I can't believe such an innocent-looking girl is a murderer. No, she might be innocent looking on the outside, but just like when I saw her in front of the portal, her demeanor was like that of somebody much older than her.
I can't believe she got bullied so much she turned out like this.
"But I don't feel bad and will never feel bad for somebody like that. Somebody who can seem proud by killing other humans," I mutter while grabbing my cellphone and immediately dialing my boss's number.
This seems unnecessary, but for a girl who is near peak A-rank, I need a powerful force to back me up. I also need to prove to him how dangerous she is.
"B-boss, are you on your-"
"Yes, I am already here. A rebellious A-rank, right?"
"B-basically,"
I was still frightened by this man who is peak A-rank.
The chief of the police force and ex-commander in the military. But he wasn't kicked out; instead, he left himself because he said he was too bored there.
"W-welcome, sir. Would you like a cup of coffee while you talk to the girl?" I ask the man who had just walked through the front door.
Milk-chocolate-colored skin and piercing black eyes. His hair was stubby and short, the complete opposite of his 7-foot tall body and almost 3 feet wide appearance.
The aura this man exuded made it hard just to be in his presence due to the suffocating feeling that seemed to grip at your throat.
"Sure. I'll get right to it," He says mȧturėly.
He was most definitely a professional, to say the least…
…
(Lucy POV)
Suddenly, the air in the room grew heavier, but I maintained my composure as a tall man entered the room.
He even had to duck under the doorframe just to get in, which made me snicker a bit.
"Hello, ma'am. It will be quite a while in here, so please get comfy," The man says with a smile.
Ah, this guy's pretty friendly.
"I don't mind," I mutter.
"I heard you confessed to killing humans and chopping their bodies up. You also confessed to storing those corpses in your apartment, which we are investigating now,"
I respond by putting on a clueless mask and tilting my head to make it just a bit more believable.
The man's face didn't even twitch at my response as he glanced towards the corner of the room.
"B-but," A robotic voice says.
Oh, it wasn't automated.
The man's eyebrow twitched, and his face furrowed in anger.
"Either I am being deceived by you, or my people are deceiving me… Now, who should I choose to believe more," The man says, his furrowed face warping back into a smile.
But this smile was different. It shot a shiver down my spine that began to make my body shiver uncontrollably.
One minute passed.
Three minutes passed, and the government worker from before entered the room, handing the man a cup of straight black coffee.
"Wait, you stay here," The man orders.
"Yes, sir,"
The woman stood beside the table, glancing at the massive man who only seemed to grow larger with each passing second and me, a pitiful little girl who was on the opposing end.
"Hey, kid… Are you messing with me?" The man breaks the silence that was almost held together by the tension of a thousand rubber bands.
I tilted my head with a confused mask placed on my face once again.
The man's smile grew more prominent as he glanced towards the corner of the room.
"You are all fired,"
It's all coming together…
The woman's face distorted in confusion, but she couldn't talk back to the man sitting beside her.
She knew that if she made even a peep, she'd be fired or even killed at the most.
"Let me ask you this again… Have you ever killed a human and hid their corpse inside your apartment-"
The ringing of a phone suddenly cut off all tension in the room.
"E-excuse me. It seems the report has come in," The government worker says.
"Answer it and put it on speaker," The man replies.
She immediately follows his orders as she places the phone on the table and presses the speaker function.
"Talk,"
"Report. We have found nothing inside the suspect's apartment. We even brought in an FP to make sure, but they have found no traces whatsoever," A young man's voice reports.
I snickered slightly, and I couldn't suppress the ear-to-ear grin that appeared on my face.
"Good job. You may come back now,"
"Yes, sir,"
Silence befell the room once again, but the atmosphere shifted in my favor.
"Let me ask you once more. Since I can't trust anybody here, I'll decide on my own," The man says, releasing a solid pressure that I could only dream of achieving.
"What a monster," I mutter with a drop of sweat running down the back of my head.
"Have you killed any humans before, and have you ever stored their bodies in your apartment?" The man asks calmy, but his aura says otherwise.
Okay, carefully…
"I don't know what you're talking about?"
The man stared at me intently before reeling in his aura again.
"She's not guilty," The man says, causing the woman to glare at me intently.
"Ah, whoever reported probably told you I participate in Money Laundering as well… But do you think a nameless girl like me, who has no connection to a big family, will be able to do that?" I ask the man calmly after wiping a drop of sweat from my chin.
"*sigh*... Please forgive my subordinates as they have troubled Miss Amana. Allow me to escort you out the door," The man says.
Check… mate.
"I will gladly accept your offer," I reply with my most child-like smile.
As soon as I was escorted out of the police station and the man nimbly removed my handcuffs, I waved goodbye.
I also received a wave goodbye from the man as I walked down the sidewalk towards the nearest convenience store to use the bathroom.
I almost peed myself from the man's aura, so I was urging to take a leak.
"*sigh*... There were a few anomalies, such as the boss being that powerful, but besides that… Everything went according to plan. I should treat myself tonight," I mutter.
First, the corpse in my apartment.
It was something I did as extra insurance after reading the description of the [Flood of Corpses] skill.
[Flood of Corpses]
[Grade: C-]
[Description: Your refreshing water that helped drown droughts and help nurture the land has been replaced with disgusting corpses of each and everything you have slaughtered.]
[Disclaimer: You can not resurrect these corpses, nor can you explode them with other skills]
The third line is what I took advantage of…
It uses the corpses of each and everything I have slaughtered, so all I had to do was place a few of those corpses in my bathroom, and once they asked the question, I just deactivated the skill… that is how I was able to get past that lie detector.
Next, my feigning ignorance went cleanly, and the final and most crucial part, which I was very nervous about… The man's arrogance.
I first noticed how kind he was… But I didn't need that. I needed an arrogant high tier who would make rash decisions.
But in the end, he ended up making a fatal decision after I planted the trust bomb between him and his subordinates.
…
(Back in the police station)
As the female government worker kicked the chair in anger, she glanced at the documents she had retrieved.
She went to go rip them up, but before she could, her eyes landed on a section of the first paper that sent a chill down her spine.
"National Intelligence Ranking… First place," She muttered.
The girl she had been trying to capture was actually first place for intelligence in the United States of America.
"B-but why did she end up like this?"
Lucy might not have the highest Battle IQ out of her peers. She may not be the best at fighting. Her control over weapons and magic is still mediocre.
The only thing allowing her to keep up with her peers was her overpowered sword and skills provided by the system.
But something nobody could beat Lucy at, even before she obtained the system… Was intelligence.
