Lawrence walked outside towards the waiting Ayame and Yuta, his face was grim after the phone calls he just had.

“What did the police say?” Ayame asked hopefully.

Shaking his head Lawrence answered “They don’t have a missing person's report matching him and they also don’t have the manpower right now to search for his parents.”

“What do you mean they don’t have the manpower, what are they doing?”

Lawrence furrowed his brow remembering what he heard “They didn’t tell me so I had to call Sensei, she told me that villains are enacting attacks across the whole prefecture. It’s not often in the news because the elections are soon.” With every word Lawrence got more irritated.

‘People are dying across the prefecture, but nobody cares because they believe the hero’s will take care of it. The media will rush in to film the heroes in action, but don’t care about the victims.’ Lawrence pinched his nose bridge trying to calm his blood pressure

“We should at least bring him to a hospital, didn’t you say there might be something wrong with his head?”

He shook his head at his wife’s words “We can’t. I told Sensei about the boy, but she said if there are no signs of inner bleeding, she doesn’t have the capacity for him at her hospital. The other hospitals in the city are probably in the same situation.”

“This only happened because he fell while running away from me.” Yuta looked down guiltily. He stood silently as he listened, thinking the boy was suffering because of him.

“No, you saved him. If you hadn’t found him I doubt that he would have survived another night out there.” Lawrence placed a hand on the gentle giant’s shoulder to reassure him. At this Yuta brightened up a little.

Yuta was a 2.50 meters tall young man that looked like a humanoid bison with amber eyes. He always felt self-conscious about his size, afraid of breaking something ever since he was in kindergarten. Living in the city always felt suffocating to him, he only felt free while walking in the woods. Once he was old enough he moved to this place and began to work as a forester. Living with people that accepted him made him happy and being able to help with his strong body without the constant fear of breaking something made him gain confidence. However seeing how afraid the boy was when seeing him made him feel like he was again in the cramped city.

“Don’t feel bad he also seemed shocked to see my eyes. He must have lived a very sheltered life. But he’s not a bad kid.”

Yuta smiled at Ayame’s cheerful attitude.

“Mom! Dad!” a bright and energetic voice came out from Lawrence and Ayame’s House.

“Can I play with the boy?” Their daughter ran towards them in a flower dress. She looked like the perfect mix between her parents, having the golden wavy hair of her father and the deep red eye of her mother.

Lawrence bent down to pick his daughter up “He’s still sleeping, he was very tired…” his daughter ran right past him into her mother’s arms.

“Mom, Dad is lying, he said I can play with him today!” Lawrence smiled wryly hearing his daughter. He knew that Aika was looking forward to finally playing with someone her own age. There were no children where they lived and the closest person to her age was Yuto.

“Forgive you father, he didn’t know how tired the boy was. He just woke up and fell asleep again; he didn't even have time to eat.”

“Is he sick? Can dad help him?” Aika asked worriedly, holding onto her mother more tightly.

“He is not sick, he just needs to sleep”, Lawrence petted his daughter’s head from behind “Just like someone, when they stay up too late to watch All Might videos.”

Aika blushed and turned to her mother while sulking “You said it’s a secret!”

Ayame laughed looking at her cute daughter “Who do you think brought you to bed when you fell asleep in front of the TV?”

Yuta also laughed, seeing the two of them teasing Aika, he looked forward to having children of his own.

“I will drive into town to buy a few things, do you also need something?”

“Not right now, we…” Aika interrupted Ayame by jumping out of her arms and running towards Yuta.

“Yuta-nii, can you buy His Purple Highness gummies, when I am hurt I feel better after eating one!” Aika was excited at the thought of sharing her favourite candy with the hungry boy.

“Sure. I’ll be right back”

“I will give you the money when you’re back”

“It’s fine Takehana-san, it’s my welcoming gift for… what’s his name?”

Lawrence scratched his head and chuckled “We didn’t get the chance to ask.”

“I will ask him when he gets up.” Aika’s interjection made the situation a little less awkward..

______________________________

Noah was still laying down motionless, after hearing what the couple had said, he stopped trying to understand what happened. Becoming a child again, being transported to Japan and a strange werebison were each ridiculous but all of them happening at the same time… Thinking about it would be just a waste of time and energy, so he waited for the doctor.

‘Maybe I’m in some kind of coma and… stop, just wait for the physician!’

The door opened and the blond man came in again.

