Breathing hard I found myself crawling to the pond, I had just finished my third exercise of the day, climbing a tree and hanging on a thick branch to do head crunches, today was the third day since I had left the hospital, and also today I would start my combat training.

Arriving at the banks of the pond I stopped for a moment and unbuckled the weights that I had in my arms, one day after leaving the hospital my uncle Michael came to visit us and brought a plaque of appreciation for the services to the population and the kingdom and a kind of monetary reward.

I had used the money to buy, among other things, the weights that I now carried, they were quite expensive, after all, they were not like common weights, they could change the weight of whoever used them if magic was applied, the man who sold them to me said they were rune-enchanted by a very talented wizard, and while the entire reward along with a good part of my savings disappeared after that purchase, I had to say they were definitely worth it.

Leaving the magical artifacts on the grass, I entered the pond and floated quietly as I felt my whole aching body begin its restoration process.

And while I was just there listening to the sound of the water falling from the waterfall I thought about what I had tried to do so far without success, since the end of my fight with Jack I had not been able to create a single blade again.

This was probably because I had nothing to serve as "fuel" to create the weapons, I did not have the magic container that the rest of the natives of this world had, and it seemed that as a human from the DXDverse my magic reserves were extremely small, apparently, I only was able to awaken the Sacred Gear due to the strong emotions I experienced at the end of the fight.

That left me just one solution, I would have to train not only twice as hard, but I would have to work triple or quadruple to wake up my Touki and have it serve as fuel so that I could create swords.

If Sairaorg managed to complete an infernal physical training with only his willpower to awaken his Touki, I would make the most of my divine protection and do it in less time than it took him.

With that thought, I started swimming out of the pond again put the magic weights back on, and continued my training.

"Well, do you know why you are here?"

"To learn how to fight?"

"Exactly, and for that first I want you to show me what you know how to do, don't hold back boy, come to me with everything you have". My uncle said as he spread his arms and smiled defiantly.

At this time we were in the training arena that had the rune knight station in this city.

I smiled at him with the same enthusiasm, after all that personality I liked a lot, apparently, I was going to get along with my uncle, and if what he wanted was for me to go with everything I had, then I was going to do my best.

Starting with a sprint run, I quickly approached him with a fist pointed at his stomach, he just stared at me with a smile and in the same position with open arms, but when my limb was a few inches away from him he turned to avoid my blow, and what was worse, he took my arm, turned me along with his body and then launched me.

I rolled on the ground a couple of times until I regained my balance and ran back to him.

"Your movements are too obvious". He said taking a stance, his left fist raised to the front as if pointing at me while the other came to rest at the level of his stomach, his legs separated, the left in front and the right behind.

Just under five feet before reaching him I changed the direction of my movements trying to avoid his outstretched fist and enter one of his flanks, however, his eyes never stopped following me, he quickly turned his whole body, and once again, his fist was pointing straight at my face, it was… a little scary to say the least.

The surprise cost me a second where I did not know where to move, and my uncle took advantage of that moment, with his left fist blocking most of the view I had of him I could not see in time how he moved his other hand at full speed taking me by the arm.

When I reacted it was too late, I was already approaching him and his foot kicked my legs making me fall once more.

"In a real fight one of the most important things is what you let your opponent see, both of your abilities and his sight itself, with my fist in this position I can block most of the vision you have of my movements, but even if that happens, you must not freeze, one wrong step and you will be at the mercy of your opponent"

Wasting no time I rolled away from him a bit to gain distance and get up, launching a sweeping kick to his legs in the process, his expression unfazed in the slightest and he lifted his foot to avoid the blow, but that kick wasn't all I had.

Taking advantage of the momentum I turned and raised the other leg giving this time a heel kick directed at his ribs, this time I was able to hit him, but not in the way or with the power that he wanted, after all, he advanced one step and he caught my leg between his arm and trunk at the height of my knee.

I quickly sent a fist to his chest, but he was faster than me and once again his leg kicked mine making me fall, and he took a couple of steps back allowing me to get up.

"You will need something a little better than that to surprise me"

"Really? So how about this?!!" I yelled at him throwing myself at him with a shower of punches.

He just started backing up step by step. "Your speed is good, however, what I said before is still standing, the trajectory is too obvious, you just hit without thinking". He said with a mocking tone.

After that he took my right fist and turned as he knelt, pulling me and passing my arm over his head and on his shoulder, after that he pulled my limb and threw me over him, I fell to the ground once again like a sack of rice.

