After some time passed, the bitter emotions swirling in Violet’s heart saw themselves out. Her eyelids opened and she rolled over to her side. Her purple gaze surveyed the large space she called her bedroom. It could be compared to a penthouse suite, having both a sizeable bathroom and a minibar. With her spending most of her time here, she had filled the place with no shortage of things to pass the time.

Right now, she searched for one of these things to pass the time. Her nap being cut short had left her drowsy, but not drowsy enough to renter slumberland. She looked for an item or activity that would either wake her up fully or put her to sleep. With this in mind, her eyes gravitated toward her bookshelf. It was fully stocked, holding her favourite works.

‘Mmm…’

Her gaze hovered over a certain title with contemplation swirling in her eyes. Not for long though. Seconds later, her mind was made up…by her body. Decision made, she had her Psi float the book over.

It was titled ‘The Lady in White’ and was a famous - no infamous work, known to be one of the pillars of erotic fiction. The twenty-plus ongoing book series followed a secret agent with the codename ‘White’, known for her flawless record in solving every case she took. She went deep undercover and deep under covers. It was well written from its plot to its characters, praised by even prudes for its creativity and execution. Saying this, thirty percent of every book was essentially smut.

Violet rolled onto her back and had the book float in the air above her. Directing her minute electromagnetic force pulses accordingly, she opened the book to a certain section and began reading the passage. It was a familiar one, one that never failed to satisfy. Her memory and imagination quickly reconstructed the scene in question.

“Aa aa aa…”

Her breathing turned uneven and her body began heating up.

‘...she had done many things in her long career but this was a first. Lisa was used to being a solo act so sharing the stage coloured her with mixed feelings. But this quickly changed once the performance started. After a cheeky wink, Ange moved on her with the vigour of a parched desert dweller who had just spotted an oasis. Her legs spread and the brunette’s face crashed into her crouch. The impact provoked a moan from Lisa’s lips, and a light chuckle from Andrew beside her, who was attended to by Thoria with a similar frenzy. After the initial impact, Ange’s tongue thrust forth, looking to quench her carnal thirst…’

“Aah aah aah…”

As she imagined the scene, moans left Violet’s lips. They grew in intensity and volume as time passed. At the same time, her hands began moving across her body. Her left hand cupped her ample breast and began massaging while her right hand slid down to her nether region. Slipping under her black underwear, her fingers began moving in practised motions. Her Psi joined in on the act a second later. The minute force pulses were soon stirring her insides. All the while, she continued to imagine herself in Lisa’s position. She writhed on the bed as her being was overwhelmed with pleasure.

Minutes later, she reached her desired destination, ending with the last word of the scene…as usual. Waves of pleasure crashed into the princess’ being on repeat, washing away her previous negative emotions as they did. Masturbation was her favourite pastime, she confirmed to herself in the aftermath, now refreshed and satisfied.

Violet looked at the book still floating above her. Just like pain, pleasure had the power to disrupt a psionic’s control. But also like pain, with enough practice, this flaw could be improved to the point of nonexistence. Needless to say, Violet was flawless in this regard.

After making a mental note on where to get on/off next, Violet floated the book back to its place on the shelf. Sprawled on the bed, she shut her eyes and bathed in the last ripples of pleasure. She felt her consciousness sinking again but instead of welcoming the trip, she snapped her eyelids open and jolted out of bed. While tired, she couldn’t stand being dirty, for too long that is, and so, moved to clean herself up.

But first, the room. The large windows were opened and using much stronger EM force pulses, she cleared the air. After whipping up a whirlwind, she headed to the shower. A few minutes and a change of clothes later, she was finally ready to reenter slumberland.

Body glowing from the residual heat, she slipped herself under the white blanket and surrounded herself with pillows, looking to sleep rather than nap this time. She shut her eyes and let her consciousness drift. But as it was moments away from boarding the Sandman’s carriage, a certain sound rang in her room, returning her to the real world.

It was her bell. Her room was isolated, existing at the end of a long one-way corridor. To gain entry, one had to activate an ogin device fifteen metres from her doorway and wait for Violet to respond. Privacy was very important to her, so of course, foreign Psi wasn’t allowed to enter her room without her express permission.

Violet’s face contorted. She had completed all her mandatory training and lessons and even asked to be left alone until dinner, so the interruption drew her ire. Still, annoyed as she was, she chose to respond. She would be out of this place by tomorrow, so could endure one more inconvenience.

Her Psi rushed out of the room to shoo away whoever it was. But upon capturing the figure in her Psi Scan, she changed her mind. The visitor noted her observation and formed the words ‘Can I come in?’ with his Rank 7 Telekinetic Psi.

‘Give me a minute,’ Violet responded with, forming the words with her purplish lightning before springing out of bed. . Getting ‘take your time’ in response, she moved to become proper. She added one more layer of clothing to her person, concealed what needed to be concealed around the room, and then made her way to her drawing table. Once there, she gave the go-ahead to the visitor beyond the door.

The visitor did a final cheek pat to psych himself up before proceeding forward. His Rank telekinesis opened up the large double doors and he strode in.