“It’s good to see that you’re awake. Do you have any pain?” Lawrence was relieved to see the boy up again and calmer than he was before.

“No, well it’s nothing concerning, my head hurts and I’m exhausted.”

“Do you know where your parents are?”

The boy shook his head “No, my apologies. I woke up in the forest, nobody was with me.”

Lawrence furrowed his brow “No problem ,can you tell me your name?”

Noah stopped and thought whether he should tell Lawrence his name

‘The best thing would be to say that I can’t recollect anything. I can’t tell him that I died and woke up here 20 years younger in a foreign country, maybe even a foreign world.’

The monster that chased him down came to his mind.

‘Was it real or was I in shock and imagined things?’

“Are you alright?”

“Yes… no actually I can’t remember anything, I’m sorry.”

While the boy was thinking it looked to Lawrence like he was trying his best to remember anything so he believed that excuse without questioning it.

“Nothing at all? Every bit can help with finding your family.”

This was the chance Noah needed to confirm whether he imagined everything.

“I only remember walking through the forest, before coming across a bison that walked on 2 legs.”

Lawrence paused for a moment after hearing that description.

“That was Yuta. He brought you here, after seeing the condition you were in.”

“He lives here?”

“Of course, his house is across the street.”

Noah looked out the window at Yuta’s house, it looked normal like any other. After examining it he turned back to Lawrence and leaned towards him conspiratorially.

“Could I ask you about Mr. Yuta’s race, if it’s not considered rude.”

Lawrence was confused by that question.

“He’s Asian like Ayame.”

What he said didn’t make sense to Noah

“Can he change appearance?”

“No, that's how he is. Have you never seen someone with a mutation-type quirk before?”

‘That more than a little quirk someone has. Maybe it’s how language adapted to not be discriminating.’

Seeing Lawrence's reaction, it seemed that it was unnatural not to know about mutant’s. Looking down Noah balled his fist, slightly losing his composure. If a half human half animal person is nothing to be surprised by it could mean only one thing.

‘It seems I’m no longer in my world’

“Sorry, I forgot you don’t remember anything.”

Lawrence grabbed the boy's attention, because he seemed to be in pain while trying to remember.

“It’s fine. Are the red eyes of your wife also a mutat… a quirk?”

He remembers Ayame saying that the kid found her eyes strange. He shook his head.

“No, that's not her quirk. But why do you think her eyes are unnatural?”

Noah wanted to cover his face in shame after the interaction he had with Ayame.

‘I told him I can’t remember anything, if I now tell him I remember something like this it will seem strange. But I can’t leave my comment about her eyes unaddressed. For better or for worse I’m a child right now he will overlook some inconsistencies giving me the benefit of the doubt.’

“Aren’t eyes supposed to be either blue, green or brown?”

“Back in the day it was like that, but nowadays people come in all shapes and sizes”

Lawrence scratched his head, as a trained physician he knew a little bit what humans were like before quirks, but he was confused as to why a child would know any of that.

“You would have been considered strange too, if I remember correctly.”

“Me? Why?”

Noah looked at his hands and body trying to find something strange, before he could find anything the doctor handed him a mirror.

‘What the…’

At first he thought he somehow deaged. He looked similar to how he used to look as a child, his nose was a bit sharper and his skin was darker, but the biggest difference, which seemed just as strange as Ayame’s red eyes, were his bright blue ones.

“Could this be my ‘quirk’?”

Lawrence used this chance to check Noah’s pupil reflex with a light. Seeing nothing abnormal he answered.

“I don’t think so, but I’m not specialized in quirks. You should be at the age at which your quirk awakens. It might have something to do with your eyes, we can check later.”

‘Quirk awakening?’ These words gave rise to an even more ridiculous speculation in Noah’s mind, but everything else would make sense.

“Does everybody have a Quirk?”

“No, but most people have one, quirkless people are very rare.”

‘Quirkless…’

“Have you heard of a hero named All Might?”

“Of course, everybody knows the Symbol of Peace All Might.”

Lawrence smiled as he answered. Most kids admire All Might just as reverently as his daughter. The boy remembering All Might may be a sign that his memory was returning.

While Lawrence was happy, Noah’s head started to ache again. He held his temples to soothe himself, every piece of information makes his situation sound more absurd.

Lawrence noticed the kids' strange behaviour.

‘Japan, Quirks, mutants, All Might…’

He had to chuckle.

‘When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth, huh?’

He had to accept the truth no matter how implausible, he was transported into the My Hero World.