His finger went up as he moved it from side to side, looking at me with that mocking smile still on his face. "Tsk tsk tsk". He made that sound as if he was mocking me, then took a few steps back again letting me get up again.

A vein appeared on my forehead and in my arms as I clenched my fists with a clearly annoyed smile, I take back what I said about getting along with this guy, before today's training time is over I'm going to give him at least one punch in that annoying face.

And once again I ran to him.

1 hour and 30 minutes later

"Ah… damn… what the heck… was that". I said between breaths as he was lying on the floor looking up.

"Not bad at all, boy, your stamina, strength, and speed are nothing to laugh about, besides, as time went by you got more and more used to combat and you have slightly sharp reflexes, give me a few years and you will get much more out of all your physical abilities". My uncle said while he smiled, unlike me, he was still standing, only a very light layer of sweat covered his forehead.

It was pretty obvious that he never really took me seriously, what kind of monster was this guy? Every blow I made was dodged or intercepted so that it would always lose most of the power, and after that, he took advantage of the openings that resulted from my attacks and ended up making me fall, not once did he attack me directly.

"So what did we learn today?" He asked, bending down a bit to look directly at me.

"With the correct technique ... pure force ... can be ... neutralized". I said between breaths.

"Well said, that's all for today, I'll go ahead of me, you can rest there a couple more minutes, then go to the showers, I left a change of clothes for you to use in a suitcase in the dressing room, when you finish go home, we will meet again tomorrow here". He said goodbye to then walk away.

######

8 months later

"Come on, just focus, focus". I thought to myself as I was standing in the pond with the water reaching up to my waist.

The last few months I had been training to absolute exhaustion, not only did my exercise regimen get tougher, but with each passing month my uncle taught me new ways to fight, and even though he said I was improving pretty fast I was still unable to land a single hit, the best I managed was to brush against him a couple of times, his position as captain of the rune knights was not something just for show.

All that training had its fruits making me much stronger than I was before, however, I had not awakened my Touki yet, I knew it was silly to expect to achieve something like that in such a short period of time, but I still felt unhappy, or it had been until just over a week ago.

Along with my training routine, I would take 30 minutes a day where I was trying to create a sword, I was not going for anything super complex like a sword that would allow me to cut concepts or some nonsense like that, at least for now, something like that was so out of my league that wasn't even funny.

For now, the only thing I tried to create was a short sword without any special attributes, but the important thing was that until now every day it had failed, well, it would be more accurate to say that until 10 days ago I had failed on each occasion.

Because I had finally succeeded!! Well, maybe not so much, after all the blade I managed to make was full of defects.

The handle had protrusions that made it uncomfortable to hold, the blade was crooked, the edge was chipped and disappeared a few seconds after materializing, it was basically the equivalent of when Naruto tried to do the cloning jutsu before he graduating from the academy.

But even with this, I didn't stop smiling for the rest of the day, even when my uncle swept the floor with me my smile refused to leave my face.

It was a small step, that was clear, but a breakthrough was a breakthrough, and that small breakthrough was going to be the beginning that would take me to the top, or so I hoped.

That is how I decided to extend the practice time with my Sacred Gear from 30 minutes to 1 hour, every day I improved the visualization of the weapon a little and therefore also the appearance of my creations, each time being slightly better than the previous one, the increasingly straight blade, with a slightly better grip on the handle, with the guard a little firmer and the edge more sharpen.

Yesterday I was pretty close to making an almost decent sword, but in the end, I didn't make it in time and had to rush to my daily practice with my uncle, now I had this last attempt before I had to leave again, concentrating I stretched my hands out in front of me as if I was holding the weapon, I closed my eyes and began to visualize the sword part by part, the handle firm and with a hilt that adjusted to my grip, a simple guard like a T and the straight blade, sharp and without imperfections.

Slowly I felt how the space that I had left in my hands began to fill with the imagined object and the weight settled on my arms, opening my eyes I saw it, the first decent sword that I consciously created with my Sacred Gear, the smile I made was so big that I almost thought it was going to split my face.

"Yes!! I finally did it!! The 8 months of daily practice finally paid off!!" I found myself almost jumping into the pond while I couldn't stop looking at the sword I had made, I kept celebrating for a few more minutes until finally, I decided it was time to go to my training with my uncle, doing a test, I concentrated on the sword once more and with one thought it disintegrated into a multitude of golden particles.

