Chapter 1

Struggles and Sacrifices

Naruto's Mindscape

In the dimly lit sewer, changes started to appear rapidly as the black mark was embedded on Naruto. Myriad blue lines moved across the blonde's body, travelling at the full length of it.

The Ōtsutsuki made the entire process untraceable in their eons of practice as they have a very high-level Dōjutsu that can detect the subtlest of changes and don't want to be killed by one of their own for one thing or another.

And so from the many pipes in the sewer, the blue lines entered the corridor and took the form of the Kāma seal. From the black diamond rose a shadowy figure.

"Yes! At last my own Kāma. This is enthralling." The figure said, looking at his surroundings. He is almost black except for the white head protrusions he had that split in the middle of his face.

"What luscious chakra. I didn't sense this level of reserves from anyone his age. I-" he was interrupted.

"Who are you?" Kyuubi asked, inching closer to the bars of the cage.

"Ah, the mighty Kyuubi. If not for anything, you are useful for your chakra. If not for you, I can't imagine how Naruto turned out like the monster he was. If you have this much chakra, I can only imagine how much chakra this world's Juubi had and the fruit." He said in a casual tone. Kyuubi's eyes widened at those words.

"So you have absorbed the chakra in its place eh? Well, it's not all bad. I'll find a good use for you." The almost black Urashiki said with a happy smile.

'Juubi? Did he say Juubi?' Kyuubi shuddered.

"What's wrong, surprised? Heh. We are the creators of this world and we will take what's rightfully ours. Though at this point this has become a branch world." He continued, walking towards the cage and tried removing the sealing paper that read 'seal'.

"You are not Naruto to remove that. How did you get here?" A blonde man, who appeared from nowhere, asked, tightening his grip on the black Urashiki's wrist.

"Foolish pest, you dare touch me? Remove your hand off me." Black Urashiki said, pulling his hand out harshly.

"Yondaime, he is trouble. He time-travelled here and put that on Naruto." Kyuubi said, pointing to the diamond seal in front of the cage. Minato looked at the black diamond.

While Kyuubi closed his eyes as he didn't want to get affected by whatever Jutsu the Uchiha used on Naruto and the pervert as he wanted to keep all these memories. The first words this man said terrified him.

His old man never mentioned anything about his past or anything other than his mother who became the Juubi and how they were part of it. But how did this person know of it is his biggest question.

If he was able to come here, who else would come here and what the hell happened in the future? All these questions started bugging the lazy and curious fox.

'What is that seal? Is it some kind of chakra suppressor? It doesn't show any markings. It doesn't have any kanji.' Minato wondered.

"You noticed our incredible creation? You should know how useless you are now." Black Urashiki said as he laughed happily. Thinking that he won't be enough, Minato brought another person for help.

He started performing hand signs and with a drop of his blood, the cage opened, causing chains to form in the middle of it, taking the form of a figure. The cage closed immediately.

"I'm sorry to call you, Kushina. But I think I can't face him alone." Minato said, looking at the surprised redhead that stood in front of Kyuubi's cage

"I didn't think you modified the 8 Tetragram seal this much, Minato," Kushina said with a happy smile but her face turned sad at the implication.

"Does this mean-"

"Yes. This means we can no longer help Naruto." Minato completed, while the shadowy Ōtsutsuki observed the 2 in front of him in interest.

"How in Ōtsutsuki's name did you all get here? Only Kyuubi was supposed to be here." He yelled at the 2 humans in front of him. While the name didn't mean much to Minato and Kushina, it rang alarm bells in Kyuubi's head.

'How did he know that name? It's Tou-san's clan name. So he is one of them?' His eyes widened in surprise.

"You are the uninvited one here. We are going to get rid of you for Naruto." Minato said, his eyes and tone having an edge to them. Kushina gave a determined nod.

"Naruto? Do you mean the Uzumaki Naruto? I would laugh at you 2 trying to protect him. But considering his current age, I can understand. But let me tell you, the one who needs protection is us, the Ōtsutsuki. He was a monster even by our standards.

And as for the Uzumaki, they are the perfect hosts for us. Looks like the redhead beside you is one of them." His voice held respect for the first part and turned mocking at the end.

"Enough talk!" Minato said as he pulled out his Hiraishin kunai. Kushina made chakra chains and covered the cage as from her observation, the figure in front of them wanted to get to the Kyuubi and she wouldn't allow that.

