Chapter 8: A demonic past

Trina's POV

Hello, my name is Trina. I am a maid who works for Lord Harold Vermont. Lord Harold took me in and offered me a job after he caught me trying to steal food. The moment he caught me I knew I was dead this was because of my horns which clearly gave away that I was from the demon race, but he did not kill me he instead gave me food and then asked me where I come from. I then told him my story. I was born in a town called Drania which was part of the Dermot Kingdom. The Dermot Kingdom was a kingdom mostly comprised of demonkind. My parents' names were Joe and Lilian. Joe was a type of human known as demi-human. He was a half-demon and half-human and because of that, he faced persecution from other demonkind. Lilian on the other hand was a full demon. Lilian was a demon known as a vampire. Vampires are types of demons who can use dark magic to steal life energy from other beings' blood by absorbing their blood making them at least seem immortal. This causes them to also be feared among the demonkind. When I was at the age of nine years old we moved from the city of Drania because we faced persecution from demonkind. My parents decided that we should move away before anybody tried to harm any of our family members. We were to visit a demon who was well versed with transformation magic. The demon was to make us look like humans. My father was able to use transformation magic. Although my father could take the shape of a human he could not change any other person so that is the reason we needed the other demon.

When we arrived at the demon's place, we were ambushed by humans. My mother Lilian was sliced to pieces. They then removed her heart and burned it in flames so that she could not regenerate. A vampire was a strong being which drew life energy from the blood of living things but immediately when the heart is destroyed the vampire dies. While I stood there devastated and wondering what had happened my head was chopped off. I then knew I was dead. I soon woke up to find out that I was a vampire too. The life energy from which I had regenerated from is my father's. He was dead same as my mother. The humans then took me and tied me up. They then went to a person who seemed to be the demon we had come to and gave him a bag. I presumed it was a bag full of gold coins. They then took me to their carriage. I was then Blindfolded. We travelled over long distances since we started the journey at dawn and the moment we arrived it was already dawn. I was taken to an underground cell where I met different races of children. There were elves, beast-men and even demons. Most of the races isolated themselves from the others. All the children kept away from the demon children. The number of demon children was 3. The other races' numbers were above 10. The beast race had 13, the elves 21 and 10 human children. Our Kidnappers seemed to be slave traders. They seemed to want to sell us to very powerful people as slaves so that they could make a lot of money. I wondered how they were going to make us cooperative. Immediately my question was answered. A demon walked in. This demon looked like a demon known as an enslaver. They usually have the ability to use a type of dark magic known as enslavement. The appearance of the enslaver scared me. I then remembered a type of magic my mother used to perform when we were out with her in the forest of monsters. She would usually bait the monsters into an open area and then used fire magic known as blaze. I then tried performing the spell my self. It took me a few tries to get it. The first, second, third and fourth tries failed. I was almost giving thinking that maybe I was not apt for the fire attribute  The fifth time the spell worked but the flames I created were out of my control. The flames ended up engulfing the whole building at this time all the captured children teamed up with me being their leader. We then escaped into the city.

We found an underground tunnel where we could lay our heads. At that time every one of us was starving. I decided that I would go out to find some food. I snuck into a mansion so I could steal some food for myself and the other children. I was then caught by Lord Harold. Lord Harold after hearing my story told me to take him to the children I was with. He then brought them back to the mansion where each and every one of them was given food. He then arranged for those whose parents were alive to be taken back. All of the human children were returned. 15 of the elf children were delivered back to the elf country where they would be taken back to their parents. 9 of the beast children were delivered back to the beast kingdom. None of the demon children was taken back to their kingdom since they had no families to go back to and since the other humans feared them.

Lord Harold decided to enrol us into the military academy. Because many powerful people opposed this we were allowed only to join the academy as long he trains us himself.

We trained for years and finally after graduating formed a unit under his direct command. The unit was responsible for covert operations and stealth missions like espionage. The unit was disbanded immediately after his retirement so many of us followed him to this village we currently reside where I am working as one of his maids.