“Dear sister,” Cloud entered with, a sunny smile hanging from his handsome face.

“Cloud,” Violet returned.

Her reply was lacking in enthusiasm when compared to Cloud’s, though, he didn’t take it to heart and approached with unfaltering steps. She was seated at a low table that the duo might mistake for a kotatsu upon sighting. There was no heating mechanism, but with Violet’s lightning orbs scattered about, there was no need for it.

“Ah, how envious. I wished I could do that too.” Cloud took a seat opposite her. “Send a few my way little sis, will ya.”

Violet obliged, all the while keeping her eyes on the blank page below.

“Thanks, Violet aaah...heavenly.” Cloud’s cheeks turned rosy at the radiance. “Hm, heavenly but not perfect…there, perfect.” He had his Psi wrap around the orbs, then tweaking his heat absorption barrier’s settings, he lowered the heat to his ideal temperature. Satisfied, he turned his attention back to his quiet sister. He wasn’t too disheartened by it. She had always been on the quiet side…unless her interests were brought up.

“This is great and all but don’t overdo it okay, you might get a heatstroke…Raiken knows I would have by now.”

“Mm, I’ll be careful,” she said, eyes still not leaving her page.

“Good good,” he nodded. His eyes followed her pencil which had begun to move across the page. “Oh, is that the new anime style?”

“Yes. I’ve taken to it and been trying my hand at it.”

“Mm…not bad, you’ve already got the hang of it. As expected of my sister, so talented.” Cloud wasn’t just saying this to butter her up, he truly was impressed. Her artistic prowess and aspirations were things long known to him. A proud smile hung from his face as he watched her work.

Violet’s elegant face twitched at the praise. Her lips quivered to reply but Cloud’s words beat her to the punch

“Hey, got any complete drawings? I want to see some. Mesina has been getting really into anime lately and I want to brag.”

Violet nodded then floated over a folder from the corner of the room and placed it on the table before Cloud.

“Thanks. Now, let’s have a look,” he said, reaching for the folder with an anticipating smile on his face. “Oh mmm aaa mmm oo aaa…” The prince’s face turned into a battlefield of conflicting emotions. It twisted and tugged, unsure of what expression to settle on. ‘I definitely can’t show these things to Mesina, definitely not,’ he thought with a bitter smile.

The drawings weren’t bad, in fact, they were very well done, following the instructional video’s techniques to a tie. It was the direction and subject matter that raised brows. It was disturbing; if it wasn’t too sexual, it was too gory…at least for Cloud’s liking.

‘...a human upper half and horse lower half, a naked lady with snakes for hair and snake-like bottom half, another naked woman with four breasts and four arms…Old Gods or fictional creatures? I hope. If they’re created from her imagination alone - ah…that would be way too scary. Haa…’ He shook his head as he fought off the urge to sigh out loud. ‘This isolation didn’t do you any favours sister, you’re even more twisted than before. Or are all artists just naturally twisted? No. Mesina dabbles in art and she’s nowhere as bad. You’re a special case, definitely.’

He focused on her expression. It was calm and elegant, a total mismatch for the type of person that would put such ideas on a page. He smiled wryly. ‘Sister, I pray for your future lover.’

“Don’t like it?”

Cloud was snapped out of his thoughts at the question. “No no, I love it, seriously, they’re amazing, really.”

“...I see, so you love it…you show it in a strange way,” Violet said after a few seconds of silence, her voice a tad softer than before.

“I do…sorry,” Cloud responded, his voice also lower than before. Silence followed the exchange. Not wanting it to linger, the prince grasped at his fragmented thoughts to find his next words.

“Strange…strange doesn’t mean bad. I mean your drawings are plenty -ah, never mind that…did you hear?” Cloud quickly dropped the topic as he captured his sister’s eyes twitching.

These words successfully derailed Violet’s ire. Biting at the question, she paused her pencil’s trajectory and asked, “What about?”

“The Siver Path.”

Violet jolted at the mention. Her eyes flickered and her gaze shifted upward, meeting her brother’s for the first time.

‘That’s better,’ Cloud thought with delight as he captured his reflection in her eyes. ‘I knew this would hook her, well worth it.’ Putting such thoughts to the back of his mind, the prince continued.

“I heard through the grapevine that a member or Pather as they are called, is enrolling in the Grey Wolf Academy this year.”

“Really?” Violet asked, her face beaming.

Cloud smiled. “Yep yep, I got leaked the news from one of my Academy sources. Word is, he’s some hotshot that was personally recruited by Sigurd Lund. Currently, he’s the only known Pather that can be contacted. His move is a big deal, people from all over are keeping tabs on him.”

“What’s his name?” After taking a breath, Violet calmed down and shifted her gaze away once again.

Cloud was saddened by the act but didn’t hold it against her. He fixed his collapsing expression and continued. “His name is…tricky,” the prince said, rubbing his chin.

Violet tilted her head. “What do you mean? Do you not know?”

“No, we know…it’s just confusing. He supposedly has three different personalities and each one has a name. There’s Ralf and Ray, and their fusion, Silver…I know I know, it’s bizarre,” Cloud said, spotting the confusion that surfaced on his sister’s face. He was tempted to add ‘almost as bizarre as your drawings’ but quickly held his tongue.

