Father likes it, so I like it too. I want to become a more proud daughter. I want to be recognized by Father. Somehow, I seemed to understand Kir’s feeling when he had wanted to receive the Grand Duke’s attention in the past.
“But you don’t like the tutor now? What happened?”
Father’s eyes when he asked that question were as fierce as a predator to go hunting right away.
That question would come naturally as a father. When I suddenly asked to go to someone else to study, he would of course suspect that the original person’s lack of ability or if there was a problem with him.
However, I had no problem with Mr. Hafterry, and I hoped that my rash choices did not bother him. In fact, I wanted to continue studying from Mr. Hafterry if possible. Not because he’s handsome, but because Mr. Hafterry taught me so well that it could be received in my ear.
So I quickly explained it so that Father would not misunderstand.
“No. Mr. Hafterry is really good. I never felt that he lacked as a teacher.”
But in Father’s eyes, the question of why I wanted to study from others came to mind.
“I just want to learn from others. If they were the tutor of the Grand Duke’s son, wouldn’t they be great? They’re from the Imperial Academy.”
“Since that incident, the Grand Duke has chosen them carefully.”
I closed my lips together at the mention of ‘that incident’. It was referring to the incident where I scolded the Grand Duke, so I pretended not to know and rolled my eyes. Even if I pretend to know, I’ll be the one in trouble. Seeing me like that, Father smirked.
“Do you want to learn from a tutor from the Imperial Academy?”
“Yes. There’s no problem with Mr. Hafterry. I’m just curious what other people think. Actually, I like Mr. Hafterry, so I want to keep studying with him.”
I mumbled my wish a little. And the answer came out so easily.
“Then let’s discuss it with him. If the teacher says it’s okay, you can keep studying with him.”
“Huh?”
It was rather unexpected. I was so startled that Father laughed softly when I made a dazed noise.
“You don’t have to take all the Young Master’s classes, so if you adjust it properly, you can take both classes at the same time.”
That’s the way! It’s so simple, I didn’t even think about it. Why did I think I was going to follow all of Kir’s lessons?
“But are you okay? You’ll spend a lot of time studying?”

Listening to Father’s worried words makes me a little worried too. Mr. Hafterry’s class is not easy right now, but if I have less time to study, will I be able to do well?
……No. Don’t give up when things get hard. Try it when you have the chance. There was no guarantee that an opportunity like this would come again. Having already lived life once, I had to seize the opportunity when I had it.
Let’s think positively. If the progress between the two classes is similar, the slightly slower class itself will be a review. Kir is one year older than me, but he doesn’t seem to be a hard-working kid so I thought there would be no difficulties. Wouldn’t the learning speed be similar to mine?
“It’s okay. Let’s try it first. If it’s really hard, I’ll give up either one, but I’ll do my best.”
Father hugged me. It seemed that my serious attitude only looked cute to him. I laughed out loud for no reason, shaking my body. I hugged Father’s neck again and decided to put my heart at ease.
It’s a good thing if it works out well, or if not, it doesn’t matter. Worrying and suffering doesn’t mean it can’t be done. I just had to not get scolded by Father, that’s all I had in mind.
The next day, I confessed that I will be studying with Kir during class with Mr. Hafterry. It was very rude, so I didn’t feel comfortable even though I said it with the utmost care.
“Are you going to take classes somewhere else? Does this mean you will stop taking my classes anymore, or do you want to do it in parallel?”
Mr. Hafterry had a surprisingly normal attitude. A gentle smile with a friendly tone. I was rather nervous because he didn’t look offended at all.
I didn’t know if he was really angry or if he was trying to hide his emotions from his reaction. But like watching a horror movie on a midsummer night, I felt as if a cool wind was passing by my neck.
“Are, are you angry?”
“Did you think I’m angry?”
The soft smile did not leave his lips as I asked. Mr. Hafterry even curved his eyes. It’s the same as usual, but why am I creeped out?
Did father tell Mr. Hafterry for me before he goes to work? He asked me if I wanted to, but I refused, so I guess I should have asked Father to stay with me instead.
The reason I refused was because I was afraid he would feel intimidated because of Father’s harsh appearance. Mr. Hafterry was a typical scholar with a thin body. No matter how much dissatisfaction he had, you will not be able to express his dissatisfaction directly with Father, who is like a bandit. Because his looks are so menacing.
But come to think of it, it is a strange situation for Mr. Hafterry, an adult, to complain about me as a child even if Father’s not here. What I am saying is the medicine to the poison. My voice faded to greater guilt.
“I don’t think you’re angry, but I think you’ll be offended.”
“If you want to stop learning from me, there is nothing I can do. I’m not offended by it. But….. I was surprised that it was sudden. Do you have any complaints with me?”
I hurriedly denied that Mr. Hafterry would be misunderstood.
“I have no complaints. I want to learn more. It’s not that I don’t want to learn from Teacher. But when the Grand Prince suggested that we take class together… I just decided without realizing it. I’m sorry.”
I just confessed the truth as it was, because no matter how many times I explained it, it will only be an excuse. And it’s not that I don’t like the teacher. I’m just blinded by greed. I pleaded with sincerity in my eyes.