#####

"So what is that so important that you wanted to show me?" My uncle asked with a rather curious expression, I couldn't blame him for that, after all, I always tried my best throughout the entire training and had never interrupted it, but this time I asked him to finish about 10 minutes early to show my skill.

I had decided for some time that when I perfected my skill I would show it to him and ask him if there was any way to add this to my fighting style, after all, if when we started I was a beginner in close combat, then my skill with the sword was non-existent at best, and perhaps with his help I could become a decent swordsman.

"Ok, just look at this". I told him taking the same position I had earlier in the pond, I closed my eyes and began to imagine the same sword in as much detail as possible.

"Hey, wha-". Michael tried to speak when his words were cut off, I slowly opened my eyes seeing the weapon that had just appeared.

"What do you think?" I asked with a somewhat smug expression.

"H-how is it possible? That was Re-equip magic? But you can't use magic at all". He asked quite shocked.

"I can't explain it fully since I don't even understand it myself, but this isn't magic, I just imagined a sword and then it appeared". I replied.

"This shouldn't be possible". He talked to himself while he looked at the blade, so I held it out for him to take, he hesitated a bit at first, but he ended holding it in the end.

"The bad thing is that I need to imagine every detail, it's a bit complicated, that's why I wanted to show it to you and ask you how good it was". I responded when he started swinging it.

"You really are a box of surprises Jean, do you know?" He asked me as he waved the weapon. "Well, if you trust me enough to tell me your secret then I'll do my best to help you". He declared concentrating on the weapon.

"Let's see, first, look here". She pointed a finger at the edge. "The blade is too thin in this part, you also have to correct the weight of the handle and the guard, they are too light, and also…."

He started to list every flaw he found, that didn't bother me at all, after all, the more things he found to improve, the much more perfect the result would be in the end, and my uncle knew that I thought in that way after all the time that we were training.

######

"So? You have something to say to me, young man?" My mother said, after showing my ability to my uncle, he accompanied me to my house, we had agreed that we would tell this to my mother together, but apparently, she did not like not being the first person to find out about something so important, and the worst thing was that when I looked at my side for help from my uncle, he had disappeared.

Are you kidding me, man? You are the captain of an organization that is in charge of maintaining order, if I make a mistake here, chaos will break out, don't run away with your tail between your legs.

"Umm… sorry?"

"What do you regret?"

"Didn't tell you that I can create swords, b-but I have an excuse, I mean an explanation". I quickly corrected myself.

"Ho? then I would love to hear it"

"I could do it a little over a week ago, and I wanted to tell you when I could make a good sword so that it would be a surprise". I excused myself trying to avoid any kind of punishment.

My mother looked at me for a few seconds and then sighed. "Okay, I'll let it go this time, but if you ever do something crazy that shouldn't be possible again I want to be the first to know, okay?" She warned her with a sweet but dangerous tone.

What the hell happened with the moms in this world? I thought only Miss Layla could do something like that, but all of them have the ability to be so intimidating?

"Y-yes, I definitely will". I responded with some fear, I was not surprised by what she said, after all, I was already a rather rare anomaly, I did not have a drop of magic, and even so I had a rare healing factor that was activated when I touched the water and now it could produce swords, once again, without ethernano container.

If I was honest I was a bit surprised that after they discovered my divine protection no one had appeared asking about it, someone like the government or worse, the church, after all, anyone who had seen medieval fantasy series knew that in this type of worlds there were almost always rare religious cults, and 99% of the times they were corrupt, genocidal, or the bad guys behind the scenes planning immoral things, luckily it seemed that in this world religion was not something very present.

"With that said, can I see it?" My mother asked changing her mood instantly, now she had stars shining in her eyes.

"What thing?"

"Your power, can you create a sword?" She said looking quite excited.

"Oh, sure". I replied, after all, she was my mother and the person I trusted the most, if I couldn't show my ability to her I won't show it to anyone.

Concentrating once more, this time I kept my eyes open as I visualized the weapon trying to polish off all the flaws my uncle had pointed out in my latest creation.

Slowly a golden glow began to gather in my hands, taking shape, molding itself the way I wanted, 5 seconds later the glow finally dissipated and a new sword rested between my hands.

"That was beautiful". My mother said with a smile on her face. "You are definitely a special boy Jean, doing things that should be impossible, not once but twice, I can't even imagine what surprise you will give me later on"

Hearing my mother's words I couldn't help but think about what she would say to me when I got touki or if I was ever able to use senjutsu.
