Chapter 20: Midnight Talk

It's late in the evening, inside Alicorn's room, Vestal is doing a check up on Alicorn as she's eating. A radio is playing some piano music and the window is slightly open, so Alicorn can hear the waves of the ocean.

Alicorn is eating a bowl of oatmeal, and bread. There's some orange juice and a slice of cake on her tray. Her siren yellow eyes stare down at the bowl as she slowly eats, lost in thought.

"Okay, everything is looking good." Vestal sets down a clip board. "Now let me just check you Wisdom Cube.

"Okay." Alicorn lays back in bed and Vestal puts a hand on her flat chest and pulls out her cube.

Alicorn's cube is a mixing of blue and black, with a large shard piece of it staying a bright blue. Vestal sets the cube on a little tray and writes some things down on a clip board, before putting it down and setting Alicorn's cube back inside her.

"Everything is looking okay, and you're perfectly healing." Vestal says with a smile.

"Oh, uh, thank you." Alicorn says and she sits up and goes back to slowly eating her meal.

"Well, I'll leave you. Good Night." Vestal turns on a lamp next to Alicorn's bed and as she walks out of the room, she flicks the light switch.

Alicorn finishes her oatmeal and she drinks her orange juice. She looks at the cake and after a few seconds she just picks up the tray and sets it aside.

She then looks to the window and out to the the bright moon, as she listens the the piano soft piano music from the radio.

The sounds of flesh being torn is heard.

"I love you, no matter what, sweetheart." Eric's voice echoes

Drip.

Drip.

Alicorn brings a hand up to her cheeks and she feels a wetness. Alicorn's other hand grips the sheet over her legs tightly.

She lets out a shaky breath and she wipes the tears away. She then slowly gets out of bed and puts her feet onto the cool marble floor.

Alicorn uses the bed as support as she slides off the bed. Her legs wobble slightly, and she takes a few wobbly steps forward before she gets her bearings straight.

Alicorn looks at a nearby table and it has her repaired clothes and tiara.

Alicorn walks over to them and after a minutes she's back in her clothes and she straightens the tiara on her head.

Alicorn walks to the door and puts her hand on the handle and stops. She takes a deep breathe and lets it out and she slowly pulls down on the handle, it's unlocked.

Alicorn opens the door and looks both ways down the hall, it's clear.

She walks out of her room and silently closes the door and makes her way down the hall.

Alicorn walks along a beach, her feet sinking into the sand as she walks.

Alicorn tops walks and she turns out towards the ocean and sits down.

The waves crash onto the shore, then slide out back to sea. Everything is quite, except for the waves and the echoing of the piano from Alicorn's open window in the medical facility just a few good meters away.

Alicorn wiggles her toes into the cold sand as she stares out to the sea.

The moon casts an ethereal glow onto the ocean's surface. The clouds move around the moon, not daring to draw near for fear of blocking its bountifulness. 

A breeze blows gently through Alicorn's Ash Blonde hair.

A pair of footsteps walk towards Alicorn. "Looking to escape." Enterprise asks as she walks over to Alicorn.

Alicorn just shakes her head, then after a few seconds she speaks. "I wouldn't get very far with you around."

Enterprise stops next to Alicorn and she also turns and looks out to the ocean. "Then what are you doing out here, how'd you even get out of your room?"

"Vestal left it unlocked, and I need some calm place to collect my thoughts together."

"Well, you have a week before Commander will decide to do something with you." Enterprise states.

"Hmph, I just need a couple more hours." Alicorn says as she looks at Enterprise.

"A few more hours? You just woke up this morning."

 "I'm a living and breathing Bio Supercomputer. I can recite Pi to a million places. I can tell you the hundred ways to cook an egg. I can pick up an instrument and within a few hours, play an entire orchestra." 

Alicorn looks back out to the ocean. "But that does make me think. Am I a Bio Supercomputer like the sirens, hellbent on destroying humanity?" She brings her knees to he chest and rests her chin on top of them, as she wraps her arms around them. "Will I bring Salvation the way I-... The way she wanted, killing millions of people, or will I bring it my way, saving humanity and Azured ships."

Enterprise looks up to the sky. "The way I see it, you have two options. You can be a siren, hellbent on destroying humanity. Or you can be a tool of war, used to save humanity." 

Alicorn stares out to the ocean surface, lost in thought.

"You don't have to answer now." Enterprise says then she begins to walk off. "You should head back soon, if Sister Yorktown finds you missing, she's gonna have a massive panic attack." She heads off in the distance.

Alicorn keeps staring out to the ocean, as waves crash against the shore. "What am I?"
