Ralf glowed where he stood. The panel directly above him contributed to the effect, but really it was the fresh taste of victory that truly made him shine. The flavour was sweet as always but also brief as always. Swallowing down the last of it, the Transmigrator shattered his stillness. He turned with a coat flap and headed for the stands.

As he passed by Roxy, he caught the words, “We would’ve won if you hadn’t cheated,” leaving her lips.

“Maybe, who knows, the future is uncertain after all,” was all Ralf had to say in response to that notion, though nothing in his tone suggested that he believed the matter was truly up in the air. The arrogant light swirling in his gaze revealed his true feelings clearly. Roxy and Adrian clenched their fists and jaws at the sight but didn’t say anymore.

Ralf continued on his way. He was met with cheers and praise from his fellow students, well most of them. A small portion of the gathered students looked at him with unkind eyes, with a certain grey-eyed youth’s gaze being especially venomous.

Arriving at Lane and the others’ sides, Ralf immediately sought his rewards. He set his sights on the former assassin first. “My victory hug, make haste.” Lane complied without needing a second reminder.

After a few seconds, the pair separated and Ralf turned to Skye. The air Mimc quickly faulted before the Transmigrator’s intensity. Not dallying, he too hugged Ralf.

Ending the embrace a few seconds later, Ralf then turned to Charlotte. He was pleasantly surprised to find her already on her feet, and then regularly surprised upon capturing her face.

It was beautiful, of course, but more than that, it was radiant, even more so than Ralf’s post-victory face. Her lips curled up to form a dazzling smile while her eyes glittered with bright lights, all shining with unparalleled excitement.

“A merchant always makes good on a deal, and you’ve definitely earned it, mister Combat Master,” Charlotte approached Ralf while saying. Her steps were steady and her voice sounded with its usual cool tone; still, she wasn’t fooling anyone into thinking she was anything less than ecstatic.

She was…and how couldn’t she be? The Onic Master had found exactly what she had so long desired. She had come to the Academy to scratch the itch called chronic boredom that had been plaguing her for the longest time. And now, in Ralf, she saw someone who could do it, someone who could relieve her of her symptoms - no, not could, he had already done it. Her racing pulse and the energetic thumping of her heart confirmed this fact for her.

Overwhelmed by her newfound feelings, Charlotte briefly lost herself in the heat of the moment. At the last leg of her journey, she sped up and all but crashed her body into Ralf’s. The pair collided with some speed, but neither party suffered on account of Charlotte’s bountiful… ‘airbags’.

Following the squishy impact, the Onic Master moved to envelop the Transmigrator. She didn’t shy away from Ralf’s touch and pressed her body right up against his, wrapping her arms tightly around his backside and even pressing her cheek against his.

‘Oh, he’s much softer than expected,’ Charlotte’s eyes flickered at the discovery.

With the speed and strength he showcased during the match, the Onic Master had expected to hug a humanoid rock, so she was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn’t the case. While nowhere as soft as Violet’s embrace, Ralf’s was nevertheless pleasant.

Ralf’s muscular form, the residual heat his body radiated, the combination of his pleasant natural scent and the faint smell of sweat that doing battle had left on his person; Charlotte shut her eyes and relished in the many sensations reaching her.

Meanwhile…

‘Ah…’

Where Charlotte’s thoughts were racing at the speed of lightning, Ralf’s had ground to a halt.

He was taken aback by Charlotte’s ‘forwardness’. He hadn’t expected this level of hug and it knocked him off balance, both physically and mentally. He recovered at once in the outside world, but internally, he was still reeling.

It was only when Charlotte threw out a telepathic link and connected to his mind that his mental cogs began spinning again.

[This is what you wanted, right…enjoy it while it lasts.]

At the words, Ralf quickly regained his bearings. [Will do.] Saying this with a small smile, his idle hands remained idle no more. He wrapped his arms around her as well and then with shut eyes, appreciated her body’s warmth and ample softness.

It felt good…really good.

Pressed up against her, Ralf was repeatedly reminded of his sexual orientation, and it caused his thoughts to go from wholesome to another direction pretty quickly. Sensing said direction, the Transmigrator immediately acted to prevent it.

The White Asura’s Perfect Control ability came in clutch. With a single thought, Ralf’s blood was made to travel down different roads. Disaster averted, the Transmigrator, wise as he was handsome, continued to enjoy the hug. The embrace went on for a few more seconds, reaching the ten-second mark before Ralf opened his eyes and let his hands fall to his sides.

Charlotte received his signal but held on for a few moments more before pulling away and stepping back.

The hug gave her enough time to firmly retake the reins of her emotions, and now, the overflowing excitement she exuded previously was replaced by her usual calm and poise. She looked to Ralf and couldn’t help but show a cheeky smile as she noticed the tinge of crimson that now adorned his cheeks.

[Well?] she asked with a smirk.

[It felt great,] Ralf admitted with a smile telling of both victory and defeat.

[Glad to hear. Continue to impress and I’ll reward you with more hugs in the future.]

[Deal.]

Charlotte showed an approving look before nodding. She then snapped the telepathic link, ending the meeting of the minds.

In the background, sounds of teeth gnashing and fingers cracking could be heard. Ralf glanced around and met with a plethora of gazes.

While waiting for Gerard to be done with whatever he was doing, the crowd of students, well most of them, had passed the time by focusing on Ralf and the others. What they witnessed…displeased, in a big way.

Ralf was given the stink eye by half of the room and nearly all the boys, who burned in the flames of jealousy and competitiveness. The goodwill he had earned with his stellar performance fell sharply after his hug with Charlotte. Ralf saw this and mentally smirked, riling up people had become his favourite hobby of late.