He sighed. “There’s a lot about him that remains vexing. The rumours and stories around him are ridiculous, nonsensical even.”

“Mm, sounds interesting.”

“To me and you both, sister,” Cloud nodded. “You’ll be heading to the same Academy and from the looks of it, you’ll be classmates. Everyone’s dying to know more about him, me included, so if you happen to pick up any information on him, send it your brother’s way.”

“You want me to be a spy?”

As she asked, Violet’s cheeks couldn’t help but redden as thoughts of her previous activity came to mind. The prince saw this but didn’t connect the dots, thinking it was the surrounding heat’s doing. Oblivious, he moved to reply.

“Hardly,” Cloud shook his head with an amused look. “You’d make for a terrible one. I’m not asking for anything proactive, just passive. If he reveals something interesting and you’re in earshot range, please store it in your memory bank and deliver it to me at a later date. As is, The Silver Path is a mystery…its supposed existence has made a lot of people, myself included, very anxious.”

“I see,” Violet said after a few seconds. “I’ll see what I can see and heart what I can hear and keep it in mind.”

“Thanks, sis.”

Conversation died down following the exchange and the pair entered a lull. Cloud didn’t mind. Compared to the silence at the beginning, he was much more comfortable letting this silence drag on. He slumped himself on the table and shut his eyes, enjoying the lightning orb’s heat.

The gentle breeze entering through the large windows, Violet’s pencil moving across the page and the intermittent sounds of bliss escaping from his lips were the only sounds to be heard for the next ten minutes.

“Violet,” Cloud broke the silence. “You all packed up and ready to go?”

“Yes.”

Cloud’s face turned wry at the emotions embedded in her simple utterance. “Good to hear.” The prince pushed himself up and then stood up. He stared at her silently as he contemplated his next words. His lips quivered to speak but before they could, he pacified them.

‘Bringing that up now will just end in disaster,’ he thought, shaking his head slightly.

Before coming here, he had the idea to propose a family meeting. Violet was set to leave tomorrow. She wouldn’t be returning to Saures for at least a year, possibly forever if her current emotions held strong. Cloud didn’t want his father and sister to leave on a bad note but assessing the two as they currently were, it was clear, that the bad blood between them wouldn’t be washed away on this day.

He sighed at the fact.

“Cloud?”

The prince shrugged. “It’s nothing. The flight here was pretty long so I’m worn out, is all. You’re in for a long flight yourself, sis. The Hunter Academy huh, had thoughts of going there myself when I was younger, no point in going now though. Excited?”

“More than excited,” Violet said, her voice conveying her words in spades.

“I see, that’s great,” Cloud said, genuinely happy for his sister. He began circling the desk and continued. “Some time away did my head and heart good, I think it will do the same for you. I’ve heard many good things about the Academy’s environment. The training is the toughest part, but for you, it’ll be a cinch. You can just focus on enjoying yourself in whatever way you choose, make friends, make enemies… maybe even find yourself a lover as I did. Mesina really screwed my head back on properly.”

As he ended his words, Cloud found himself right beside Violet. She was motionless, gaze still low. From his angle, her expression was hidden from view.

*Plop*

“Ah?” Violet jolted as her brother’s palm landed on her head and began ruffling.

Amused by her reaction, Cloud’s lips curled up. Having his fill after a few seconds, he relented. Removing his hand, he met with Violet’s annoyed glare.

He didn’t falter at the expression; the smile on his face only widened. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that face, Vile.”

“Hmph,” she snapped her head away. “You’re so annoying,” she muttered as a trace of a nostalgic delight echoed in her voice.

Cloud smiled as he caught it. Satisfied with what he accomplished, he turned away. “Sister, I’ll be on my way. Going to get some rest, you should too. Will see you off tomorrow.”

Saying this, Cloud moved to the doorway. But not even two steps into his journey and he was suddenly stopped.

“Violet?” He turned back and stared at his wrist which had suddenly been latched onto.

In contact, he could feel the light tremors her body was giving off.

Violet was slow to answer. After taking a breath, she let go of his wrist and retrieved a page on the table before thrusting it his way. “Here, take this, for Mesina.”

Cloud obliged and stared at the image staring back at him. It was a portrait of him but in anime style. His heart warmed at the sight. ‘She did this when I was resting, haa, this sister of mine is too adorable.’

“Thanks, little sis,” he said with a grin before giving her a second round of ruffling.

Violet stayed silent amidst it as a small smile crept onto her face.

Ignorant of this, Cloud ceased his action and turned and once again strode off. “See you, sister.”

“See you…brother,” Violet said after a few seconds.

The address caused the prince’s steps to falter. He recovered after a second or two and continued onward, now with a dazzling smile on his handsome face.

When he was gone, a sigh escaped Violet. She got up and plopped herself back onto her queen-sized bed. Her eyelids soon shut and a pleasant slumber awaited her.

Tomorrow came, and as planned, she left Balmore and then Saures. Her destination: the Grey Wolf Academy.
