Chapter 3: The Escape

Khaar crept along the cave floor, keeping close to the sound of running water. He knew that if he could find a way out through the cave's underground river, he might be able to evade the orc-mounted hunters and the powerful acolyte.

As he approached the fountain of water, he saw that it flowed into a narrow channel that ran through the cave. He knew that this was his chance, and he quickly gathered his wits and his stolen items from the acolyte's hideout.

With a deep breath, Khaar dove into the channel, swimming as fast as he could against the current. The water was cold and dark, and he could feel the weight of the cave pressing down on him. But he pushed on, driven by the knowledge that his freedom was just ahead.

Finally, after what felt like hours, Khaar emerged from the cave and into the light of day. He was exhausted and bruised, but he was alive. He looked around and saw that he was in a dense forest, far from the orc-infested lands where he had been captured.

With a deep sigh of relief, Khaar collapsed on the forest floor. He was safe, for now. But he knew that he would have to be careful, as the acolyte and the orc-mounted hunters would not give up so easily. He would need to find a new hiding place, and fast.

As he lay there, recovering his strength, Khaar began to plan his next move. He knew that he needed to find a tribe of kobolds who could help him stay safe and fight against the forces that sought to capture him. He also knew that he would need to learn more about the acolyte and the undead cult that she served, in order to understand the true nature of the threat he faced.

With a determined look in his eyes, Khaar set out into the forest, ready to begin his new journey as a free kobold.
