Chapter 99: Arc 3: Chapter 16: Goose’s Secret

"Ugh"

The body of the Kree warrior whom Merlin had cut the throat of was having an intense spasm.

The Kree's body was stronger than Earthlings, but the throat was still one of their lethal weaknesses.

Merlin had accurately and ruthlessly made his move. Blue blood began to splutter out of the warrior's wound like a miniature fountain.

Vitality was quickly leaving his body.

"Lend me your finger."

Merlin says softly to the near-death warrior, he raises the warrior's hand and places his finger on the trigger.

The weapons of Kree Starforce had identification capabilities, Merlin knew this from his fight with Yon Rogg.

Merlin sets up the gun, and while spreading his dark senses, he quickly turns and aims at the brute who's trying to flip Natasha off his neck.

"Bang Bang Bang"

Three loud bangs resounded as the heavy weapon shot out three heat rays, accurately hitting the brute's unsuspecting back.

Like being hit was a flying cannonball, the brute's back was torn and he was sent flying, crashing into the cabin wall and falling back down.

Natasha was flung into the air by the sudden impact, she instinctively moves her body to reduce damage taken while falling. But before she fell onto the floor, a black fog appears beside her and catches her.

Merlin returns to the ground while holding Natasha in his arms, the latter looked at Merlin with interest; she jumped off of Merlin's arms, gave the brute a heavy kick on the head, then says casually:

"When did you get here?"

"Not too long ago."

Merlin raises his head and looks at agent Barton who was battling the Kree warrior, then tells Natasha who pulled out her knife to cut the brute's throat behind him:

"Talk later."

"Swish"

His body turns into fog and storms to the upper cargo hold.

Barton was kicked in the abdomen by the dual-wielding Kree warrior and was knocked backward, the Kree warrior holding two green glowing light blades grins as he walked forward to prepare to take agent Barton's life.

But a heavy fist abruptly smacks from behind him, the Kree warrior's senses were sharp, as he turned back and forced back the appearing Merlin. But behind him, Barton took the chance and pulled out a black baton, he throws it and a black combat bow appears in his hand; he takes an arrow from the quiver behind him and shot it out in less than a second.

"Swish"

The Kree warrior could not even react to an attack from such a short distance, then the arrow stabs into his shoulder from behind.

"Puf"

Stinging blood spews outward as the Kree warrior roared, his left arm had been crippled and the blade he was holding falls onto the ground; like a wounded beast, he stabs his last sword at agent Barton who dodges it.

Hawkeye steps forward, raises his elbow, and smashes it at the warrior's neck; as he staggered, he unluckily fell from the second floor of the cargo hold to the first.

The Kree warrior was quite resilient. He was not knocked down from the pain, he used his blade as support to crawl up from the deck.

In front of him, Barton with his bow, Natasha with her guns, and Merlin with the blade he lost; the three elite agents were looking at him with unfriendly expressions.

"Your officer Yon Rogg has become our prisoner!"

Merlin raises the extinguished light blade and points it at the unyielding Kree warrior, saying:

"Drop your weapon, you proved your bravery. We will treat you well following the captive ordinance."

"Alright, I surrender."

The black-faced looks at the three Earthlings in front of him and grits his teeth:

"Let me put down my weapon..."

The guy places his blade back into his waist while talking, he then takes a step backward.

But then, the guy who said he was going to surrender abruptly takes out something from his waist and presses it.

Barton lets loose of his finger and an arrow penetrates his chest, as the beeping continued, a half-covered face helmet appears on the Kree warrior's face; blood dripped from the edge of his lips as he roared deeply: 

"I am the Kree warrior Korath, to die in battle is my honor! Yon Rogg's captivity brings shame to his family, I will not be ashamed as he is!"

"I lost, but the stars will bury you for me!"

"Let's go!"

Merlin realized that the situation was bad as soon as he saw the beeping device in the Kree warrior Korath's hand. He transforms into black fog and dags Barton along with Natasha out of the cargo hold.

The Kree warrior whose body was penetrated by the arrow grins as he threw the device in his hand to the deck behind him, following an explosion, a large hole appears on the deck of the Kree starship Mar-Vell had left. 

