Chapter 12: 12. Unlocking Chakra

Growl… Pssst…

Hiruzen's stomach rumbles. He releases a loud fart and his face turns green.

Huh…

The kids turn towards him with amused expressions.

"I… I will see you later, kids." Hiruzen hurriedly flicker away from the spot in embarrassment.

Pfft… Haha…

Nawaki and Minato burst out in laughter.

"Serve him right for stealing my fish!" Nawaki is still pissed about his fish. Yuji shakes his head.

'I couldn't even see how he disappeared in front of my eyes. So fast!'

Minato clutches his stomach as he recalls the nightmare of food poisoning.

"Alright! Let's do some Taijutsu practice." Minato suggests.

"Let me teach you two. I learned lots of techniques from my elder sister." Nawaki smugly stares at them.

Half an hour later,

"I lost!" Nawaki has a blank expression on his face as he stares at Yuji.

"How… how? I couldn't even touch you once." He asks Yuji in desperation.

"Did sister teach me the wrong techniques?"

"Well… I am pretty good at dodging, I guess?" Yuji scratches his head.

'I overdid it! I should have given him a chance.'

"Alright! Let's do it again. Maybe this time you will win." He attempts to appease Nawaki.

"Yes… this time I will win for sure." Nawaki stands up with new vigor.

Back at the Konoha Hospital,

A medic-nin performs a checkup on Hiruzen.

"Hokage-sama, you have food poisoning? I will prescribe a medicine to ease your condition." The medic-nin writes a report.

"That brat! Did he purposefully serve me a poisoned fish?" Hiruzen grumbles.

"That shouldn't be the case. From the detailed check-up, it looks like the fish wasn't processed properly." The medic-non shakes his head.

"Hmm… the kid did warn me about that. So, I guess it's my loss."

Rumble…

Hiruzen clutches his stomach and dashes towards the bathroom. The medic-nin silently stares at Hiruzen's figure.

'Just which kid could leave Hokage-sama in such a state?'

"I am so exhausted!" The kids lie down on the bank of the river while staring at the setting sun.

"It was a good fight!" Yuji nods his head.

"How was it a good fight? You were just bullying us both. We couldn't even land a single hit on you. You were dodging all of our moves." Nawaki complains.

"Hehe… I told you; I am very good at dodging." Yuji scratches his head.

"Hey Yuji, let's take a look at the scroll Hokage-sama gave us?" Minato's curiosity piques up.

"You mean this!" Yuji takes out the scroll and reads it with Minato and Nawaki.

"Hmm… Chakra Awakening Technique and Leaf Concentration Practice!"

Minato mutters as he stares at various hand signs and body diagrams in the scroll.

"There are some instructions too!" Yuji points toward the instructions.

"Hehe… it's my time to shine. I have already done it." Nawaki rubs his nose.

"This time, I will teach you both. Take a closer look!"

Nawaki picks up a leaf from a nearby tree and places it on his forehead. He directs his chakra toward the leaf.

Fwoosh…

The leaf flutters as a result of Nawaki's chakra. A burst of wind surrounds him and disperses after a short while.

"Amazing!" Minato stares at Nawaki in amazement.

"I will teach you both now. First, you have to awaken your chakra. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and make these hand signs. After a while, you will feel like a water tap has opened up in your body and plenty of hot water will gush forth from it. When I first unlocked my chakra, my body felt like it was soaked in a hot spring. It was a very warm and pleasant feeling. It took me an hour to unlock it and my Nee-san told me that was quite fast. Well, that's how I unlocked my chakra."

Nawaki guides them. Yuji glances at the technique on the paper and follows Nawaki's instructions.

'This looks like one of those breathing techniques practiced by the martial arts to control ki in my previous world. I might be the strongest person due to the effect of the drug, but there were plenty of strong martial artists who could punch through a concrete wall with their bare hands. They practiced a set of breathing techniques to coat their bodies in a layer of strange energy called ki.

Ki was scientifically proven to exist and was speculated by scientists to be a form of dark energy utilized and sustained by the human body. However, it was very difficult to harvest and maintain for a longer time. Only a few people among millions were able to use it to strengthen their bodies, since it requires some sort of aptitude.

Yuji and Minato follow the instructions. Both of them close their eyes and replicate the hand signs on the scroll.

Swoosh…

A glimpse of a water drop falling in a dark black background flashes past Yuji's eyes. The water drop falls into a giant pool of water and ripples spread across it.

