Chapter 15: 15. The Sealed Demon

"Welcome back!" Tsunade greets them with a smile.

"It's here. I brought it!" Minato pants slightly. He wipes the sweat from his forehead and hands over the diary and the blade to Tsunade.

"Grandma!" Tsunade passes them to Mito.

Hmm…

Mito inspects the inscriptions on the dagger and the book.

"This blade is made of some special material and these fuinjutsu inscriptions on the blade are meant for channeling chakra through them. These inscriptions sharpen and enhance the cutting and stabbing power of the blade. Hmm… there are some unknown fuinjutsu inscriptions on the dagger. I am not sure of their purpose." Mito passes the blade to Tsunade.

"Grandma, even you couldn't figure them out?" Tsunade is surprised to hear this from her grandma, who was hailed as the greatest Fuinjutsu prodigy of the Uzumaki clan after the founder of the clan.

"Just like Kenjutsu, genjutsu, and Ninjutsu, fuinjutsu is also a much bigger field. There are numerous possibilities and lines of study spread across the world. Our Uzumaki clan collected and compiled most of these branches of Fuinjutsu in our clan library. Members of the Uzumaki clan rigorously studied them and created their own unique Fuinjutsu seals. However, despite the Uzumaki clan's vast library of Fuinjutsu seals, the knowledge we have is just a small drop in the sea of vast knowledge. So, it's most probable that these inscriptions are outside the scope of the field of study of the Uzumaki clan."

Mito shakes her head.

"If I was in my prime, then I would have spent my days happily glossing over these new inscriptions. However, the current me doesn't possess such vigor."

Mito grabs the diary and scrutinizes it. After a few seconds,

"It's just like what that boy said. This book had a blood bind seal. Only someone with the blood of the Kura clan could access its contents. If someone else tried it, then the book will self-destruct. Now, as for the contents of the book, I presume they are already safe with the boy."

Mito points toward Yuji's head.

"This book is the legacy his parents left for him. However, there is a restriction on its activation. The legacy will stay dormant within the boy's mind. His attempt to circulate his chakra through his body was the trigger that initiated the inheritance. Now, it's all up to him. I am quite exhausted from today's ordeal. Kushina, later come to my room to continue your study."

Mito passes the book to Tsunade and returns to her room.

"Al… alright Grandma!" Kushina nods with slight hesitation.

"Then what should we do about him?" Minato scratches his head at the sleeping Yuji.

"Minato, why don't you stay with us today? Tomorrow, we can go to the academy together." Nawaki suggests with glistening eyes.

"Right Nee-san!" He turns to Tsunade and shows his signature puppy eyes.

"Well, it's fine with me." Tsunade couldn't make her heart and refuse Nawaki's request. Also, it presents her with an opportunity to monitor Yuji. If his personality turns violent after his awakening, then it's her responsibility to put him down.

"Yay!" Nawaki jumps in enthusiasm. He grabs Minato's hand and pulls him to the backyard.

"Minato, let's practice our skills in the backyard. I will teach you the training I perform every day." Nawaki picks up a wooden sword in excitement.

"First is some Kenjutsu practice!" He tosses another wooden sword to Minato.

Sigh…

Tsunade shakes her head. She glances at Yuji's sleeping face and leaves the place to continue with her work.

Hmm…

"So, this place is my mental plane or mindscape, in other words." Yuji opens his eyes and stares at the pitch-black world around him.

As far as his eyes could see, darkness envelops him.

"So, I am a demon in their eyes." Yuji lowers his head and glances at his body. He is currently imprisoned by multiple dark black chains. His body is nailed against a dark black obsidian floating crystal.

Dark black flames wrap around his body, giving him a malevolent look. The flame cloaks his body and forms horn-like protrusions on his body. His current body resembles Silver, the strongest assassin from his past life.

"But still, this is a pretty weird feeling!" Silver glances at a small figure standing in front of him.

"This feeling of having two conscious bodies." The small figure opens its mouth and mutters.

Both Silver and Yuji glance at each other.

"I am unsure of my current state. But I have to take a guess, then I can assume this current me who is bound to the black obsidian is my soul and this little boy is my current body."

Yuji lowers his head and glances at his hands.

"Then what are those memories I share with this boy? Are they my memories in this new world or are they the memories of this young boy whose body my soul occupies currently?" Yuji is slightly skeptical about his current condition.

"For now, I should focus my attention on the inheritance and awakening my chakra before worrying about such complicated matters. Once I grow strong enough, I will be able to seek answers to all my questions."

Yuji clenches his fists.

"For now, I will guard this secret with my life. If someone gets an inkling of it, then getting locked up in a dark room and being subjected to horrendous experiments will be a light outcome."

A shiver runs across Yuji's body as he recalls Mito's words.

"Compared to Kutsūno Hako: The Box of Ultimate Agony, an ultimate prison where the soul is tortured for eternity, human experiments sound like a light punishment. From this, I can conclude that each powerful clan has some sort of extraordinary legacy, and their means might be beyond my grasp."

Yuji recalls the instance when Mito intruded into his mindscape.

"She misunderstood this young body as Yuji and Silver's soul chained to this black obsidian as a demon sealed within Yuji. That old woman is too scary."

Silver shakes his head.

"She attempted to exorcise me in order to free Yuji."

The excruciating pain his soul felt when Mito used multiple powerful Fuinjutsu seals to eradicate him is still fresh in his mind.

"Compared to the pain my soul felt earlier, being blown by a nuclear bomb felt like a hot summer breeze. However…"

Yuji turns his attention to the black obsidian crystal.

"This black obsidian from Viktor is quite something. Back then, I saved his life on a whim. It wasn't even my intention to save him. But somehow, it ended up benefiting me."

Silver recalls some memories from his past life.

"Back then, I was in my late twenties and was an elite member of the organization. The latest task from the organization was to assassinate the Marshal of the Air Force of a certain country. I successfully infiltrated the heavily guarded air base and managed to poison the marshal. However, the air base was equipped with advanced tech and its layout would change randomly among ten different layouts. I had already planned a route for my escape. However, I was unfortunate and encountered the elite combat unit Eagle on my escape route. The combat unit Eagle was composed of artificially enhanced soldiers and it was a tough battle for me. I had to play a game of cat and mouse with them.

It was during that time; I encountered Viktor and his younger brother locked in a special cell. I was about to ignore and leave them, but Viktor claim to know of a secret route to escape the facility. It wasn't a pleasant experience for that poor guy since for the entire escape I held his brother at gunpoint and he almost lost his life in the battle between Eagle and me.

Later, I came to know about the true identity of the duo. Both of them were the sons of the former marshal who was executed for treason. Both of them were flying lieutenant at that time and thus were sentenced to life imprisonment."

Silver shakes his head at this unpleasant memory.

"The consequences of this mission were bigger than I thought. The test of the blood samples from the Eagle members revealed that the components of the drug used to enhance their ability were similar to the 'Perfect Soldier Serum' used by the organization. This resulted in a large-scale blood bath within the organization. Most of its members were purged on the accusation of treason. Later, a war that lasted for a decade broke out between the two countries. However, none of that matters anymore."

Yuji shakes his head and opens his eyes.

"It's time to unlock my chakra."

He turns his attention to a room-like construct within his mindscape.