They knew they had very little time and they wanted to finish this quickly so that this person won't cause any trouble for Naruto when their time is up. Though his words made them curious.

"Hiraishin Level 2: Raijin Kagura (Flying Thunder God Level 2: Lightning God's Dance," Minato said, throwing his Hiraishin kunai at the shadow figure. Understanding the time for talk is over, Urashiki declared his intentions.

"I, Ōtsutsuki Urashiki, refuse to be defeated by you filthy humans," Urashiki yelled in rage. He is weak. He knew that. Generally, when a Kāma is implanted on a vessel, it takes time to develop, changing the vessel's genetic code to the Ōtsutsuki who gave it to them.

This process takes at least a few weeks to start. Even a manifestation like this is unreal as the vessel's body needs time to get accustomed to the seal's presence on them. After the seal becomes familiar with the vessel, it starts the takeover process, slowly releasing small amounts of the Ōtsutsuki's power into the vessel's body to give them a good taste of the power and when the vessel is at its weakest, it activates, making them rely on the Ōtsutsuki power to get out of the situation.

And thus the vessel gets enticed by the power, and the takeover fastens, completely drowning the vessel in the Ōtsutsuki's power, allowing the Ōtsutsuki to assert control easily when their soul takes over the body through reincarnation.

This process takes years as changing the genetics of a person without killing them is not easy and needs both time and chakra to complete.

Momoshiki's vessel was very compatible and achieved months of progress in just weeks. He was surprised by Momoshiki's message but understood the practicality of it and jumped to make the Uzumaki Naruto his vessel.

But he never thought he had to face these filthy vermin to get what he wanted. Though sensing the amount of chakra the boy already has, it needs more time than usual as changing genetics means changing the chakra. He knew it was a small price to pay. He never thought the Yondaime, as the Kyuubi call him, is this smart man.

He managed to halt the progress of the process by drawing him out into what he assumed was the sealing chamber of Naruto's Mind. He knew he didn't have an option but to fight.

He tried materializing his favourite weapon. But it didn't form. Just a small piece of thick red chakra stick formed in his hand instead of his majestic rod and hook. Though disappointed, he had to adjust with this and he prepared for the fight.

Deep inside Naruto's Soul

'What is this disturbance? Did something happen?' A lone figure thought as he tried to get a good grasp of what was going on. He is a tall man with a kind face and a left bang hanging to the side of his face.

As he sat in a dark room, his other features remained hidden from view. Being the master of nature energy, he spread his senses across Naruto's body, bypassing all seals and marks.

He sensed a disturbance to be a small diamond seal on Naruto's left palm and started digging deep into it. He can't go any deeper than just a few blue lines which confused him for a second.

Though he is a soul using Naruto's body as a host, he is not an ordinary one. He is Asura Ōtsutsuki, the second son of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the sage of Six Paths. The Father of modern-day Shinobi and Ninshu.

Asura was with Naruto from the moment he was born nearly 13 years ago and the bond they share is deeper than what Naruto shares with Kyuubi, one of Asura's brothers.

Though Asura was in Naruto, he never tried to actively influence the Uzumaki as Asura believed in the freedom of everyone and everything. He only tried helping Naruto when he was in deep depression or on the verge of accepting defeat. They are part of their shared traits after all.

Even if he wants to, he can't influence Naruto as the addition of his father's chakra is needed to bring his chakra out as it is very deep in Naruto's soul. But just being in Naruto, he influenced Naruto by having a very strong and durable body, chakra and passive healing ability.

Asura followed the blue lines, they led him to Naruto's mindscape, the level where the Kyuubi is sealed in Naruto. He saw a strange figure fighting whom he concluded was Naruto's well-wishers.

The fire in the woman's eyes can't be mistaken for anything except a mother's love to protect her son. The determination in the man's eyes is the same as his father's; when he chose him over his brother. He decided to see how he could help and waited, unnoticed by anyone because of his subtle form.

With Urashiki

"You refuse to let me take over this body? Then do your worst." Urashiki said with a maniacal smile as he remembered something that these idiots don't know. Taking this as his cue, Minato used the second level of his Hiraishin, holding his kunai in a reverse grip, and attacked Urashiki at lightning speeds.

As the reflexes of the Ōtsutsuki are well-honed and Urashiki responded in time to avoid all attacks, he observed how they came too close to his comfort.

"You will not take over my Sochi!" Kushina yelled with motherly fury and one of the chains forming the barrier around the three of them hit the wraith Ōtsutsuki on his head. He was so surprised by the sudden hit, he lost sight of the Yondaime.

