Where did he stand among them?
Since meeting them, this question had always been at the back of Ralf’s - the duo’s - mind.
Now, they were about to find out.
Ralf stopped at Lane’s training session first. Having already observed the other in action once before, nothing ended up surprising. That said, the duo were nonetheless impressed by the former assassin's combat prowess, especially his swift use of vanta techniques. Lane was a formidable fighter.
Taking less than five minutes to reach this conclusion, the Transmigrator kept it moving, his next stop, the Mimics. They were all stationed relatively close by, each training in a hall identical to the one used for the Basic Armaments class earlier that day, and not far from it too. After descending the elevator for the second time that day, Ralf roamed until he found Skye’s training hall.
The first thing that stood out was the air Mimic's PA. Instead of being the same sex as their assigned student, as he had seen for everyone so far, Skye’s PA was female, and a beautiful one at that.
Lovia was the young woman’s name. The twenty-year-old was petite and adorable, from her clothes to her mannerisms. From the balcony, she observed Skye with rosy cheeks and eyes twinkling with bright lights.
Ralf smiled wryly at the sight, even more so when he followed her gaze to Skye, who was clearly eating it up. The Academy had done their research on the air Mimic and knew how to motivate him.
“Oh? Brother, what’s up?" Skye asked, noting the Transmigrator's presence. "To what do I owe the honour? Come here to watch me train or something?"
"The former, yes. I wish to see you in action, Skye, to see what the man I call brother is truly capable of. What do you say?"
The air Mimic flashed a raring smile and slammed his fist into his palm. "I'm all for it. Lovia, is that fine with you?"
"Yeah, it's fine. As long as it's just watching, there's no problem," the PA replied, face showing a bright smile.
"Excellent, then let's get this show on the road."
Following Skye's agitated words, the Assistants present moved to finish their final preparations. Given the air Mimic's versatile power set, many more Assistants than normal were required to oversee his training sessions.
Ralf got comfortable against the wall and shut his eyes. Observing Skye with naked eyes wasn't possible, well it was, just not for long, and so, like Lovia nearby, he had to view Skye through the lenses of the many Assistants present.
[Ready?] Skye asked for confirmation.
[All clear, go ahead,] Lovia responded.
[Ready?] he asked again, this time his question directed to another.
[Fire away, brother. Start off with a bang.]
The air Mimic smirked and fell into a solid stance, hands at his chest mere inches away from clapping.
[Since you wanted it, you'll get it. Ultimate technique:...Blazing Heavens!]
Roaring the technique's name, Skye's palms met and dazzling destruction followed. Psi exploded out from his figure, before taking every form it could and within a second, the whole venue was ravaged by cutting winds, blue flames, explosions and lightning snakes, all made to swirl around him to form a deadly multilayered vortex.
[[Whoa...]]
To Ralf's reaction, Ray had no words, himself awestruck.
There was no doubt in their minds on whether or not they could withstand the technique, they couldn't, not even for a second. There were just too many elements to guard at once.
The duo watched in awe and entrancement as the multi-coloured storm continued to rage, their heart beating loudly in their chests. Taking in Skye’s beautifully destructive feat, their mental image of him couldn't help but update. They had expected him to be powerful given his Mimic status, but this blew them away.
Skye relented after ten seconds, quickly clearing the room to capture the expected look of shock and awe on his brother's face. He wasn't left wanting as Ralf delivered just that.
A smile rushed onto his face at the sight. Usually, he only cared to impress the fairer sex, but impressing Ralf at this moment had scratched an itch in him he didn't know he had. Now, aware, he wished to continue scratching and thus, continued.
He did a few more big and special moves, most notable of the bunch were his various elemental tornadoes and his plasma orb; the latter of which was his most dangerous offensive technique.
The plasma was created by high-speed air compressed to the size of a volleyball. Using it for melee purposes was an option, but not one Skye ever entertained.
Instead, it was meant to be fired out like a projectile. Upon colliding with something or Skye releasing the outer shell, the sphere would then rapidly expand to dozens of times its original size and vaporise everything within with its intense heat. It was essentially a low-grade grendo bomb.
Following the flashy stuff, Skye went through his basic techniques and movelist at Ralf’s request.

"I’ll make you a fighting game character as well, but I’ll only add in things that you can do in real life, so the same thing I did with Lane's character"
Skye beamed at the words and gave it his all, fighting the various Psi constructs summoned to battle him more conscious about style than ever.
He donned his wind armour and air sphere, and zoomed around the training hall, using both tornadoes and explosions to accelerate himself to staggering speeds, all the while, releasing devastating attack after attack at his surroundings.
Ralf spent ten minutes at the training session, with the final five minutes being dedicated to recording voice lines, before moving on.