He turned away from the crowd, putting them behind him, as he moved to complete his original intention. The Transmigrator’s gaze swept rightward until it landed on a certain princess, his intentions obvious.

Violet had already been looking in his direction, so met his gaze at once. At first, she showed confusion, even tilting her head, but not a second later, she caught on.

Enlightened, her eyes flickered in surprise. She pointed to herself and confirmed her thoughts. “You want…a hug from me too?” she asked in a disbelieving voice.

“That I do, more specifically, a victory hug,” Ralf made it a point to clarify as he orientated his body toward Violet. “What do you say, princess?”

“I…” Violet’s speech faltered as she stared at Ralf’s desire-filled eyes. Overwhelmed by them, she shifted her gaze to her knees, where her hands could be seen gripping them tightly.

Ralf noted her behaviour and instantly switched gears. He (sadly) understood that not everyone was as touchy-feely as he was. and wouldn’t force the issue if it made others uncomfortable.

“You don’t have to do it if you don’t wa-”

Ralf’s words cut off as he captured Violet’s vigorous headshake.

“It’s not that,” she voiced under her breath. “It’s not that,” she repeated, this time a bit louder. After a final squeeze of her knees, Violet made her way up. Her movements were sluggish yet firm in their intention.

‘That’s right, I came here to experience new things, I can’t run away here…also,’ the princess’s gaze captured Charlotte’s face through a gap in her bangs, ‘she seemed to like it, so it can’t be too bad. Yeah.’

Having such thoughts, Violet gathered her moxie and put strength into her limbs. She approached Ralf slowly but surely, drifting silently to his front. Her purple sights which initially pointed towards the ground raised with every step and by the end, her gaze and Ralf’s were perfectly level.

Ralf’s face tugged in various directions as he captured the princess’s expression; it was way too tense and serious given the situation. Veteran soldiers heading to war sported less resolve than Violet was currently displaying. It was a comical sight…Ralf certainly thought so, as he did his all to not burst into laughter. His all proved enough. After successfully suppressing the desire, Ralf spread his arms.

Violet took his invitation and closed in. The pair embraced. As far as hugs went, it was ordinary, be it in tightness or duration. Still, ordinary as it was, it felt great on Ralf’s end, and even the princess, after some initial rigidity, found herself enjoying the sensations reaching her.

Ralf didn’t want to overstay his welcome, so removed his hands after five seconds, thus ending the hug.

“Thanks, princess,” Ralf said, flashing a satisfied smile.

“Ah, yes,” Violet said shyly as her gaze once again dropped to the floor.

The sight of her flushed face in the aftermath devastated the stands, no different than a bomb going off, as a wave of agitation spread among the students. Meanwhile, in the blast zone, Lane looked on blankly while the twins both pointed impressed smiles at Ralf, who turned smug.

*Clap*

The commotion died down quickly as everyone registered the loud sound.

“Okay students, attention.” Gerard’s voice sounded from below, shifting the collective focus from Ralf’s group to him.

The Basic Psi Combat instructor had been communicating with someone via the telepathic network since Ralf’s match concluded and had just finished up his conversation.

“Sorry for the delay, I had to discuss some important matters with my colleague. Anyways, enough about that, let’s talk about what we’ve just experienced.”

Gerard gave his words some air as he took a breath himself. “This has been quite the session, hasn’t it? Frankly, I have no words. What transpired here is far from the usual. That said, I wouldn’t prefer it any other way. I got to experience some rather interesting things...and people.”

Saying this, his eyes drifted to a few individuals, with Ralf of course being one of them.

“Every experience is one to learn from, and I’m sure there are a number of valuable lessons each of you can take away from your time spent here…not just the students, but everybody,” Gerard emphasised as he gave Adrian and Roxy a look. “Take your time to digest and process things, and then reflect and grow. Repeating this process over and over will allow you to become most formidable, not just as a fighter, but as a person.”

Gerard let his words echo around the room for a few seconds before clapping again.

“Okay, that’s it for my words of wisdom. I’m sure everybody wants to rush out the door by now, so I’ll stick to the important announcements,” he said and watched the students’ faces flicker with gratitude.

“There are no surprise Events planned for today, so you can rest easy if you were concerned about that. From now until five, you can do whatever you want, well within the scope of the rules, of course. I’d suggest using this free time productively, and strongly suggest getting familiar with your Student Guidebook. Once again, you all will be meeting with your Personal Advisors at Prime, the student hotel at five, sharp. Don’t be tardy.”

The Basic Psi Combat instructor paused his words to let the point stick, before continuing seconds later.

“The meeting’s length varies, but usually, it won’t last past an hour, barring a few exceptions. Once you’ve finished up, I’d suggest you hit the sack immediately.”

Heads tilted in mass at the advice. Gerard noted this and quickly enlightened the ignorant students.

“Tomorrow, from 8 am to noon, every one of you will be undergoing the Comprehensive Assessment Test or CAT as we call it. You can ask your PAs for the in-depth details, but in short, the entire scope of your abilities will be measured and documented, from your mental abilities to your physical abilities to your psionic abilities. The CAT is your first opportunity to earn credits. The higher your scores, the more credits you receive, and the more credits you have, the better your quality of life will be. That’s why I suggest you head in early and get a good…and long night’s rest, you’ll definitely need it.”

The Basic Psi Combat instructor showed an approving look as he saw his advice being taken seriously by most of the students.

“Okay, that’s everything I needed to inform you o- oh, one last thing. For those of you wanting medical attention, visit one of the many infirmaries around campus. The closest one is northwest of here, half a kilometre away. They’ll treat you without the need to pay any credits.” he clapped a final time. “That’s about it, everyone dismissed.”
