at his watch and tells Cliffjumper straightforwardly:

"If your condition is still fine, I need you to bring me and my subordinate towards the deserts of Nevada as soon as possible."

"It's dead?'

Cliffjumper exclaims in disbelief, it looks at Merlin:

"Shocking, how did you do it?"

"As I said, you know too little about us, we have our weapons and ways."

Merlin skips through this question, he then looks at Bumblebee and asks:

"Why isn't it awake yet?"

"We need to restart the power after restarting the database."

Cliffjumper extends a finger which transforms into something like a USB port, it then presses it onto a port somewhere on Bumblebee's chest.

Then, the sleeping Bumblebee abruptly opens its eyes, and the blue light in its eyes quickly turns to red as two yellow facial armor quickly cover its face.

Like a complete battle helmet.

It jumps up agilely and did not hit the ceiling due to its short height.

Like a ferocious warrior, its left arm transforms into an energy cannon as a sharp metal blade flings out from its right arm, it then proceeds to cautiously observe the people surrounding it.

One could tell from its skilled combat form that this robot has finally reclaimed its memories.

"Hey!"

Merlin steps forward and shields Charlie and Coulson, a crimson red glow appears on the tip of his wand as he says to the wary robot:

"Is this how Cybertronians treat the people who saved their lives?"

"B-127, calm down!"

Cliffjumper quickly raises its arm and blocks in front of Bumblebee, it shouts to Bumblebee in Cybertronian language, the latter then retracts its weapons and looks around confusingly.

It seems to have forgotten about what happened before.

"Bumblebee!"

Charlie hides behind Merlin and shouts to B-127 nervously:

"Do you still remember me?"

B-127 sets its gaze on Charlie as the red glow in its eyes quickly returns to blue. Its bee-like mask opens up, and one could tell that there was confusion on its face.

A few seconds later, Bumblebee asks using different clips taken from the radio:

"Charlie?"

"Great!"

Charlie cheers and runs out from behind Merlin towards Bumblebee, the latter lowers its body, reaches out, and picks Charlie up, gently placing her onto its shoulder.

Just as how they had acted over the past few months.

"Great! You still remember me."

Charlie sticks her face close to Bumblebee's head, letting out chuckling sounds as she held onto Bumblebee's head.

"So?"

Merlin looks at Cliffjumper and asks:

"Problem solved, right? Do you understand why Bumblebee came to Earth now? Can you tell me about it?"

Cliffjumper hesitates briefly before saying:

"Bumblebee was one of the last Rebel warriors to flee Cybertron, it's also the last to see Optimus Prime; Optimus Prime gave it a mission, come to Earth...and look for the Allspark, and when necessary, it could call for the Rebel warriors throughout the universe to gather on Earth."

"As expected!"

Merlin nods understandingly, he reaches into his pocket and takes out the green energy source previously used by Shatter, he gives it to Cliffjumper and says:

"Are you familiar with this?"

"Mmm, looks like the Decepticons' communications device."

Cliffjumper takes the energy source and inspects it before handing it over to Bumblebee. The latter was an elite agent of the Rebellion and was familiar with this device. A few seconds later, it says through clips taken from the radio:

"It's a calling device and it's been activated. They'll come to this planet...like sharks tracking blood."

Bumblebee returns the green energy device to Merlin, it bends down, looks at Merlin, and says:

"You, need, our help!"

"We'll talk about this later!"

Merlin plans not to give the Cybertronians a promise on this important question, in fact, not even Fury would have the authorization to do so.

It was too risky to summon a group of powerful extraterrestrial lifeforms to Earth.

"It's late."

Merlin says to the two Cybertronians in front of him:

"We have to catch Shatter before the soldiers of the DoD do."

Under the night sky, two cars, one black and the other yellow, speed across the desert.

Their speed was so fast it was beyond the capabilities of normal cars.

"Slow down, hell, slow down a bit."

Coulson sits on Cliffjumper's passenger seat, the poor agent had a pale expression and looked like it was about to barf. He didn't have a tough physique like Merlin, and under the high speed, he feels as though his consciousness was going fuzzier.

"Ignore him.

Merlin glances at the sickly Coulson and tells Cliffjumper:

"Maintain this speed, also, have you found Shatter's signal?"

"In terms of tracking, Bumblebee's the expert, so we just have to follow it."

In front of Cliffjumper's black muscle car, Bumblebee was taking its friend for a ride. Of course, it's changed forms after recovering its memories.

The car had shifted forms into one that's suitable for moving.

Its exterior was that of a dazzling yellow Camaro sports car with black stripes. Though, Bumblebee sure is persistent on the color yellow.

Merlin lowers the car window and gazes deep into the desert, in the sky above them, the raven spirit Victor was flying and was sharing the situation of the surrounding environment through its high viewpoint.

Under the raven's observation, Merlin could see a group of soldiers searching for something a few kilometers away.

There were even helicopters flying about.

"We're very close to them, will they find us out?"

Merlin asks.

"No! Bumblebee has disrupted their electronic devices, we're non-existent' in their radars."

Cliffjumper replies:

"Cybertronian secret agents are top-notch at camouflage."

"Mmm, it is convenient."

Merlin nods, as electronic technology advances, Bumblebee's disruptive and camouflaging abilities are enough for Cybertronians to hide easily on Earth.

Supposedly, there are plenty of Cybertronian warriors like Shatter and Bumblebee who can disrupt electronic devices, and Bumblebee's disruptive abilities aren't even the best.

Among the Decepticons, there was one called 'Shockwave' who could instantly overwrite any programs on electronic devices. 

Merlin could imagine that once that Shockwave comes to Earth, it could plunge the Earth into utter chaos just by tweaking the launch procedure of the nuclear rockets.

Mmm, have to be prepared for that!

Merlin squints his eyes, his way of thinking was beginning to Fury-ize the longer he works with Fury, he's more into finding a backup plan in case of any foreseen dangers.

But this was a good habit for agents.

"Found it!"

Cliffjumper suddenly says:

"Bumblebee's picked up a weak signal, in the canyon just up ahead!"

"Prepare for battle, Merlin!"
