Elise's POV
How much does this young girl have to suffer? Her life has been so closed off and full of so much loneliness. Now she has lost one of her parents and is about to lose the other. Is she doomed to live a life of complete solitude?
I know the word that is spreading throughout the capital is that the duke killed his wife but this can't be the case. From what I know about the duke this is definitely far from the truth. The Duke loved his wife with all his heart and anybody that knew them know this was true.
I definitely think that the church is behind all this. They took my life and put it into unending loneliness and now they are doing the same to my lady. I still remember the drowning loneliness that suffocated me every day, the crashing waves of misery that plagued me wherever I went and the massive dome of isolation that made my life a living nightmare. I would not wish that on my lady so for now, I will keep her company while working towards the completion of what I presume is the last mission the duke will ever give me.
"My lady, please open up we have to leave now."
"A moment please..." (Opens the door)
" My lady as I was saying we have to leave right now."
" But it is the dead of night."
" I know that, that is why it is the best time for us to depart"
"Depart? What about my mother's..."
"You are in danger so we can not take any chances."
"But still, how can I leave? My father has been taken away to somewhere I don't know and my mother has left me all alone. This is the only home I know so where do you want to take me?"
"I know you are hurting but am sorry you cannot grieve properly now. We will first head to the neighbouring kingdom and seek refuge from the monarch if she accepts, we can rejuvenate our energy and focus on getting you back to your throne."
"But... Wait did you mention the neighbour to our dukedom? As in the Bermone Kingdom?"
"Yes, that is where we are headed. With enough luck, we can get support from the monarch to get you your throne back."
"Okay... let us go."
"You can't pack anything because there is no time. We will leave the way you are."
"Okay."
We started walking towards the stairway that leads to the main entrance when I started hearing the clunking sounds of metals probably produced by armour in movement coming from the direction of the staircase. I immediately knew this was an enemy soldier. I turned away and started to move in the opposite direction with the princess carried in my arms. This was quite the predicament I was in seeing that there was no other way out. I started panicking, I know if I put my energy into combating him I could defeat him but that would only make me spend more time giving other soldiers time to come as back up and defeat me. The princess then told me she wanted to be put down. Wait, is she going to do what she did to that deer? I don't think she is capable of doing it to a human being, is she? I put her down and she then signalled for me to follow her. I followed her and we entered a dark room to the opposite far end of her room. I had never seen this room before, it is so well hidden that even when you pass by, it just looks like a wall to you. I could hear the soldier trying to enter her room. The frustration I heard when he found that the princess was missing was quite amusing. I couldn't help but softly laugh. I regained my composure and tried to look for a way out. Then the princess showed it to me. A big wall? No, it was another door disguised as a wall. I pushed it and it opened to reveal a secret stairway. We used it and at the end of it, we were out of the castle and in town. How did she know of this secret path? I have been working, roaming the corridors of that castle for many years but never have I ever learned of any secret pathways.
When we got to town we could see the chaos that was slowly ensuing at the castle. The town seemed to be still. This was most probably because it is deep in the night. I went to procure a horse which we used to escape the capital.
We travelled for a couple of months before we could actually get close enough to the stokes-Bermone border. This was because of the many detours we had to take as we were marked as fugitives to the throne thus we could not use the direct route.
The months spent on the road running were quite tough on the delicate princess. She had been so sheltered and had not ever once lived such a harsh life. The first few weeks she constantly fell sick, but after many weeks of transitioning from her soft life, she got used to the harsh life of being on the run.
Escaping through the border was a challenge so we had to use the forest of monsters as our entry point to the Bermone kingdom.
We moved swiftly in the forest and luckily we were not attacked by any monsters during our entire journey. We entered the Bermone Kingdom through Carmine village.
After a little bit of searching, we found Maggie who took us to Mr Harold. I then explained the situation and he offered to give me a place to stay before we could depart for our journey to the capital.

We were very lucky to catch him before he left for the capital. He was also heading that way for official reasons.
We left with him the next day. The journey took close to a month. When we arrived we were offered rooms and showed where we could freshen up. Afterwards, we were afforded an audience with the Queen.
Cilia's POV
Now I have lost, a half that made me whole. The other is far from sight. For months I have treaded, in life completely alien to me. I fell and fell multiple times, but I always rose knowing that the chance to get a view of splendour is right at my sight. My wings, my sword, and my shield is always there for me. Her and the urgency to see my beloved is the strength I need to go on. I am now at the feet of a foreign power. My wings have afforded me the height and chance to house me again and return me to the life I once knew.
"Raise your heads. May inquire as to why you have requested an audience with me."
"Your Grace, I came before you today to present the princess and heir to the Stokes Kingdom. Princess Cilia Menial. We have a request for your majesty from Our Monarch the Duke of the Stoke Kingdom. That is why we asked for an audience with your Majesty."
"And what request is this?"
" It is for you to take in the princess your grace and raise her till she is able to reclaim her throne from the hands of the Duke's Brother."
"And why should I Help the daughter of the Monarch of our enemy Kingdom."
"For peace your Grace."
"Peace? I am currently at war with the demon kingdom. I cannot afford to waste my time with the affairs of another nation."
"But your grace..."
"If I may be so imprudent your grace as to only request Citizenship in your lands. I understand that your hands are occupied with the war you just spoke of so I request nothing else but the freedom to roam your lands."
"So you do speak. Well if citizenship is what you seek, then that I can grant but for you to gain it, you will be required to first attend Our royal academy. I would like for you to learn about our culture. Only when you are finished will you be allowed to freely roam the Kingdom."
" But that is..."
"I understand, I will do as you say. Thank you for your time."(walking away)
"My princess you do know they want just to monitor you in that academy."
"Yeah I understand, but what are we going to do, we are foreigners in this kingdom and she has willingly afforded us a hospitable welcome so am thankful. Plus I just want to see what their culture is like"
"Yes, you are right, as you wish."
