Green mist quickly began covering the floor of the arena. As it spread, vines grew out from the bottom of my staff, grabbing anything and everything within a 10m radius. I continued pouring my energy into the staff, feeding the mist and vines.

Kids cried out in shock as they tried to get away from the vines. However, the vines were the decoy. The mist was the real attack.

Taking one hand off my staff, I touched the left corner of my black metal mask. Feeling around, I soon found a small button and pressed it. The mask suddenly expanded, covering my whole face.

“Arrggghhh”

The red-haired kid started screaming as the vines lifted him into the air. The vines were wrapped around his torso, holding him upside down. A girl with red-hair flew around him with gray wings under her arms trying to help him out of the vines.

Twins or at least siblings, but I was betting on twins.

Shaking my head, I cleared my thoughts. It was time for the next phase. This was going to drain some of my energy, so I needed to concentrate.

With my free hand I created a small shield around me as I used the other to turn the staff around slowly. With each turn, I sped up until the mist started gathering up. A small windstorm formed around me.

I dropped the shield and grabbed the staff with two hands. Closing my eyes, I slowly drew back the vines pulling everyone who was captured in them towards the windstorm.

As the last vine disappeared, I pressed a small red button on the side of my staff and released a sleeping drug into the air. The mist absorbed the drug causing anyone in the windstorm to inhale it.

Within seconds, seven of the ten kids were out. The other three had managed to escape the vines, their abilities helping them. But they could not escape the mist.

Once the kids trapped in the windstorm had all reached the ground safely, I stopped spinning my staff and let the mist spread through the arena.

It quickly spread like before, taking out two of the three kids. The last one was proving it was going to take a little longer. The brown-haired boy with a scar across his face tried to use his wind ability to create a shield. The way he created his own mini windstorm around him was smart.

However, he wasn’t going to get any fresh air within the next few seconds. A special barrier had been placed around the arena preventing any clean air from entering. His power would end him soon and it did, with him dropping a few seconds later.

I smirked under my mask. It was a really good thing that I practiced this move while holding a barrier. It protected both the wild crowd and made abilities like the wind kids almost useless.

Cutting the flow of energy to my staff, I felt a little dizzy. The mist had drained more energy than I had originally thought it would. Sighing I dropped the barrier to hear the cries and commentary of Leo. Guess I subconsciously soundproofed the barrier too.

No wonder I was a little more drained than usual.

“And she did it again! The Grim Reaper has proved to us what a valuable member she is to the Underworld…”

Ignoring his words, I grabbed a water bottle from a nearby android. Other androids from the medical ward passed me to grab the unconscious kids. Their humanoid form in red and white clothing easily hid the strength and intelligence of these androids. They may have looked like ordinary people but they were the furthest thing. Only the best worked in the medical wards.

“If they’re not up within five minutes go and call Kan. He has the antidote for the drug.”

The android nodded and joined a few clean-up drones. I cracked the bottle open and pushed the same small button on the side of my head, letting the mask fold into itself.

Taking a few sips, I let the medicine in the water replenish my drained energy. I was going to have to work on my energy storage. Not practicing a lot had made me a little rusty with my power.

Throwing the empty bottle away, I turned back to look at the arena. The last match was already prepared, the last ten waiting to begin. I recognized a few faces and saw a little cruelty in one or two.

Most were definingly from the Underworld. I’d seen that look in more than one Underworld kid. I’d seen it in my own face. Walking to the group, I mentally shook my head.

Now was not the time. I needed a clear head. But maybe I could be a little rough. I smiled. Yeah, it was already suspicious that no one was seriously injured in the last two matches.

I could make that up by roughing up one or two here. And I knew just who they were going to be.
