Chapter 83: The seed planted in stokes

Malarov's POV

I am almost there. I am going to climb to godhood. Now that Bermone has felt the wrath from above. I will reap my rewards.

For decades I have been working towards this. Ever since that fateful day that the gods contacted me or rather I saw her by the river. Her beauty was staggering with her silver hair, fair skin and bewitching face. 

Her ash greys seemed to pierce anybody they landed on and immediately steal their heart away. One could get lost in her entrancing gaze never to find a way out of them. 

The majesty of her wings as she slowly descended was breathtaking. Never had I seen such beauty. At the time her face was engulfed by a sorrowful expression and a drop of her crystal tears could be seen trickling down her beautiful face.

Why was such a majestic being wearing such an expression? I walked to her to try and find out what was the problem bothering her so I could help.

She looked at me blankly and with such a disdained expression as if I was an inferior creature daring to talk to a supreme being.

Maybe I was... Of course, I would not be able to help a goddess as a human but at least I wish she would let me try.

She sighed then in a cold but enchanting voice she said " The Celestial realm has deemed my area of... They don't appreciate the work I am doing."

Area? Maybe it is her region that is not up to standard...Wait is her region the stokes kingdom?

At the time I was barely nine years old but I think I was already in love. There and then I made the promise to turn this kingdom into a holy kingdom even if I will get killed in the process. I wanted to wipe away the tears of the beautiful creature before me and make them the last ever for her to shed.

Before meeting her I was barely religious, at some point I felt that the religion itself was a hoax meant to make us malleable subjects but after meeting her my mindset changed. I immediately made my focus our religion.

I spent half my life climbing the ladders so as to achieve the dream of turning stokes into a Holy kingdom ruled by the church and not by a king or duke. This would build up her region and if possible I would get to be promoted to godhood.

During my reign as a high priest, my goddess has visited me a few times.

The first time she visited me she came with an apparatus that she said could create holy soldiers. Of course, she is a supreme being so thinking so far ahead is to be expected of her. She had already noticed my plan of turning her region into a holy kingdom so she has provided a way for us to create our own knights to bolster our forces.

The apparatus was used to implement project paladin. While the compatibility rate was extremely low and the success rate was also relatively low I can say it did yield some fruit. The failures were used to strengthen the success we had.

While we got one powerful paladin, our army was still lacking. Then came the Idea of overthrowing and breaking down our old government and creating a new one.

The duke to say the truth was a good leader. He was leading this country towards an age of peace and prosperity. He reigned over his people fairly and justly. Through and through he was a good leader always putting his dukedom first but... he was not a follower of the church so he had to go.

What's more, is that he stole the only successful Paladin we had created!

While he was on the seat, making the dukedom abolish the rule of dukes would have been hard. So the best way would be to put his younger brother on the seat. The younger brother is most likely going to usher in a reign of tyranny and give us a good cause to abolish the rule of dukes and introduce a rule by the church.

Framing the duke for the death of his wife was a little bit heinous of me but am sure I will be forgiven for I am doing the work of the gods.

The duke was successfully slain and the younger brother soon took the throne. As expected he is ruling with such tyranny looks like I will not have to wait too long.

My goddess soon visited me again to ask for the passage of the demons through our borders. At first, I did not understand why she would want us to do something like that then I realised. Of course, she is my goddess and has thought further than me. She must have deduced my plan and wants me to use the demons to further escalate the situation of the duke and his people bringing us closer to a holy kingdom. She simultaneously also wants the demons to punish the Bermone kingdom for what they did a century ago. She really is the smartest being I have ever met...

Before she left, my goddess told me that one of these days the gods from the celestial realm will descend upon us and bring us salvation when all seems lost. I was promised if I continue doing what I was doing I would reach godhood.

Once I reach godhood I will finally be worthy of her and make the goddess mine.