The air in the cabin along with all the things that weren't fixed to the ground is sucked into the space outside due to the depressurization of the cabin.

What also flew outside the spaceship was the near-death Kree warrior Korath, perhaps the final fate of this ferocious warrior is to become space trash among the silent stars.

Merlin's black fog used all of his strength to pull Barton and Natasha back into the cabin hallway. Merlin then kicks on the close-hatch button.

But then, an odd sound resounds behind Merlin.

"Meow, meow, meow"

A string of hurried and panicking meowing sounds made Merlin look back sharply, he sees the orange cat Goose moving its limbs crazily like it was swimming under zero gravity.

But its weight was too light, without help, Goose would soon be sucked out of the yet-to-close cabin hatch into space.

"How are you here?"

Merlin reaches out and holds the helpless Goose who was floating in mid-air into his arms as the hatch doors in front of him close with difficulty.

The main control system of the starship may have detected the deck breach, Merlin could see from the closed hatch that a strange foam is spewed out of the cargo hold and it quickly covers the hole in the deck.

"The cat's a stowaway."

Natasha who had just escaped death stood up, she tidied her wine red hair while telling Merlin:

"Maria and Carol drove the plane to deliver us to space, then we noticed the cat hiding in the plane's cargo hold. But the cat's smart, it must've escaped using the chaos."

"You two alright?"

Merlin holds the frightened cat in his arms, he looks at Barton and Natasha then says:

"You have the Tesseract?"

"It's here!"

Barton points at the quiver behind him, he tries to take it out but Merlin stops him.

"Take it and find Fury, he and Maria are trying to free those Skrulls. I have to find Carol, we can't leave her here."

"Mmm."

Barton nods and agrees.

"You be careful, Merlin."

Natasha exhorts Merlin before she leaves:

"There's a Kree woman next to Carol, like a venomous snake, she's dangerous."

"Oh? Is she really that dangerous?"

Merlin looks at Natasha and says softly:

"How is she compared to our Black Widow?"

"Huhu."

Natasha smiles, she brushes her hair, looks at Merlin, and replies softly:

"She's a bit lacking than me."

"Then what should I be worried about? I'm a Black Widow hunter."

Merlin nods at Natasha, he then turns around and disappears into the hallway with Goose in his arms.

Natasha did not waste time, she grabs an ammo clip from her waist and reloads her gun, she then follows behind Hawkeye with his bow at the ready, and the two head to where Fury is.

The Kree starship Mar-Vell had left was not big, it was in fact a lab used for research, there were only 3 levels and Merlin was quick to find where Carol was being held.

Using his spread-out dark senses, Merlin soon locks onto carol's energy signature in a cabin on the upper deck.

But compared to how she was normally, Carol was currently in an unstable condition.

The energy she emitted flickered like fire, burning like she was experiencing some kind of painful torture.

Merlin's fog soon arrives near the enclosed cabin, he sees 8 fully armed Kree soldiers standing guard outside the cabin; Merlin places Goose on the ground and makes a shush gesture to it.

He goes into his Shadow Cloak and holds the light blade he got from Korath in preparation for a surprise attack.

The sword was made of some type of metal, in Korath's hand, this blade would glow a fluorescent green blade, which should be the energy weapon Kree commonly use.

But this weapon also had identity verification capabilities, the sharp light blade would not activate in Merlin's hand. But thankfully, even without activating the energy blade, the sword was sharp enough.

It had great touch, sufficient weight, perfect balance, and excels in cutting and slicing.

Merlin steps forward and prepares to make a move on the Kree soldiers, but then, the orange cat Goose suddenly charges to him, and brushes its head against Merlin's feet, it acted in a spoiled manner while waving its tail.

The sudden situation surprises both Merlin and the Kree soldiers.

Merlin subconsciously looks at the time, it was now 9 pm, which was the time he fed this cat 'dinner'.

Hell!

Merlin curses deeply, he no longer hides and prepares for a frontal attack with the blade and wand at hand.