"8 Tetragram: Kai Fuin!" Minato said, slapping one of the strongest seals onto Urashiki. 8 Tetragram seal is strong enough to seal both halves of Kyuubi in Naruto and him. The seal Minato used is a mix of 2 different seals. Which needs a lot of Chakra and precision. Minato had both, but Urashiki just laughed at him.

"You think this puny little seal will suppress me? You can't suppress an Ōtsutsuki. We are not Bijuu. We are very much more. We are GODS!" Urashiki said as the seal dispersed into ink and the effect Minato thought didn't take place.

Asura sighed in disappointment. 'Looks like one more of the evil GODS.' He watched on.

Urashiki kicked Minato hard, making him hit the barrier Kushina made hard. "Minato!" Kushina yelled and moved to nurse him. Minato felt his chakra deplete drastically and his body vanish very slowly.

He can't leave things like this. He can't leave Naruto with this problem anymore. He already trusted Naruto to take care of Madara. But this new guy is far stronger and more knowledgeable than Madara.

'I have to end him, that's the only option. If I can't seal him, I'll dispense him like me.' Making up his mind, Minato turned to Kushina sadly.

"I'm sorry for robbing you of your opportunity to see and talk to Naruto, Kushina. But the man in front of us is far more dangerous than the Madara we saw that day."

"I concluded that. But anything doesn't seem to affect him. He is fast, durable and can't be sealed easily. His resistance to the seal is concerning." Kushina replied, sharing his thoughts.

"That's why I want you to use that seal," Minato said, looking into Kushina's eyes honestly.

"That seal? Do you really want me to use it, Minato? You know how dangerous it is and what it takes to use that." Kushina asked him seriously.

"I have enough chakra to last for a few minutes at best, Kushina. But if we do this, we get enough to defeat him and erase him with us. I don't want to leave this burden on Naruto anymore." Minato said with a sad and genuine smile. Kushina was taken aback by Minato's words. But nodded and started making hand signs.

Urashiki, though irritated, was interested in the conversation. As it helps him recover some chakra. Though it is not at the normal level he uses, he knows Imparting Kāma has its drawbacks and this is one of them. He didn't think he had to fight these two undying and unyielding roaches as soon as he started the takeover. And he implanted his Kāma on the monster he and the Ōtsutsuki feared/respected for his sheer chakra reserves to boot.

He doesn't have any source to take chakra from as he is locked in this stupid barrier. Even the chakra stick he managed to create couldn't break the barrier. If he had his hook and rod, he knew this barrier won't be a problem, but as it stands, he can't penetrate it.

While the conversation between the couple threw Kyuubi into a loop. 'What are they talking about? What gives them enough power to defeat a foe like him?' He racked his brain for a possible seal in his years of existence. He only drew blanks.

"Uzumaki Hijutsu: Shinigami Baishū (Uzumaki Hidden Jutsu: Deathgod Takeover)," she called, biting her thumb and smearing the blood across her left palm. A cold silence fell in the semi-destroyed sewer as all parties waited anxiously for anything to happen.

Kyuubi got a Deja vú as the same coldness fell upon him. It reminded him of the day he got sealed in Naruto. The day he lost half of himself. The day he didn't want to remember. When he looked up to see the Shinigami, there was none.

Instead, Kushina got grey horns and red prayer beads with a small tanto in her hands, her hair turning into a lifeless white. Not giving in to the excruciating pain the takeover is causing, she slashed her stomach open, but no blood came. Instead, a blue misty figure came out and merged with Minato. "I'm so sorry, Kushina. Truly sorry. But this is for Naruto." Minato said with a sad face. He saw a tear fall from her now red eyes with white irises.

Kyuubi understood what was going on. Kushina summoned the Shinigami, but as she is a soul herself, instead of Summoning, she allowed the Shinigami to take over her body and released if he felt it right, Minato's soul. He was flabbergasted by the scene in front of him.

How much will they sacrifice for their son? They jumped in his way when he was about to pierce baby Naruto, dying themselves to save Naruto and now let the Shinigami take over to protect Naruto from this walking, talking disaster of a Ōtsutsuki.

He was marvelled by their love for Naruto and was captivated by their determination to protect him no matter what.

Asura was very impressed by the parents' determination and love they held for his Transmigrant and decided to give them a helping hand. He very subtly released a small amount of his yang chakra into Minato's and Kushina's bodies, relieving the strain they were putting on their body.

