Sean recalls the rumor of a young alchemist among the ranks of the Knight of Favonius. He is the chief Alchemist and Captain of Investigation Team of the investigation team. He was recommended to the knights through a recommendation letter from the top Adventurer of Mondstadt, Alice.
'I never had any opportunity to meet any of them. However, judging from the memories; there was never any dispute regarding the position. So, the latter might possess some extraordinary skills to be directly accepted as a captain in the Knight of Favonius.'
Sean pushes this topic to the back of his mind and focuses his attention on the rest of his crew.
'They seem to have recovered quite a lot. The tenacity of these people is commendable. I might give some basic combat training to them if we manage to successfully clear this dungeon and save the girl. It's the least of things I could do to return the favor. Perhaps it might increase their chance of survival in the next monster tide.' Sean continues to recuperate his stamina.
The monster tide is a regular phenomenon across the vast land of Teyvat. When the density of monsters increases to the brim at certain places; the monsters will attack nearby towns and villages to gain more resources for their survival. Survival is an instinct for every being, be it a monster or a human.
Mondstadt also has regular monster tides. The scale of which might even be bigger than the Sadovaya village. At that time, the knights of Favonius step forward and take care of the monster tide.
Usually, the knights will clear monsters around the vicinity of Mondstadt regularly to prevent the scale of the monster tide from inflating to an uncontrollable scale.
Even adventurers take commissions from the Adventurer Guild to regularly clear monsters. The Adventurer Guild and the Knight of Favonius cooperate during the monster tide.
After an hour,
"Let's move forward!"
The group packs their supplies and prepares to attack the next chamber.
"Sir Sean, there are traps laid in this chamber. We have to be careful with every footstep. During our previous attempt, the traps grievously injured one of our members." Pasha introduces the design of the next chamber.
"It's all my fault. If not for my reckless actions, Rodion wouldn't have lost his leg." Dmitri has an apologetic expression.'
"Don't be discouraged, Dmitri. Sooner or later, we would have to explore this dungeon and clear the monsters within it. Or else a dungeon outbreak might have happened. Rodion was lucky since he only lost a leg." Pasha pats his shoulder.
Sean subtly notices the expression of the rest of the villagers.
'Looks like they have given up on any sort of hope for the survival of the girl. Even Dmitri himself has almost given up. It's his fatherly instincts that encourage him to have hope.'
Sigh…
Sean sighs helplessly.
'I hope the worst is yet to happen. I promised Igor to bring Ana back safely. My heart just can't withstand the pain in those eyes; the pain of the loss of a close friend.'
Sean grips his sword and moves forward.
"I will take the lead. The rest of you follow me."
"Alright!" The villagers nod in understanding.
"The upcoming chamber has multiple traps laid within it. There is a mechanism to deactivate the traps. Only the correct pattern will deactivate the traps. If someone enters the wrong pattern, then all the traps within the room will activate and kill the intruders. There are no monsters in this room." Pasha introduces the next chamber with a gloomy expression.
"What's the matter?" Sean senses the gloom in his voice.
Sigh…
Pasha sighs and responds.
"Actually, it's our third attempt to clear his dungeon. Initially, there were twelve members in our squad. Two of them lost their lives while the remaining two are gravely injured and are being treated by Mila at the village's hospital."
"How far did you explore?" Sean has a sour expression since Pasha withheld information from him.

"We weren't able to go past the seventh chamber. There is a Pyro Regisivine within that room. None of us possess the ability to combat him. The same Regisivine scorched one of our comrades to death." Pasha explains the details to him.
"How much more information are you holding back? It would be better if you don't withhold any information from me." Sean has an annoyed expression.
"I am sorry! It was due to my selfish motive. After observing your skills during the battle with the hilichurls, I thought of seeking your help with the dungeon. If I revealed the information earlier, I was afraid you might fall back. It was my idea to take advantage of you. The rest of the villagers aren't a part of it." Pasha bows his head and apologizes to Sean.
"Pasha… we are at fault, too. We silently agreed with your decision. If only we could reveal the information before, then Sir Knight didn't have to risk his life with us." The rest of the villagers also apologize to Sean.
"Tch… I decided to help you of my own free will. I never had any intention of backing out. However, I will prefer honesty over deception."
Sean stabs his great sword into the floor and turns to Pasha.
"Don't withhold any information from me. Even if you do, I will still attempt to clear the dungeon, since it's my choice. However, after this, I won't have any ties with the Sadovaya village."
The annoyance in Sean's eyes increases. From his memory, he has encountered multiple such people who took advantage of others. He didn't mind it if it was to save innocent lives, but it still leaves a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. However, he can still sort of understand their feelings. If the only person capable of helping him denies his request, then he will be left with no choice but to use deceit.
This was one of his motivations to become an Arslan Great Knight in his memory. He was orphaned at a young age, and the orphanage in which he grew up was attacked by monsters. The knights could have saved the orphanage, but they decided to guard a noble who was well-protected within the walls of his castle. Since that day, he decided to become a knight of the people, not for the people.
Sean grips his great sword.
Unbeknownst to him, his body releases a slight pressure that suffocates the nearby villagers. An invisible dark purple aura seeps out of his body and further suppresses the villagers. The villagers almost fall to their knees. Only Pasha is able to stand, albeit barely.
"Sir… Sir Knight!"
Pasha's pitiful voice rings in Sean's ear, breaking him out of his trance. Sean quickly regains his composure. He notices the state of the villagers and withdraws the great sword from the ground.
"I am sorry. I wasn't able to control my emotions."
'Strange! I didn't mean to release any murderous intention. I only mean to slightly intimidate these villagers with my words. But I somehow ended up releasing murderous intent. This shouldn't be happening!' Sean ponders his previous state.
'Have I lost control of my emotions since my body is still adjusting to its state?'
Sean is at a loss when it comes to the state of his body.
'He is Sean, a Knight of Favonius. But he is also Sean Arthur Orwell, a Grand Cross Knight of the Arslan Kingdom. Now, as far as he could recall; Sean, the Knight of Favonius, met his end at the bottom of Abyss. Whereas Sean Arthur Orwell died while protecting the people of the Arslan Kingdom. Then who am I?' This question arises in his mind.
"Sir Sean, should we move forward?" Pasha's timid voice wakes him.
"Al… Alright! I will take the lead to disarm the traps. Since you lot has already cleared this room; then you must have a general idea of the mechanism and the kinds of traps to expect from this room."
'Whatever my identity is… or used to be… I am Sean, a Knight of the People. And as a knight, I have to fulfill my duty.'
Sean enters the room with the villagers as Pasha explains the details to him.