'What was that? Was that chakra?' the revelation excites Yuji.

'After I unlock my chakra, I will be able to regain my past strength. No, I might even be able to surpass the past me.' After reincarnating in this world, this is the first time something excites Yuji.

He attempts to replicate that feeling of falling water while continuing to make the hand sign.

Soon, an hour passes in the blink of an eye.

SWOOSH…

A small burst of light green chakra spreads out from Minato's body.

"Wow! Amazing!" Minato stares at the light green chakra emitting from his body.

"Is this my chakra?" He stares at the light green chakra in amazement.

"This is…" Minato's vision turns blurry, and he passes out.

"Oye, Minato! Minato!" Nawaki hurriedly catches him. Yuji also opens his eyes and sighs.

'In the end, I couldn't replicate that feeling which I felt at the start.' He regrettably shakes his head.

"Oye Yuji! Minato has passed out. Is it because of your fish?" Nawaki's loud voice echoes in Yuji's ears.

"What? He passed out!" Yuji hurriedly turns to Minato.

"Let's take him to the infirmary."

Nawaki lifts Minato and places him on his back. Yuji hurriedly cleans the place and grabs the backpack. The trio hurriedly rushes towards the village.

Soon, they enter the village.

"Let's go to my clan compounds. It's closer than the village infirmary." Nawaki hurriedly changes direction.

"Your clan?" Yuji turns to Nawaki with a slightly confused face.

"Yes… Tsunade Nee-san is also a medic. And she is one of the best medics in Konoha."

"Alright!" Yuji nods his head.

Fifteen minutes later,

The trio enters the Senju clan compound.

"Nee-san, I am home! I need your help." Nawaki yells as he enters the house.

"What's the matter, Nawaki?"

Tsunade walks out of the house. Kushina closely follows her. Tsunade is wearing a teal-colored kimono with short sleeves and gray pants.

"Nee-san! Look… look… Minato passed out while performing the Chakra Awakening Technique."

"WHAT? Quickly place him on the ground." Tsunade instructs him.

"Alright!" Nawaki hurriedly lays Minato on the ground as Tsunade inspects him.

She feels his breath and takes his pulse. After a few seconds,

"He is fine. He just exhausted his chakra and thus lost consciousness. This is a normal occurrence when you unlock your chakra for the first time." Tsunade releases Minato's hand

"So, Minato is alright!" Nawaki and Yuji heave a sigh of relief.

Also, I warned you to do it in front of adults. Why did you teach them such a thing?" Tsunade glares at Nawaki.

"Ah… it wasn't me! It was the Third Hokage-sama who gave this scroll to us." Nawaki passes the scroll with the techniques to Tsunade.

Hmm…

Tsunade glances at the scrolls and murmurs.

"That grumpy geezer is at it again. Scouting kids with potential and aiding them ahead of time. Sigh…" She shakes her head.

"Hey nee-san, if it's normal to pass out after unlocking our chakra, then why didn't I and Kushina fall unconscious after unlocking our chakra?" Nawaki curiously asks her.

"Because you two aren't normal!" Tsunade responds to him.

"We aren't normal?!" Nawaki points towards Kushina and himself.

"I knew about Kushina, but even I…" Nawaki is flabbergasted.

"Hey… who isn't normal? I am perfectly normal. Dattebane!" Kushina crosses her arms in front of her chest.

"It's because you two are members of the Senju and Uzumaki clans. Compared to the rest of the shinobis, we have a large amount of chakra reserve. So, when you first unlock your chakra, your body doesn't possess any control over it and thus will release most of it outside before regaining control over it. However, in your case; your chakra reserves are so large that it doesn't matter if you two lose a slight amount of chakra. The most you will feel is some exhaustion." Tsunade explains to them.

"Oh! So, I am kind of amazing." Nawaki places his hands on his waist and raises his head.

Haha…

Tsunade and Kushina burst out in laughter at Nawaki's antics.

"Then what about Yuji? He also didn't pass out." Nawaki turns to Yuji. Tsunade and Kushina also curiously stare at him.

"Well, I… I didn't unlock my chakra." Yuji shakes his head.

"It's alright! I will help you out." Tsunade offers to help him.

"I will gently release a bit of my chakra to guide your chakra. Close your eyes and try to feel it." Tsunade places her hands on Yuji's back and inserts some chakra into his body.