He didn't want to influence the outcome of the fight as his father always taught of the balance of things, though not helping, in this case, means letting Naruto be taken over by this 'Ōtsutsuki' but he has to deal with Asura first to completely take over as they will technically be in one body.

That's another matter he didn't want to think about. And his influence was possible in this case as the 2 people in question were souls and he can affect souls because of his inherent Sage abilities.

While Urashiki on the other hand is not amused. He felt that thing that took over the pest's body. It's not human. It has this strange cold feeling that made him rethink his actions.

He jumped the first chance he got to mark and marked Uzumaki Naruto, the Jinchuuriki of Kyuubi. He knew that was a perfect choice and was sure of it just a moment ago. Now? Now he can feel something big is going to happen and has fastened his chakra recovery.

Minato and Kushina felt a bit relieved for some reason and they thanked their lucky stars for that. The strain they were putting on their shallow bodies by pushing the amount of time they had was hard enough, now the added strain of holding and getting back souls is super taxing.

And so Minato turned to Urashiki with never seen determination in his eyes as his hand glowed with a spiral sphere of chakra. "I'll end you now!" He said and vanished from Urashiki's senses.

Urashiki was a second too late to react as a large ball of chakra was slammed into his back, peeling layers of thick chakra that formed his shadowy body. "WhY yOu!" Urashiki's rage-filled scream couldn't do anything as something vile mixed with the Rasengan Minato hit him with.

"Blitz Rasengan," Minato proudly called.

"I did what you asked me, Minato. Now it's time for farewell." A Deep voice echoed through the destroyed sewer, surprising Kushina and Kyuubi, and shocking Urashiki as he slowly dispersed into the Diamond seal he came from.

It felt quite ironic to Urashiki. He is fighting in Uzumaki Naruto's mind for his body and yet, the blonde is nowhere to be seen. These 2 people, his 'parents' were unyielding and brought him to his knees at last.

He can feel it, his chakra slowly depleting. 'Guess I reached the limit of phase one.' He thought and disappointedly nodded at the irony. 'Now I know where Naruto got his persistence and stubbornness.' He can see the 2 qualities in the 2 in front of him.

As he knew this is not the last they saw of him and gave a satisfied smile. After all, it's very hard to get rid of an Ōtsutsuki.

"ThIs Is NoT tHe EnD fOr ME!" Were Black Urashiki's final words as his last traces merged with the Kāma seal. Kyuubi was still speechless at the sudden turn of events and stared at Minato, wide-eyed.

"Looks like it's the end for me," Minato said with a happy smile.

"I can feel it too." Kushina agreed, tears slipping from her hollowed eyes.

"I'm sorry that this has to happen, Kushina. But it's time for us to move on." Minato said and Kushina nodded in agreement.

Asura was greatly moved by the events that took place and gave the couple an invisible blessing and moved back to the inner level of Naruto's soul.

"Kyuubi, can you look after Naruto for us? This is as far as we can push." Minato asked the Tailed beast.

"We are going to be sealed in the Shinigami forever. So we won't be able to help Naruto anymore. Seeing today's ordeal, my Sochi needs your help more than ever." Kushina said, turning to him. One of her eyes returned to her normal purple while the other was still whitened.

"You 2, I'm speechless. I honestly don't have any words after what you did today. You have my respect." Kyuubi said after a moment of silence. The couple gave him a happy smile.

"If it comes to the matter of Ōtsutsuki or any of that lot, Naruto will have my support. As for my respect, he has to earn it. You don't want him to live on your glory, do you?" He asked with a smile.

"I'm sure he will grow up to be a great man and-"

"Gain your respect, Kyuubi. Protect him for me." Kushina said, giving him the purest and happiest smile he ever saw on her face.

"I'll do my best, Kushina. And Yondaime, wha-" before he can finish his question, Minato started to disperse and Kushina followed a moment later.

"Looks like it's time for us."

"So long, Kyuubi. 'ttebane!" They said as they vanished from the torn sewer and took the cold feeling with them.

'Hah. At least they managed to stop him for some time.' Kyuubi sighed in relief. He can't imagine what would have happened if Minato didn't appear today. He doesn't want to be a tool for anybody. He said the same to Madara twice already.

Coming back from those dark thoughts, he waited for his knucklehead Jinchuriki to wake up to see what changes the fight and the Kāma if remembered what the Ōtsutsuki called it correctly will do to him.
