Chapter 23 - Exams
Revised in October 6 12:58AM
“Our midterms are finally over!”
“Isn’t that the line characters from novels say every time they finish a school exam?” I said to Kento.
“Are you implying that I'm that cheerful friend of the loner main character in a romcom novel and you’re the main character?”
“Well, you are similar to the generic best friend from Romcoms but there’s no way in hell i’m the protagonist so yes but actually no.”
“You don’t want to be like a protagonist from a romcom?”
“Yup. Being a protagonist just seems like a pain. The author just adds unnecessary events to his life. I’d rather just live a simple and boring life watching anime”
“I guess so.”
“Yeah”
“So anyway, Loner-kun. How did you do with the exam?”
“It was pretty easy. I’m pretty sure I answered 80% of it right”
“Confident are we?”
“Well yeah, I’ve actually been studying. Or rather, I was forced to study…”
“By your parents?”
“…No”
Actually, Sakurai has been helping me study for the past 2 weeks…
—
(October 8)
It is currently Monday and after a long day of school, me and Sakurai are currently eating dinner.
“Hey Inoue-san… can I help you study for everything? Not just history for our midterms?” Sakurai said as she stopped her chopsticks. Naturally, I also did the same after I heard her.
“Huh? Why?”
“Well… I just kind of feel bad. You always cook for me and you even helped me with my illustration problems…”
“Well, I cook for you because I want to try out more dishes. And for the second thing…”
“Even so, I feel bad for only doing something small as helping you study for one subject.”
“You know Sakurai…”
“What?”
“Aren’t you afraid that I’d make you do something lewd?”
“As I’ve said, you can’t do that because I have a lot of power in the school hierarchy and I’m not afraid to use it.”
“Well, yeah but what if after I did something bad, I remove all the evidence?”
You are reading story The Prettiest Girl In Our School Was My Neighbour at novel35.com
“What do you mean by that? Killing me?”
“Yup that.”
“There’s no way you could do that. I mean, you’ve done nothing so far. And besides, you telling me all this is just making me trust you more, you know? It seems like you’re just giving me advice because you’re worried for me.”
“…”
“Also, why are you trying so hard to make it look like you're bad?”
It’s because I want to read novels instead of studying. I said in my head, as I knew that if she heard this, she’d probably get mad because such a stupid reason was why I didn’t want to study.
“Sigh Fine you win. I’d appreciate you helping me with my studies. But I still want to ask for a favor after this month, okay?”
“What’s the favor going to be about? You’ve been telling me about that for a while now. Can’t you give me a clue on what it’s going to be about?”
“Well… It’s going to be related with your illustrations”
“Heh… So I really didn’t have to worry about you doing something to me then?”
“Ahahaha… yeah…”
“So anyways, can we start studying for midterms tomorrow?”
“Eh? Why so early?”
“The earlier the better, right? We’ll have more time to do whatever we want instead of cramming them into a few days.”
“Well, that is true… It’s fine for me I guess.”
“Great. We shall study tomorrow then.”
“Yeah sure. Thaks by the way, for helping me study”
“No, I should be the one thanking you. Well, helping you study probably isn’t going to be a big deal. I’ve heard you get above average grade even with your lazy lifestyle so I can probably teach you easily.”
“…How did you even know about my grades?”
“I have my connections…”
—
Yeah, it was a pretty weird conversation…
“I guess we’ll see if you’re right then.” Kento said.
“Hm why?”
“If you get 80%+ of the answers correct, you should get into the top 50 scores posted after they finish checking the papers.”
“Oh, that… I’ve completely forgotten about that.”
That means Sakurai will be able to see if I actually did learn from her…
