Ch 14 Opposites.

“I see. Haru-kun and his friends came here for Hatsumode too. That’s right.”

“It’s obvious when you think about it,” says Karen, smiling shyly.

I was probably staring at her in amazement.

Every year, when she goes to Hatsumode, she wears a pale blue kimono that her aunt gave her.

This year, too, it suits her well.

“Aah!”

At that moment, my right hand, which was linked with Ageha’s, was held tightly, and I looked at Ageha’s.

However, she did not look at me, but looked a little angry and stared ahead.

Since we were not in the mood to part ways like this, I and Ageha left the line once.

At that moment, the brown-haired young man who had been standing next to Karen, looking puzzled, opened his mouth.

“Yes, Aizawa-san? They are…”

“Oh, I’m sorry. Um, she’s my sister, Ageha. And next to her is… that, my childhood friend, Haru-kun, no, Haruto-kun.”

“Hey, he’s…”

The young man narrowed his eyes and looked at me.

Then he stepped forward and put his hand on my chest.

“I’m Toru Saijo and I’m dating Aizawa-san. Nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you.”

I bowed my head to Saijo-senpai, who introduced himself with a fresh smile.

I had seen him practicing on the field, so I knew he was good looking.

Every single one of his gestures is so elegant. Perhaps it is because he is a year older than me, but I feel that he has the composure of an adult.

I would like to leave this place right now, but it would be rude to leave without talking to them when he was talking to me in a gentlemanly manner.

However, I couldn’t think of anything to say right away, so I decided to muddle through with a question that was pretty obvious.

“You two went to Hatsumode too?”

“Oh, yes. I was just about to have some zenzai when Aizawa-san spotted you guys… But even so, you guys seem to be getting along pretty well.”

“I’m, uh, this is different!”

Saijo-senpai’s gaze caught mine and Ageha’s hands, which were linked together.

I tried to let go of her hand in a hurry, but she held it tightly again.

Ignoring my protests, she held up our joined hands with a big smile.

“That’s right. We’re good friends.”

“Hey, Ageha.”

“Well, it’s bad for my sister to make things worse.”

When I whispered to her and warned her about the bad mood of Ageha, she returned it somewhat happily, where was her moody mood from earlier?

I was so happy to hear her reply… Indeed, there was nothing I could say back to her when she said that.

As I kept my mouth shut, Saijo-senpai opened his mouth while glancing at Karen.

“I wonder if you guys are going to have some zenzai, too. Why don’t you leave this to us and take a rest over there by the fire with your sister, Aizawa-san?”

“Yeah, but…”

“I don’t care. I wanted to talk to him alone for a while. You guys are fine with that.”

“I’m okay with it, but… are you okay with Ageha?”

“Uh-huh. Okay.”

As if regretting leaving, Ageha slowly removed her hand.

To tell the truth, it was awkward to be alone with Saijo-senpai, but the atmosphere was such that I had no choice but to nod my head.

After watching Karen and Ageha’s apologetic backs as they headed toward the campfire, I and Saijo got back in line.

“So, you want to talk to me…?”

As soon as I started to get in line, I started to express my concern.

Saijo-senpai rolled his eyes as if he had been caught off guard for a moment, and then let out a small puff.

“I’m sorry, but it certainly could be interpreted that way the way I put it. No, no, it’s not that I have anything complicated to say, I just wanted to talk to you.”

“With me? I’m sorry, but I don’t recall ever having met you before.”

Toru Saijo is a celebrity on campus.

His fame is comparable to that of the student body president.

I, on the other hand, am just a student.

Unfortunately, I had no idea why he would want to talk to me.

I said this, and Saijo-senpai’s expression suddenly softened.

“I have heard about you from Aizawa-san. I was just curious as to what kind of person you are.

“Did Karen tell you about me?”

I wonder… maybe a complaint or something.

“You guys have known each other since childhood, right?”

“Yes, We have known each other since kindergarten. We live close to each other, so it’s kind of like a family affair.”

“That’s nice. It’s like Youth.”

“From my point of view, I think my senpai is more youthful than me.”

“Is that so?”

“That’s right.”

He’s the ace of the soccer team, and he dates his girlfriend on Christmas and New Year’s.

If I were to say that this is not adolescence, most high school boys in the world would be offended.

Or rather, I would be angry on behalf of them.

“Well, that’s beside the point. I never heard anything about you and Aizawa-san’s sister dating.”

“It’s a misunderstanding. That was just a prank by Ageha, and we are not in that kind of relationship.”

“Hmm? It didn’t look that way to me. At least not from Aizawa-san’s sister.”

Saijo-senpai’s mutterings left me speechless.

I wondered if people who are popular are sensitive to favors.

At least, it’s different from me, who had been unaware of Ageha’s favors for six years.

I wonder if Karen liked this aspect of him.

“If you are close to Aizawa-san and the others, you will inevitably have more things to talk to me about. How about it, how about we trade contacts?”

“Oh, yes. By all means.”

… He asked me for contact information in a very natural way.

Saijo-senpai is right, we may indeed have more opportunities to talk in the future.

I had no particular reason to refuse, so I took out my phone and exchanged contact.

While my icon is a picture of the full moon that I took when I casually looked up at the sky at night, which I thought was beautiful, Saijo-senpai’s is a back view of himself playing on the field.

He is, after all, fundamentally the opposite of me.

While I was doing this, my turn came around.

“I was surprised it happened so fast, I’m in trouble. I wanted to talk to you about so many more things.”

Saijo-senpai was mumbling something like that next to me, but it helped me.

It was hard for me to feel as if I was being denied by Karen as it continued to show me how different I was from Saijo-senpai.

I think I’m being too self-conscious.