Next was Yuki.
‘Exquisite,’ Ralf thought in passing as he watched her zip around the room in her white armour. He had seen Yuki in her Winter Empress form several times before, still, he couldn’t help but be entranced by its sleek and majestic design. In it, Yuki appeared closer to heaven than Earth, her already divine beauty elevated several-fold.
Only adding to her attractiveness - at least in the duo’s mind - was her Psi combat prowess. Her exceptional CAT scores had forewarned them of a monster, and a monster, she definitely was. While her powers weren't as versatile as Skye’s, her Psi talent, Psi control and combat sense were well ahead of his. As impressive as the air Mimic was, were the two Mimics to go at it in a life-or-death bout, their money would be on her, without a doubt.
Where Skye was a long-range fighter, choosing to stay evasive and throw out ranged attacks, Yuki was a mixed bag, opting to do both long-ranged and close-ranged combat.
For the former, she primarily fired off ranged attacks in the form of ice constructs, some small and quick and others slow and big; both of which were currently on display.
Swoosh!
Twenty ice javelins flashed into existence near the ceiling. In their Maintained state, she willed them all to accelerate to supersonic speeds before having them transition into their Naturalised state.
Importantly, these javelins weren't made of regular ice but a pseudo version. The blue ice was dozens of times denser than any natural ice. The barrage descended upon the charging Psi monsters and punctured through them without any resistance, reducing them to particles.
The Psi-coated flooring that was put in place rippled as it absorbed the ice javelins' left-over momentum.
Dealing with that batch, Yuki focused her sights on the colossal Psi cyclops up ahead. She accelerated towards it. Nearing it in the blink of an eye - much quicker, actually, -her cocked-back right fist fired forth. Along the way, blue ice gathered around her arm and as the punch was an inch away, the ice Mimic sported a giant ice fist.
Boom!
Neptune's Fist landed squarely on its target's chest, imparting an immense force while also burning the Psi cyclops with the resultant steam explosion. Struck, the Psi beast was sent flying backwards.
Had the cyclops been real, it would wear a darkened expression at this moment. Not just out of frustration but also because of its impending doom. Yuki hadn’t knocked it away randomly - no, she had directed the Psi beast to one of her many crush zones.
While fighting, she created house-sized cubes of hardened blue ice and had them drop from the ceiling. Falling with gravity, they were very slow, thus easy to dodge, so she had to give her targets a push where needed.
Timing everything perfectly, the gigantic ice cube crashed down on the Psi cyclops, smashing it into particles and causing a great wave to spread across the training hall’s floor.
Ralf couldn't help but whistle in the aftermath. He was impressed, very impressed.
The Transmigrator watched Yuki unleash devastating attack after attack upon the Psi avatars with sparkling eyes, even cheering her on with words and Psi words. The former didn’t reach her but the latter certainly did. The ice Mimic turned bashful at the display, nearly melting her Winter Empress armour from the inside.
Ralf couldn’t see the red that overcame her, but her jagged movements told him everything he needed to know. Finding the sight adorable, he smiled and upped his efforts, turning himself into a one-man cheer squad as he summoned a bunch of Psi Clones to coordinate with him.
While Ralf played the fool, Ray took a more analytical approach from his couch, assessing Yuki’s fighting style, habits, common tactics and techniques with keen eyes.
What stood out above all was Yuki’s freezing Psi. Despite it being her most basic ability, it was also her most potent. The potency depended on how much Psi she poured into the ability and how concentrated she made it, with Winter Ray, a supersonic inch-wide beam of freezing Psi being the strongest technique of the batch. Anything in its path would immediately be flash-frozen, cooled to what the Academy pinned to be around -170 degrees celsius.
What made this ray and her freezing ability so deadly was the fact that no Psi barrier did well in fending it off. Since it took a Maintained state, one could block Winter Ray with Psi Disruption. Those of equal or higher Psi Rank or those like the duo with their broken Psi Disruption technique could stop Winter Ray by using this method.
The problem was that Winter Ray and freezing in general created a natural chain reaction, resulting in an explosion of frost. This subsequent explosion, given its non-Psi nature, meant that it couldn’t be blocked with Psi Disruption. One had to expect and defend both at the same time.
It was this property that made Yuki a terrible first-time opponent. Were one ignorant, even elite powerhouses would easily fall before her attacks were they not properly prepared.
Observing her in action, Ray counted his lucky stars that they had not run into a ‘Yuki’ before now; at the same time, just as with Skye, his thoughts regarding the ice Mimic began to subtly shift.
Ralf continued his antics for a bit longer, before finally leaving Yuki be. He said his farewells and moved on. A short walk later, he arrived at his next destination, Violet's training hall.
