‘Anime’, ‘Dragon Prince’, ‘Silver Path’, ‘Zakute Umosa’…when the next day rolled around, these terms were all the rage. Enviso’s new anime section had set Inis alight with frenzy.

With the collective interest being as high as it was, inquiries naturally followed. Sent out in mass, people sought out anything they could find about the creators of the movie and instructional video.

Enviso, for obvious reasons, was the first target of these inquiries but with their creator privacy policy, those inquiring ran into a brick wall. However, many didn’t let this wall stop them. Those more connected spread their net far and wide and eventually caught wind of the ‘Silver Path’ name being passed around in the small nation of Zudrad.

Once at this point, it didn’t take long to find out about Ralf and the stories surrounding him. Hearing all that there was to hear, things like Ralf’s multiple personalities and the Silver Path’s supposed capabilities, those inquiring received quite the shock to their system.

Astounding, ridiculous and most importantly…terrifying.

It was at this point that most chose to avert their gaze, out of fear of getting wrapped up in something too hot for them to handle. However, while most people chose this option, many chose the opposite, some doing so out of desire while others did so out of a sense of duty.

An example of the latter was Sigurd Lund, the current Head of the Psionic Association.

‘The Silver Path...what’s the play here?’ The old man sat behind his desk with deep lines etched into his forehead as he pondered the baffling situation arising from Zudrad.

‘Ares? No, he wouldn’t do this. Micheal? Unlikely. Astra? No, I would have heard about it by now. Dimitri...’

Arriving at the infamous name, the Golden Fang Hunter’s face tensed up. Unlike the other people listed, he couldn’t readily arrive at a conclusion. To Sigurd and countless others, the World’s Shadow was an unfathomable unpredictable existence.

‘…probably.’

Sigurd sighed at the thought before getting to his feet. He circled the desk and headed to the large window and peered out. ‘If that’s really the case, we can’t let it simmer. Micheal is out of bounds right now, so the only one who can confirm the situation is me.’

The aged Ascendant’s golden Psi began leaking from his figure. The weight on his shoulders caused his aura to frazzle, but only momentarily. With a breath, Sigurd’s heart settled back down. His aura followed suit and was slowly reined back in.

[Reza, make preparations. I’m heading to Zudrad.]

After stating this intention, it wasn’t long before Sigurd was out of the Grey Wolf Academy’s grounds and on his way to the landlocked nation.

Swoosh!

Shifting leftward, Ralf avoided his opponent’s downward sword slash. As he did, he transitioned into a clockwise rotation. With Ice Walk beneath his feet, he was no different than a figure skater.

The action triggered Umeko. Knowing the danger of him gathering momentum, she rushed out her next attack. After missing, she transitioned into a rightward slash.

The lengthy Psi blade rushed to bisect Ralf but in the end, hit nothing but air. While maintaining his rotation, Ralf simply ducked under it, allowing the sword to sail over his head by mere centimetres.

Avoiding the attack, the spinning Ralf quickly shifted towards Umeko, then as he swung back her way, he conjured his Psi Odatchi and had it race towards her armoured torso.

Umeko jolted into action as she sensed the force behind the slash. Her Psi rushed to bolster her defences.

However…

*Scatter*

Just before impact, Ralf relinquished the Psi making up the sword, causing it to instantly break apart into a cluster of blue particles upon collision. Faking with his sword slash, Ralf rotated speedily to deliver a devastating back kick with his right leg, straight to Umeko’s lightly defended face.

Bam!

Struck, Umeko’s Psi armour caved in and a moment later, a familiar red hue coloured her being.

[And that’s it! It’s over folk,] Vostel’s voice boomed. [What a thrilling match to behold. Ralf Fawkes has done it. Match 2 of the Challenger Series completed.]

Match complete, Ralf promptly removed his boot from Umeko’s face. Once he did, he was greeted by her scrunched up expression. Ralf’s expression became troubled at the sight. While wearing a wry smile, he retrieved a candy from his pocket before thrusting his hand out.

Arm extended, he waited. He wouldn’t wait long. Irritated as she was, Umeko wasn’t going to miss out on becoming Gifted.

Ralf smiled then dropped the candy into his opponent’s hand below. “Good work.”

Offering this praise, he turned and strode towards his gate. There would be no stopping or pause this time, much to the disappointment of the audience who had been looking forward to hearing just about anything from his lips. Lamenting sighs were aplenty.

*Step*

Entering the corridor, Ralf’s mind replayed the match.

It was a one-sided affair, even more than the last one. This wasn’t to say Umeko and the others were worse than the previous ten - no, this wasn’t the case. Whether it be as individuals or as a team, Match 2’s batch was superior. Their union techniques and formations were quite impressive…too impressive actually.

Ralf had started the battle holding back just as he did in the debut match, allowing them to get into formation and such. But ten seconds into the affair, he understood that this decision could force him to reveal more than he was willing to.

It was then that his hand wrapped itself around his sword handles. From there, the flow of the battle reversed.

Blade Storm Dance.

Using both real and Psi blades, Ralf slashed away at his opponents. The technique was one that still troubled Ray to this day, so needless to say, Umeko and her fellow fighters had a hell of a time facing it.

Transforming into a whirlwind, Ralf treated his opponents’ figures as canvases and carved countless lines across their Psi armour with his stream-like slashes.

Ralf didn’t go for the one-shot kill strikes immediately - nor could he. The seconds-long accelerations that he did in his debut match weren’t feasible. The group would have ample time to create a strong enough shield to tank anything Ralf could throw at them.

So instead of this, Ralf chose to keep it moving, focusing on surface-level slashing attacks that would allow him to maintain a high momentum. And so, he slashed away.

The best defence was a good offence; tonight’s example would be further proof for this adage.

Ralf zigzagged from opponent to opponent speedily, not caring for where he slashed, but only that he did, He troubled the group to no end. Without Automatic Aura, the fighters were forced to manually repair these damaged parts, thus splitting their attention.

Ralf wasn’t just mindless slashing away either; he used fake-outs and played mind games as well. This all resulted in the group’s mindset change, going from how to defeat him to how to survive him. This switch greatly hastened their fall.

Through spins and twists, Ralf accelerated more and more, transforming his attacks from ‘light’ to ‘heavy’ and then to ‘lethal’. The group had to juggle between repairing the damage to their own armours and providing support for others.

Eventually, things got out of hand. And once overwhelmed, they made for easy pickings; Ralf zipped through the ring like a reaper, eliminating them one by one in quick succession until all were left bloodlessly crimson.

‘Much better than the last batch, but still not up to scratch… I should have saved the Blade Storm Dance for a later match haa, oh well, it’s whatever. The crowd loved it, and I’m sure mom did too.’

Thinking this, Ralf’s steps hastened. He was due a victory hug and wouldn’t be patient about it.