But the orange cat Goose seems to notice that it's made a mistake, it squats on the ground and licks its sharp teeth with its tongue, then as Merlin clashed with the Kree soldiers, Goose's mouth opens abruptly...

"Fwala"

Four dark red flesh tentacles filled witch suckers and barbs along with a piranha-like tip storm towards the horrified Kree soldiers like an octopus grabbing its prey; then like it's caught its prey, drags them into Goose's 120-degree mouth.

A Kree grabbed onto the ground, fear filled his blue eyes as he even reached out for Merlin in a helpless manner.

But it was useless...

Soon, the Kree soldiers along with their weapons are swallowed into Goose's belly.

The orange cat burps, then it extends its paw to lick it.

It raises its head and tilts it while looking at Merlin who was standing still in a wary posture.

"Meow"

Goose calls out, and Merlin instinctively takes a step backward like he had been terrified. He looks at the adorable Goose like he was looking at some horrifying monster.

"Meow"

Seeing as Merlin didn't praise it, Goose walks towards Merlin's foot with dissatisfaction and pats on his leg with its tail.

Merlin recalls the horrifying scene he had just witnessed, he squats down and recalls the magic book<Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them> which introduced all kinds of odd creatures; he then smoothens Goose's hair discreetly and respectfully.

The orange cat squints its eyes with satisfaction and even rubbed its ear against Merlin's hand.

"I knew you weren't an ordinary cat. Aliens don't keep ordinary cats either."

Merlin looks at Goose, he takes out the remaining cat food from his pocket, puts them in front of Goose, and tells Goose:

"If you promise to not eat me, I'll keep your secret a secret, and I'll buy the best cat food for you in Diagon Alley...deal?"

Goose casually answers with a tone of impatience, seeming to say...

Scram! Don't interrupt me eating! Or I'll swallow you too!

Merlin lets out a breath of relief, he knows from the book <Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them> that most fantastic beasts have superb intelligence and that they were unlikely to harm others while being fed.

And now it seems that Goose has much more interest in the magic cat food than in him.

Mmm, this is a good thing.

Merlin stands up and walks toward the cabin door, he presses the open-hatch button, and as soon as the hatch door opened, 3 heat rays shoot out of the cabin.

Yon Rogg's adjutant, the female warrior with blue skin, black wavy curly hair, and black lipstick Minn-Erva, was operating a weapon similar to a sniper rifle; and there was nothing outside the hatch door in front of her.

"Swish"

Minn-Erva had great combat experience, she immediately changed the spectrum of her tactical glasses and caught Merlin's trace using light detection. But then, as Merlin waved the wand in his hand, the sniper rifle in her hand is forcefully disarmed and thrown to the corner of the cabin.

The female warrior then takes out the combat blade from her waist and pounces at Merlin. But then she was swallowed by black fog, and moments later, Minn-Erva is pressed on the ground with Merlin grabbing her neck.

Merlin glances at Carol. The latter was kneeling on a strange blue crystal panel, and some odd yet disgusting black liquid was enshrouding her body.

From Carol's expression, she must be in immense pain, the energy on her was also threshing about like it was being reformed.

"What did you do to her?"

Merlin questions sternly, Minn-Erva looks at Merlin and grits her teeth:

"Vers is the Kree Empire's war goddess! She'll return to her true home soon! After she awakens, the first she'll destroy is your pathetic planet!"

"She's not as weak as you think of her!"

Merlin lifts her hand and chops on Minn-Erva's neck, knocking her out.

He stands up and casts a Reducto at the crystal binding Carol, but the magic was eliminated by the rolling blue-red energy before it could even come in contact with Carol's body.

The rolling energy in Carol's body is too massive, once it erupts, it'll decimate this entire starship in an instant.

"Fury, bring the Tesseract back to Earth now! The starship isn't safe anymore!"

Merlin sends out a warning through the pager, he then raises his head and looks at Carol, looking at the blondie who was being bound in black liquid with a painful expression.

He lets out a breath, reaches out, and strokes on Carol's blonde hair, saying:

"Don't be scared, girl."

"I'll bring you home..."
