The storm was subjugated by her gaze, She was surrounded by glaciers and tundra nothing left untouched by her winter storm holding her the same medicus who saved her life was now faced with an onerous task.
The clan of winter is of the most amiable people yet the cold nights, absence of resources, and an ever present danger guided these two souls
fates intertwined to a precipice overlooking the tallest mountain for hundreds of miles.
"She was born with a weak heart, And it would appear that she was born partially blind. As you know I must assess without bias if she will burden her people or if she can pull her weight." The Medicus would say contrition in his voice
"You put her through all of that just to kill her? That child is coming with me even if I have to cut you skull to toe old man." Linus would retort with animosity
"You know It weighs heavier than all the snow in the world on my heart young father, You want to protect your own if I spare her the law dictates my life shall cease to make up for the lost resources. who will care for my children, you?"
Staring into her resplendent indigo blue eyes "That storm humbled itself at this little one's gaze... She is the most important thing I have ever held, perhaps she is my purgation for all the terrible acts that I have committed."
Turning himself, his dampened eyes locking with the father's, "She will survive this precipice as she will go on to achieve the greatness she is destined for you shall always find an ally in me son." Emidius would remark
Letting out a small chuckle Linus would ridicule the medicus "I should have known, It's like you old people to resolve yourselves to superstition."
"This old man has a name, I am Emidius and it's not superstition that babe should be dead, Her life defies all known medicine It's rare for a child to be born so serene under normal circumstances much less after choking on blood. In my hands, she was tranquil, In my hands, her eyes sprung open and I felt my soul recoil at her gaze just as the winds humbled themselves."
"I once knew a woman as mystical as you claim this babe is, And then she died by your hands the most gruesome death, the only reason why I haven't hammered your worthless skull in, is because that babe lay with the living, her mother's final wish. So no Emidius in you will I will not find an ally." Linus would remark with abhorrence
Turning to descend down the steep mountain slope Linus would slowly begin to walk down the winding pathway riddled with jagged rocks and contorted trees from the storm.

A thick mountain fog would materialize, Linus incapable of navigating his way down the mountain side the frigid air would have subdued them within minutes, however, the babe let out an exasperated wail within seconds the overcast subdued itself.
"What kind of babe kills its own mother to see daylight..well.. look around you, WAS IT WORTH IT! I would throw myself down that waterfall before I ever bow myself to you babe." Linus would remark in belligerence.
Then suddenly a crackle could be heard from the distance, The babe's resplendent eyes more dazzling than any gym stone ever seen by man would stare into the father's. Turning his gaze to the waterfall he stood there as if muzzled when he saw a frozen river thaw itself, the crackling soon contorted into the sound of water colliding with rock from a thousand feet high the energy splitting the stone into two.
Returning his gaze to the babe, He bewildered would stutter the rushing water flooding their ears before a flooding mass of flapping drowned even the mightiest waterfall mute, They turning their gaze to the heavens, a sight no nightmare dare generate, hundreds of carodula soaring towards them they had been disturbed by the thawing of the waterfall and were rushing their way to the father and babe.
Carodula are crows with teeth that can tear into skin and muscle.
With seconds separating them between life and painful death the father snatched the babe and retreated into the mouth of a nearby cave hoping to shield themselves from the birds placing his newborn child down on the ground unsheathing his sword.
"Remarkable, you killed your own mother to see this world and now you've killed the both of us." The hurricane would fly above them before stopping abruptly as they landed outside the mouth of the cave. scouring to find them they lay silent until the babe let out a wail after falling upon a rock within seconds the flight had begun anew the carodula flying into the dimly lit cave.
Her father stood there stoically, sword in hand an unmovable fixture of this cave slashing away at the agile birds. He was but one against a dozen carodula slowly they would sink their sharp jagged teeth into his person devouring it before taking flight to land elsewhere to steal another bite. Screaming in agony the father would be overwhelmed and seconds from death
